<div>We are  raising funds for an amazing little boy. He has suffered so much for someone so young, but he never stops smiling!!

<div>His smile is like a ray of sunshine.

<div>Lane and Chaydin found out that Wells had a rare genetic condition called MPPH (Megalencephaly, Postaxial Polydactly, Polymicrogyria, Hydrocephalus) Syndrome at 39 weeks of pregnancy, only a week before she was set to give birth. MPPH is extremely rare, and they were told Wells would be the 76th case, worldwide.

<div>Wells was born by a traumatic vacuum delivery, and spent 4 days in the NICU getting baseline testing and recovering from the delivery.
</div>
<div>Wells condition was new to every doctor who met him. Chaydin and Lane found themselves becoming the experts through reading studies, and meeting other families who had experiences navigating raising a child with medical complexities. 
</div>

<div>They learned of intensive physical therapy when Wells was 11 months old. They booked him in for his first week long physical therapy intensive, and from there noticed big changes in Wells’ overall awareness, strength, and endurance. 
</div>
<div>Fast forward to now, the family has been able to do several more intensive therapies ranging in duration from one to two weeks, both in Calgary and Arizona, or even arranging these therapists to travel to Saskatchewan. 
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, these types of early intervention programs aren’t available in the province of Saskatchewan so families in their situation have to travel. 
</div>

<div>Wells had a medical setback in October ‘22 when they discovered a mass on his adrenal gland. After many tests and trips to the children’s hospital and Regina General, the final diagnosis of Adrenal Neuroblastoma was made. 
</div>

</div>
<div>This didn’t stop Wells. The family travelled back and fourth to Saskatoon for testing, follow-ups, and monitoring, until this previous September when the tumor was removed. Wells still needs to be monitored, however is cleared to continue in physical therapy! 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This week, Chaydin received an email from the NAPA center of Denver, Colorado, USA informing them that Wells had been selected to participate in an intensive in January 2025! The NAPA centre is one of the first establishments that have specialized in intensive therapies and early interventions for kids experiencing disability. 
</div>
<div>Because of their cutting edge methods and successes, the demand to get in is high, to the point where they introduced a lottery system to get in. 
</div>

<div>Chaydin placed Wells on the lottery list last year with no success, however this year after waiting to hear, Napa sent Chaydin an email informing her that Wells is able to attend a three week intensive therapy program from January 6-24, 2025. 
</div>

</div>
<div>This is extremely exciting as this will be the first 3 week intensive therapy program that Wells will be able to complete, with state of the art equipment and training from their therapists, this could open up a lot of growth and development for Wells.
</div>

</div>
<div>Professionals have commented on how far Wells has come with these intensives and have reassured the family that these intensives have immensely helped with his physical development and awareness and likely without these therapies he would not be as far along as he is. 
</div>
<div>His strength continues to improve with regular physio and the family is so hopeful to make this Napa adventure a reality. 
</div>

<div>The financial burden of raising a child with complex medical needs is unfathomable. The family has medical benefits, however this only scratches the surface of the costs associated with therapies, some equipment not covered by programs, and additional needs. The family has had fundraising done in the past, helping immensely with physical therapy intensives and equipment up until this point, but this intensive will cost upwards of 160$USD/hour

<div>For 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for three weeks. This does not include travel, accommodations, etc. 
</div>

Wells Journey

<div>In March of 2023, Annie was diagnosed with Triple Positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 1. This news has been absolutely heartbreaking for those who know and love Annie.
</div>

</div>
<div>Prior to her diagnosis, Annie had just graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnic for Combine Lab &amp; X-ray Technology. And had began her career at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Esterhazy, where she lives with her boyfriend Colton Schick, and their two dogs Duke and Ellie.
</div>

</div>
<div>Unfortunately, a breast cancer diagnosis has put their future plans on hold and Annie will have to take several months off work to endure chemotherapy once a week over 4 months in Saskatoon, a 5 hour drive from Esterhazy, followed by surgery and possibly radiation if the cancer is found in her lymph nodes. After her year of therapies she will then have to go on hormone blockers for 5-10 years to reduce her chances of reoccurrence.

<div>Unfortunately, the type of chemotherapy she will have to have is not offered anywhere else closer to Esterhazy with her healthcare team. That leaves the expense of travelling 10 hours a week on the shoulders of Annie and Colton. And because chemotherapy and hormone blockers can have long-term effects on Annie’s ability to conceive a child naturally, it was important to her and Colton to give themselves the best chance they could to have a family, so Annie has begun IVF treatments in hopes they can freeze embryos to be used in the future, which they again have had to pay out of their own pockets for.

<div>Unfortunately, their funds are limited as she has been in school for the last two years and didn’t get much of an opportunity to work and save before her diagnosis. Annie Against Cancer

<div>On January 4th, 2023 Gabe &amp; Kaylene welcomed their second son Theodore “Theo” Dipple. Upon welcoming Theo, it was immediately apparent that things were different. He has since been diagnosed with a rare disorder called Treacher Collins Syndrome (TCS).

<div>Since his birth in Regina Theo has been moved to the Jim Pattinson Children’s Hospital in saskatoon. He has had a tracheotomy surgery to help secure his airways.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Theo is currently waiting on another surgery that will provide him a feeding tube in his stomach. After this the Dipples will finish their in-hospital training and begin the transition of preparing to go home with their sweet boy. <div>We are asking for your support for the Dipple family as they prepare to bring Theo home. Theo’s needs are going to be very expensive, including: monthly supplies for his tracheotomy, feeding tube, oximeter, heart monitor, etc.

<div>Down the road expenses will continue to be varied. Once he’s older there will likely be trips &amp; extended stays in Toronto for more specialized surgeries to expand his airway.
</div>

<div>Thankfully when it comes to medical supplies they will have some coverage from SHA, a bit of help from Telemiracle, and maybe some blue cross coverage with their health benefits. But the list of things they will need to care for Theo is very long, and there’s many aspects of life that won’t be covered/assisted by these organizations.

<div>Theo’s medical care at home will be constant and complex. Kaylene and Gabe have spent the past 4 weeks training with the hospital staff to be able to administer Theo’s tracheotomy care, feeding through a tube, and specialized CPR/resuscitation training. Theo will need one or both of them present pretty much at all times, and cannot be looked after by anyone without the proper training.
</div>

<div>This makes work arrangements extremely difficult. Kaylene will not be able to return to work for the next several years because of this, and was not able to have enough work hours in late pregnancy to earn a maternity leave.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Gabe will need to cut back on his own work hours as much as he can manage in order to assist with Theo’s medical care as well as caring for Arthur too. Being self-employed, Gabe does not have the opportunity to take a paid leave from work, either.
</div>
