<div>On the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, my in-laws looked outside to see flames coming over the ridge near their Altadena, CA home. They quickly grabbed a few essential items and fled. The following day, their fears were confirmed: <strong>their home of 12+ years had been destroyed by the Eaton Fire.</strong>

<div>Many of you know my father-in-law, Carel, from his acting roles in Twin Peaks, The Addams Family, Star Trek: TNG, Men In Black, and many other titles. He's also a skilled photographer and digital image editor.

<div>My mother-in-law, Tracey, is a dedicated family medicine doctor who works extremely hard. She's a model mom and grandmother.

<div>We're so very thankful they were able to safely escape the oncoming blaze, but like so many others, <strong>they lost everything to the Eaton Fire.</strong> Please keep Carel, Tracey, and all those affected by the fires in your thoughts and prayers.

Known for his unwavering dedication to the community, he built a legacy through his beloved shoe store and endless support for local youth. <div>My name is Janey Riech, and John Doherty was one of my oldest childhood friends. John was the real deal. He was genuine. He was warm. John loved his people and he let them know. John was goofy, and he had perhaps the most unforgettable sense of humor I'll ever know. His laugh was uncontrollably contagious, and he had the ability to make any situation very silly, very fast. He had a true gift for making friends quickly, and he valued those who he held close to his heart. John was easy-going, good-natured, and always stood loyally by those he adored. John loved his family deeply. He was the eldest of his three younger siblings, which he would often share sweet childhood memories about. John was profoundly sentimental. He was known to send songs to people he hadn't spoken to in months, and he would never let too much time pass before contacting the people he treasured. John gave hugs that would let you know how much he loved you. John's heart was huge, and his ability to make people feel special and loved was simply unmatched.

<div>John's life revolved around playing music with the people he cherished. To say that he was a talented musician and songwriter would be beyond an understatement. He was so passionate and driven about writing music, collaborating, and recording with his friends. John played guitar and bass in many bands since he was a teenager and well into his adult life. He also wrote his own music and would have his closest friends collaborate with him on songs. John was known to invite friends over just to play guitar because that is what gave him the most joy. When I met John in middle school, he asked me to play bass in his band, and I feel honored to have been involved in his life this way. I know that I am not alone when I say that John made a remarkable impact on my most formative memories of learning to play music. Anyone who played music with John knows that he always gave everything he had. He was encouraging to his bandmates, generous with his talents, wildly energetic on stage, and his guitar-playing style will remain one of a kind.

In Memory of John Doherty

<div>It started as a normal day in January, however little did I know, my French Bulldog Charlie was in severe pain. As the day progressed Charlie lost all motor functions of hind quarters. He was able to scoot himself around with his front paws.

<div> Me being the dog dad I am, I raced him to the vet where he underwent an MRI and emergency IVDD (Inter-Vertebral Disc Disease) back surgery.

<div> It has been a long road of stress, patience, persistence, and perseverance, but Charlie is walking and is back to his normal self (for the most part.) 
</div>

