<div>Young adults are facing unprecedented<strong> mental health challenges</strong>, and we are taking action.

<div>Please read about our program below, and consider donating to our scholarship drive so students can attend our mentorship group that is a follow up to an amazing training we held in Los Angeles in November of 2023. Students want to drive this program forward. <strong>$250 will give one student the opportunity to attend 10 mentor sessions, and to change the world with this work!</strong>

<div>With over 44% of teens and 25% of young adults (18-25) experiencing<strong> persistent sadness and mental health disorders</strong> annually, we are deeply moved by their cries for help. 
</div>

<div>The rising rates of <strong>mental health disorders,</strong> specifically anxiety and depression, among young adults are deeply concerning. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy has shed light on the loneliness epidemic, emphasizing the importance of fostering <strong>social connections and building communities to enhance overall well-being.</strong> To tackle this crisis head-on, we are starting a national program dedicated to assisting young adults in navigating emotional crises through <strong>group acupuncture and dialogue.</strong>

<div>Our program incorporates a facilitated dialogue process called Council, which encourages <strong>attentive listening, genuine expression, and compassionate communication. </strong>Group acupuncture for healing trauma is a powerful method for bringing people into a <strong>deeply calm state and restoring a positive sense of self.</strong> For young adults, it can help with focus, concentration and attention as well. By combining acupuncture and Council, we provide a unique and powerful therapeutic experience that addresses the collective nature of the challenges faced by young people.

<div>We began the program with a <a href="https://us9.campaign-archive.com/?e=%2525255BUNIQID%2525255D&amp;u=8d5bac4b4461d3855a75d4b84&amp;id=3b420e5b62" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Council training in Los Angeles</strong></a> <strong>on November 17-19. We had 23 attendees, many of them students. The reviews were tremendous.  Mandi Bartelle wrote: "</strong>What a powerful weekend. The depth and connection that was created during our time in Council together made a deep impact on me and changed how I continue with my work. Diana combined many layers of healing that were both beautifully woven together and immediately useful in practice. It was a personal and professional joy to participate in this weekend, I’m truly grateful."

<div><strong><em>We are raising scholarship money so students can continue with mentorship and drive the program forward.</em></strong>

<div>Doctoral students from Yo San University, through their organization<strong> Transformational Acupuncture for Youth, </strong>will be setting up the<strong> first clinics that are part of this program at Covenant House for Homeless Youth in Los Angeles. </strong>
</div>

<div>When I told my colleague about this program to help young adults, she told me about her son in his 20s, who is bipolar, and suffering. She worries about him every day and every night. She is afraid of what he might do to himself. She started crying and said how much she wished she could have this for him.
</div>

</div>
<div>The program is unique in that it provides a collective solution to a collective problem by combining community acupuncture, council dialogue practice, and self-help techniques to provide <strong>effective and affordable support</strong>. Led by experienced professionals, we offer a <strong>lifeline to those struggling with isolation, shame, and addiction</strong>, including those in recovery from the opioid crisis. Along with <strong>enhancing their emotional and physical health</strong>, this program helps young adults with <strong>focus, attention and concentration.</strong>

<div>Acupuncture serves as a physical somatic intervention that regulates the body and nervous system, enabling deeper processing, and having an impact on emotions as well as the physical body. It helps <strong>regulate the autonomic nervous system, </strong>promoting <strong>relaxation, improved well-being</strong>, and the release of neurotransmitters that positively impact mood and stress levels. Council fosters <strong>deep understanding, respectful communication, and a sense of belonging,</strong> allowing participants to bridge divides, build connections, and navigate the complexities of their interconnected human experience.

<div>We introduce additional protocols such as mindfulness-based practices, stress and trauma teachings, ear seeds on acupuncture points, and acupressure techniques.

<div>Our innovative program is currently a start-up program of Acupuncturists Without Borders.

<div>Yo San University in Los Angeles and Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture are committed to running sessions at their sites, and Circle Ways, a Council organization, will lend support and training, though financial backing is not yet available. We plan to invite more schools and organizations to join as partners.

