Ari hasn’t had the best start to life. <br /><br />At just 4 years old she has had 6 homes (that we know of) before finding herself on death row in a pound, from which we saved her at the 11th hour.<br /> <br />Ari has been with her amazing foster parents for nearly 1,000 days while she receives the love and rehabilitation that she needs but now another blow has been delivered, she needs major surgery.<br /> <br />While waiting for her forever home she has torn her cruciate and now needs TPLO surgery which will cost $3,000.<br /> <br />Geelong Animal Rescue has no limit to what we will do for an animal in our care. We operate with the ethos that once we save an animal from death row, they become our own and we treat them as such. So far this year GAR has spent $21,619 on 11 animals that required significant medical attention, this is in addition to our regular vet costs.<br /> <br />GAR is entirely run by volunteers and all animals are cared for in foster homes throughout Geelong, we don’t have a physical location as we want to have zero overheads so all money raised can go directly to animal care.<br /> <br />If you can help by donating to Ari’s surgery fund or sharing her story we would be forever grateful x

<div>Rubble is a Staffy mix, approximately 6-7 years old. He came to our rescue from Death Row in January, and soon after we realised that there was something not quite right! Rubble was experiencing stiffness, lameness after light exercise, and an abnormal gait. On examination he will cry/wince when the left leg is examined and is not bothered by the manipulation of the right side.

<div>After some investigations and specialist opinions, it was deemed that his best chance for a pain free, normal life is to have a total hip replacement.
</div>

<div>In dogs, this procedure involves the entire arthritic hip joint being replaced with a prosthesis, including the stem (within the femur), ball (femoral head) and socket (acetabulum).
</div>
<div>It has been quoted at between $11,000 - $11,500 (Quote is attached in the images).
</div>

<div>The goal of a total hip replacement is to return to pain-free, normal hip function.
</div>
<div>Rubble is a sweet boy, who is active by nature, but unfortunately in a lot of pain right now. The specialist believes Rubble will have an excellent quality of life post recovery as this surgery has a 95% success rate, with many owners reporting their dog can do things they have not done since they were young!

<div>As we are a volunteer run, not for profit charity this is a HUGE amount for us to spend on one animal. Adoption fees account for only 48% of our income, the rest comes from fundraising and donations from generous animal lovers, without which, we could not survive!