Stand With Ukraine

<div><span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">It's hard to believe that this little princess has only been in our lives for a few years. She spreads so much joy by just being her sassy self and we simply cannot imagine life without her. Over this past week, what began as a simple cough has progressed to bronchitis and pneumonia and now pulmonary hypertension. She is currently hospitalized and receiving oxygen as well as IV antibiotics. We hope that we can get her feeling better soon so she can come home to her family. Hi! My name is Tahisha. I made this campaign to help keep my family together and keep a roof over our heads. Here's a little information about my life and the crisis we're working to overcome. <br /><br />I came into this world with all the odds against me. My mother had me when she was 15 years old and she was a drug abuser. I went into the foster system when I was 5 years old and from that point on I decided that this would not be the end of my life, only the beginning. It would be the end of the cycle of poverty, drug abuse, and gang affiliation for my family. Through foster care my sisters and  I managed to stay together and as the oldest, I helped raise them. In high school, I was accepted to Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy and graduated with honors and some college credit. I continued with college for a year, but I was unable to graduate because I had to maintain two jobs. I ended up quitting school and working full time because I was determined to get my sisters out of foster care. I succeeded, and since then, I've been working hard, taking care of myself, and in 2012 I had my first daughter, Taijaya.<br /><br />Everything was going well until I conceived my second daughter Zyloh last year. After Zyloh was born, while I was on maternity leave, the building that we lived in was bought by a millionaire developer and they stopped accepting rent on a schedule that would accommodate my disability payments. This left me with the no choice but to either be evicted or move out. Since then, it's been a struggle to find housing because of the high cost of rent in LA and discrimination by landlords against families. Sadly, because of this, my family and I have become homeless for the past several months, moving from hotel to hotel at the cost of more than $500 a week for the least expensive room. This emergency may cause me to lose my two daughters, the most important part of my life. I never thought that this would happen to my family because I made all of the right choices for myself, and I would never want my daughters to go through what I did in the foster care system.<br /><br />All of your donations will go directly to the cost of rent for my daughters and me. The Department of Family Services requires children to have their own bedrooms, so I'm obligated to rent a two bedroom apartment. I'm on the waitlist for public housing, but they say it will likely take 2 - 3 years to be placed. Single mothers are often asked to pay double the security deposit along with first and last month's rent because they assume we won't have the money to pay later on. The average cost of rent for a two bedroom in LA is $1,730 per month, but I've been able to find some places in Compton and Long Beach for closer to $1,200. If we can raise $5100 it would cover the deposit, first, second, and last month's rent. If we can exceed that goal, it would provide even more security for my children and I. Any amount you can donate is a huge help! <br /><br />Even working as hard as I do, 40+ hours per week as a manager at a local grocery store, I can't do this alone. Dave was born on July 21, 1990 in Orange County, California. The youngest in the family, Dave is a beloved son, brother, and friend.<br /><br />To know Dave is to know a great, pure heart; one that brakes for snakes, makes kids laugh, and doesn't litter. He's an avid animal advocate who's never met a creature he didn't like, and his Netflix queue will hint at a serious obsession with documentaries, plant life, and the occasional re-watch of Pulp Fiction.<br /><br />After high school, college, and a few tattoos, Dave became a member of the road crew for British punk band 'The Adicts' in 2012, later joining the band as their bassist. For the last four years, Dave has played with the Adicts on several world tours and on their latest studio album, making friends and memories across the globe.<br /><br />Dave was involved in a car accident on September 17, 2017 and sustained life-altering spinal cord injuries. Hello,<br /><br />My name is Jessica San Miguel and I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when I was 18 years old. The disease had progressed rapidly and had taken everything away from me. I am in a wheel chair and struggling to win back my life. There is a treatment in Puebla, Mexico that can give me that chance. <br /><br />It is HSCT which is a combination of chemotherapy and stem cell treatment.  The treatment is almost $60,000 alone not including traveling expenses. Eric Jeffus is a compassionate, knowledgable, and hard working man whom under unfortunate circumstances must take a leave of absence from his passion. After suffering unspeakable violence, he never lost his sense of humor nor his sense of humility, going so far as to say that he was glad it was him rather than someone else. Eric has suffered a fractured skull and will require reconstructive surgery, which will put him out of work for at least two weeks. In an effort to support a coworker and moreso, a friend, I hope to call on the kindness and empathy of all those who are willing to support this cause. While the recovery process will be tough, the time away from work and the community that surrounds him will be just as difficult. funeral expenses

Hi everyone. As most of you know, I have cancer, stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma. Lame. I know I'll beat this but right now, I need some help. I really don't like asking for it but I'm not sure what to do. <br />I owe the hospital over $1,000 for the treatment and tests I had leading up to my diagnosis. I've already hit my $3,000 out of pocket cap but apparently I still owe. <br />I'm off work now and my only income is what I'm receiving from disability, basically just enough to pay bills.