Young Adults in Crisis - Scholarship Drive

West Contra Costa Public Education Fund

Founded by a team of UC Berkeley Students, <strong>Connect-In-Place is a FREE online "summer camp" for middle and high schoolers,</strong> with college-age students and professionals leading sessions on everything from coding to Bollywood dance to stress management. <br /><br />Part of Connect-In-Place's mission is to <strong>raise money throughout the summer to provide laptops, hotspots, or other digital infrastructure to meet the current needs of students at low-income schools.</strong> With your help, we can expand online learning opportunities during this difficult and uncertain time. 100% of donations (after gofundme transaction fees) will go towards this cause.<br /><br />Our classes are capped at 10 kids, and are very interactive and discussion-driven, to provide kids with a fun and safe space to connect with peers. We're also holding program-wide game nights, career fairs, talent shows, and much more! Through a partnership with i.am.angel, they will use these funds to provide laptops to families with school-aged children living in federally subsidized housing. i.am.angel, founded by the musical artist will.i.am, works to provide opportunities and resources to low-income students living in East LA. <br /><br />Each donated laptop comes with human-I-T's wraparound services including one year of warranty coverage and tech support services, as well as digital literacy training and assistance in signing up for low-cost internet plans - all at no cost to the recipient. So far this year, human-I-T has distributed over 22,500 laptops to low-income households across the nation in an attempt to connect as many people to the digital world as possible in the midst of a global pandemic that has made access to the internet an even greater necessity than ever before.

Increasing Accessibility of Online Learning

<strong><iframe media_type="0" media_id="iMUC55oiB74" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/iMUC55oiB74/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe></strong>[Thank you Cody Page (my nephew) for putting this video together!]<strong><br /><br />Imagine:</strong><br />How would you feel knowing that your $50 can provide acupuncture treatments to 10 Veterans combating trauma, pain, PTSD, lack of mobility or stress? Veterans like our 78-year old friend Tony. He’s an Army Veteran, served as a Paratrooper. Because of his age and service, he’s lost mobility in his arms and legs. After several acupuncture treatments, his mobility in his arms increased 50% and his legs were able to function more like he wants.<br /><br />Or Veterans like Felix, who has been deported to Mexico. After serving his country, after dealing with challenges in life, after being deported; we went down into Tijuana and gave him (and other deported Veterans) free acupuncture treatments. After the treatment, he says he felt relief from stress and pain, but even more powerful, you could see a light in his eyes that wasn’t there before the treatment. A light of hope.<br /><br />Or like Navy Veteran Dave, at first he was skeptical on the treatments. After he came in for a few weeks, Dave was feeling the healing of the treatments and was able to go boogie boarding for the first time in three years. And seeing the zest of life in Dave has been such an incredible reward itself. And think of the impact this has on his family and friends.<br /><br />Or Navy Veteran Brian, he said he felt “relaxed” and “euphoric” after the treatment. You could just tell he was in a much better place after receiving acupuncture.<br /><br />Or Air Force Veteran with auto immune issues, where sometimes he can’t get out of bed. He came into the clinic not being able to walk. He received a treatment and was able to walk out of the clinic with the help of a cane. The feeling of hope we all felt after this was so powerful.<br /><br />Or a Police Officer came in based on the recommendation of a Fire Fighter. This Police Officer was shot twice and now recovering on admin duty. He said he felt so much pain relief with the acupuncture treatments we provided him.<br /><br />Not every Veteran or First Responder that gets acupuncture has a life-changing experience. Yet nearly everyone that receives a treatment walks out feeling just a little relieved of pain or stress, and feeling more calm, relaxed and sometimes euphoric. Imagine how that healing, calmness and being relaxed radiates to all their friends, family and community.<br /><br />That’s where your donation is going. To help a Veteran or First Responder have a relaxed and stress-free moment of their day. And the positive effect that has on their friends, family and community. Let me share with you part of my backstory.<br /><br /><strong>Hello! &amp; Backstory</strong><br />I'm Guy Page, Founder and Owner of <a href="https://innspotacu.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Inn Spot Community Acupuncture</a> . I'm an Air Force Veteran and my life was changed by acupuncture. I almost needed back surgery a few years ago, but acupuncture helped my back so much I didn't need it anymore. I was in so much pain before I found acupuncture, I'm so grateful to find this powerful and effective way of healing.<br /><br />I was so excited about acupuncture, I went to an <a href="https://acuwithoutborders.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Acupuncturists Without Borders</a>  seminar in early 2018 and my life was changed. To date, 60 acupuncturists have provided over 500 treatments to first responders, firefighters, evacuees and community members affected by the LA Fires.
