<div>The expected funeral date is June 7th 2023 at Ortiz Funeral Home on 1st and 1st Avenue for those that want to attend. It is from 4PM to 8PM, we would love to have you show up. The expected ride along open to all bikers will be Saturday - June 10th. If you'd like to attend, hang out or share stories or even just ride your bike please come down! <div>On May 27th at about 10:15PM, Michael Gilligbouer, was fatally stabbed on 10th street between Avenue B and C. Michael was going home from work when he was assaulted by a stranger walking in the opposite direction. More details on this tragedy can be found below:

<div>Michael was a joy to have in everyones lives. He enjoyed spending his time working with bikes and was there for everyone who needed him. Michael was a father to a child that he is leaving behind and a hard-working individual. His clients and co-workers loved him and he was beloved in his community of the East Village. His sense of humor will remain unmatched along with the hole he has left in everyones hearts.

<div>We are hoping the community that adored he cherished so much can come together and participate in his funeral and help the family through this sad ordeal. His family is welcoming friends and fellow bikers to come over and celebrate his life over the next few weeks and we will update this post with updates on the get together most likely on the FDR.

<div>We are looking for decent, affordable senior assisted living facility in the community that he loves.

Our Godfather needs some help

For the last two decades Fernandito Ferrer has been a pioneer among the new crop of singer-songwriters that has emerged from Puerto Rico.  Continuing the Nueva Canción tradition, this stage veteran performs a lot of the classic repertoire but has also developed his own language within this context. Incorporating the art of “looping” he combines textures and sounds that serve as a platform to fuse rhythms and genres of all kinds.  Although undeniably Caribbean, his music overcomes all territorial boundaries and his performance is truly mesmerizing.  His works have been featured in countless publications and he’s been a part of tours, festivals and events all around the Caribbean, the United States and Latin America.  Festival de la Canción Bolivariana, La Casita at Lincoln Center, Trovafest and Summer Stage opening for Silvio Rodriguez are only a few of the many stages has set foot on.  His style is better compared to the works of Tracy Chapman, Ani DiFranco, Antonio Cabán Vale, Silvio Rodríguez and Nick Drake.<br /><br /><strong>This campaign is an effort to gather support and financial backing for a long awaited second full length album to be recorded between NY and PR.</strong><br /> <br />Durante las ultimas dos décadas Fernandito Ferrer ha sido un pionero entre la nueva cosecha de cantautores que ha salido de Puerto Rico.  Continuando con la tradición de la Nueva Canción, este veterano de las tablas interpreta mucho del repertorio clásico pero además ha desarrollado su propio lenguaje dentro de este contexto.  Incorporando el arte del “looping” combina texturas y sonidos que sirven de plataforma para fusionar ritmos y géneros de todo tipo.  Aunque indiscutiblemente caribeño, su música sobrepasa cualquier atadura territorial y su ejecutoria verdaderamente hipnotizante.  Su obra está plasmadas en un sinnúmero de publicaciones discográficas y ha formado parte de giras, festivales y eventos en todo el Caribe, los Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica.  El Festival de la Canción Bolivariana, La Casita at Lincoln Center, Trovafest y Summer Stage abriendo para Silvio Rodriguez son solo algunos de muchos escenarios que ha pisado.  Su estilo se puede comparar a los trabajos de Tracy Chapman, Ani DiFranco, Antonio Cabán Vale, Silvio Rodríguez y Nick Drake.<br /><br /><strong>Esta campaña es un esfuerzo para acumular apoyo y financiamiento de un muy esperado segundo disco de larga duración a ser grabado entre NY y PR.<br /><br /><br /></strong>

COVID-19 Response - Emergency Funds to Support Artists / Volunteers:<br /><br />BxArts Factory is an organization supported by many artists.  Since our launch five years ago, numerous artists have shaped and sustained our mission by donating their work and time to help us bring art to communities throughout the Bronx and New York City. Now it is our turn to help them.<br /><br />As the spread of the coronavirus intensifies throughout NYC, the need for heightened social distancing to limit the transmission of the virus means many freelance artists will lose their main sources of income.  Upon learning that a few of the artists in our BxArts Factory family are already struggling, our team decided to reach out to ask for your help. We’ve launched an emergency fund through [Go Fund Me], which will make proceeds available to artists through an online application process. At this time, all donations will be geared towards artists that are part of the BxArts Factory family. Specifically, artists that are currently, or, have been:<br /><br />- BxArts Factory Advisory Committee members;<br /><br />- BxArts Factory teaching artists;<br /><br />- BxArts Factory’s resident artists; or<br /><br />- BxArts Factory volunteers;<br /><br />Additionally, artists who have participated in any of our exhibits or who have worked at any of our events may apply as well.<br /><br />The link to the application is below. While submission of an application does not guarantee monetary support, once the campaign begins to accumulate donations, we will be in contact with selected artists to make funds available.
