The determination and positivity with which they handled Robbie's brain cancer diagnosis has inspired us all to do better in our own lives.

<div>Nick and I met Mel &amp; Robbie eight years ago and they quickly grew from acquaintances to being a part of our extended family. While my heart is breaking, I can't help but smile as I remember all the fun times we had together.

<div>After Robbie's passing, I spent two days with their family and I didn't want to leave. Even in their time of grieving, all of the people there had the same welcoming, loving friendliness that Robbie exuded.

<div>Robbie never asked much from anyone. Through his six years of battling brain cancer and enduring a continuous parade of medical interventions, he remained chill and just went with the flow. But the last time I hung out with him he was more serious. He knew he would be gone soon and he asked for us to please be there for Mel after he passed.

<div>Mel and Robbie's family are extremely grateful for the outpouring of love, food, kind words and beautiful flowers that have been showing up since the news spread of Robbie's passing. Others have been asking what they can do to help ease this difficult time. <div><em>Derrick Hilton, or Coach Hilton as he is referred to by so many, has recently been diagnosed with Cancer. While most people would have been stopped in their tracks, Coach Hilton has taken the news in stride. His first thoughts were not for himself or what he might face ahead. His thoughts were for his children, his family, his friends, his students and his players. This was no surprise to those that know him because his thoughts and concerns are never placed on himself. </em>

<div><em>Coach Hilton is the face of Socastee High School in our community. He has been since he was a student here prior to his graduation in 1998. Coach Hilton pursued a college degree from Coker College, which would allow him to return to his hometown and give back to the place that he has loved unconditionally for most of his life, the place that he calls home. Coach Hilton has spent the majority of his life giving all he has to Brave Nation. From counseling his students with class choices, holding their hands through the hardships of life, to growing his players into young men. He has not only been there for his students but their families. He is the face of all the good that Socastee has to give, because he is the good that we have. </em>

<div><em>Coach Hilton is a loving father of 3. The love and dedication he has for his children is immeasurable. He is a husband, a son, a brother, an uncle and a dear friend. </em>

<div><em>We cannot put into words what he means to us. All we can do for him is offer up prayer and support. We all know that a fight against cancer comes at a high cost. <div>It is with deepest sympathies that we are creating this fundraiser to assist with the funeral arrangements of Sharon Bradley. She was a friend, a loved one, a mother, a daughter, and a sister. She lived each day with a smile and warmth that always seemed to radiate from her. She touched countless people's lives, throughout her twenty years working at St. James Middle, as well as, being active in the Murrells’ Inlet community.

Michelle was later diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.  This was absolutely shocking and devastating news for 37 year old Michelle, her husband Tom and her four year old son Thomas. The form of cancer she has is very aggressive and required her to undergo a double mastectomy in August. </span>

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.9871999999999999;margin-right:42pt;margin-top:6pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;">Her surgery went well, but unfortunately, cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. While her long-term prognosis is positive, she has a long road of treatment ahead, including chemotherapy, radiation, and then years of hormone treatment. The surgery and chemo treatments have left her extremely incapacitated, with limited ability to take care of herself and Thomas, and she will be out of work for the foreseeable future. Her job as a Registered Nurse is on a ‘per diem’ basis, so she does not receive any financial support while she is unable to work. As such, cancer has taken away Michelle’s ability to contribute to the upkeep of her family, both domestically and financially. Not only have they lost her income but now they have added expenses associated with her treatment, child care and outsourcing of everything she did daily for her family.  </span>

Help Shell Ring the Bell -Michelle Gagliardi

<div>As Kasson explained in his story, he is fighting a lot of internal battles during his recovery from last year's attack. In addition to the mental trauma, he is now blind in both eyes with no light perception. One of the biggest tragedies of Kasson's story is how underserved he has been, both by society and the justice system. Both he and his family are now facing significant financial challenges, which have been made much more dire by Kasson's inability to work at the moment. <br /><strong><br /></strong>Kasson worked as a bartender and server for over a decade and has over 15 years in the food service industry. But due to his blindess, he is unable to work in the field where he has gained this experience. He'll need school and vocational training. We want to give him time, space, and security as he rethinks his future steps and develops an entirely new skillset. We'd like to find him new housing. Currently Kasson's family lives in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in NYC. We want him to be in a place that he feels safe being outside, so that he can explore and integrate into the community. We think this will be a huge step toward rebuilding his mental health.  <br /><br />In addition to these pressing needs, it would be nice to give Kasson a few years of security as he recovers from a total loss of income.
