<div>It has been a huge honour to represent the people of Dublin West as a Green Party TD since I was elected in 2020. As a Minister, I’ve led a busy department in challenging times, delivering lower childcare costs, extra paid parents leave and half-price public transport fares for young adults. At the upcoming general election, I hope to be re-elected so I can continue this work of representing my community and our country.

<div>The Igulu foundation is based in the village of Bujagali in Uganda. The name IGULU comes from the local Lusoga dialect meaning “Heaven”.

<div>The founder, Sinaan Igulu is a local man, born and raised in Bujagali by his Mother and his extended family. Sinaan started this foundation to help local people; orphans, single mothers, those with disabilities within his community. Sinaan himself experienced many challenges in his childhood, living in a family where his Mother was solely responsible for the needs of her family despite having no income from paid employment.

<div>The lack of access to many basic needs both within his own family and within his community resulted in him setting up the Igulu Foundation. He believes that “People help the needy without any hope of being helped back” and feels that “everyone is able to help the needy in anyway as long he or she has a giving heart and a supporting hand and heart”.

<div>The Igulu foundation is a small, registered NGO. Their programs include; child sponsorship, supporting, educating and caring for orphans and vulnerable children and supporting single mothers in developing their skills to allow them to financially support their families. They currently host up to 15 children on an ongoing basis at the foundation, ranging from 1 to 15 years. They provide these children with basic needs and are dedicated to being their carers, educators and support network for those children who have lost or were denied a chance of being shown parental love due to the loss of their parents through HIV, poverty or family neglect.

<div>The IGULU MISSION is to “lead all people especially vulnerable children, teenagers, and single mothers through education sponsorship, giving out best quality Agriculture seeds and breeds, art and craft and a children’s home to improve their lives and opportunities to become young adults and parents who bring positive change in their communities”.

<div>The Igulu Foundation have kindly accepted me to work with them as a Volunteer for a month, from the 17th September to the 15th October 2024. I will be doing whatever is needed of me. Having spoken to the team at Igulu, they need help with the children in terms of schoolwork and care and at times help with maintenance projects and farmwork.

<div>Solar Panel Project– They require 3.5 million Uganda shillings to fund their solar panel project to provide uninterrupted electrical supply to their facility and residents. Their electricity supply is at best, basic and more often than not they do not have the facility to provide electricity when schooling their children, much of their work once the sun has set at 6.30pm is done with torches or pre-charged battery packs. 3.5 million Uganda shillings is approximately €850.

<div>As our fab Dad is nearing the end of his journey with Alzheimer’s, our brilliant Mum has started her own journey working with ASI and researchers in Maynooth and TCD on the role of carers and the supports that are needed for them.

Buckley sisters annual fundraising walk for ASI

<div>Dóchas is a charitable organisation providing the highest quality holistic cancer support services to people throughout the Midlands whose lives have been affected by cancer. Dóchas offer a wide variety of therapies including reflexology, counselling, mindfulness, massage, reiki, acupuncture etc for those most in need. All therapies are offered free of charge and Dóchas are funded through fundraising and donations with little to no government support.

<div>Townmore's employees with the support of the company owners will work to fundraise for Dóchas by completing at least five million steps in the month of October. All monies raised will go directly into assisting this wonderful service.

Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund

I'm running to give Dublin West a Green voice in the Dáil. We've never had a Green TD before, but with your support we're in with a serious chance this time!<br /><br />Running for election isn't cheap and I don't have the big financial backing that the big parties do. That's why I need your support.<br /><br />Every cent raised here will go to posters, leaflets, and online ads to try secure a progressive Green seat for Dublin West:<br /><br />- €6 buys one election poster<br />- €20 buys space on Instagram<br />- €50 gets 1,000 leaflets delivered in addition to our canvassing<br />- €100 gets 5,000 A5 folded leaflets with detailed policy info for voters<br /><br />Any support you can offer would be hugely appreciated! And if you want to give canvassing a shot, just message me and we can get you trained up.<br /><br />Over the campaign, I'll be working hard to bring our message to as many people as possible. At the heart of my campaign is trying to <strong>make it easier for everyone to do their bit to reduce their carbon emissions</strong> and tackle climate change. The government should be making it much easier to make the change.<br /><br />As a university lecturer, I know how important education is. Our part of Dublin is growing rapidly: we need <strong>ensure that we have enough school places </strong>that <strong>cater to children of all educational needs</strong>. With so many young families in the area, we need accessible, affordable childcare.<br /><br />And I'll continue my campaign for decent public transport across Dublin 15, <strong>making trains and buses cheaper</strong> and more frequent, with<strong> proper, safe cycling facilities for all.</strong><br /><br /><br />The technical bit:<br />Donations can only be accepted from residents of the Republic of Ireland or Irish citizens abroad. <a href="http://www.victory4vincent.com" target="_blank">Facebook Vincent Lyons - His fight against Muscular Dystrophy Duchenne </a><br />Dear family, friends &amp; well wishers,<br /><br />On January 19th our friend's world fell apart when their only son, Vincent, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Vincent is 6 years old and is a very caring, funny, intelligent little boy. He lives in Dublin 15 with his parents, Vivien and Alan, two sisters and dog, Bella. He has a huge passion for dinosaurs and loves going fishing with his dad. His dream in life is to become an archaeologist. We really want this dream to become a reality for Vincent.<br /><br />Boys with DMD, like Vincent, do not make the dystrophin protein in their muscles. Due to this missing protein, muscle weakness increases overtime. Eventually complications occur with the heart and lungs. Unfortunately there is no cure for DMD. At present, there are no treatments available in Europe for Vincent's specific type of DMD as he is missing exons 45-50.<br /><br />In late 2017 the family received the great news that a drug that will benefit Vincent is available to ship to Ireland and Temple Street Childrens Hospital has agreed to administer it. <br /><br />The family are absolutely over the moon with this news and are on a mission to get this treatment for Vincent as soon as possible! The drug will potentially lessen the severe muscle weakness. Time is of the essence for Vincent! It is vital he receives the drug while he is still walking, to achieve maximum effect. <br /><br />However the cost of the medication is currently €441,000 plus shipping costs. The medication can only be shipped every 13 weeks.
