<div><strong>Servant Leader. Caregiver. Artist. Beloved Friend. Warrior. Inspiration. Saint. </strong>These were the most common words anyone who met Sharon used to describe her.

<div>With a warm smile on her face, Sharon Lynn Moore (Ricketts), 76, was called home to her FATHER during the afternoon of August 13, 2025. A three-time breast cancer survivor who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in January 2020, Sharon spent her last few days surrounded by her loving family, including all of her children and many of her grandchildren. She uttered her final words, “I love you,” the day before her soul departed from her earthly body.

<div>Guided by deep-seated values, Sharon lived her life in accordance with the principles she believed in: faith in God; supporting her Village (family and friends); demonstrating kindness and compassion, especially for youth and the vulnerable; and working hard while being optimistic.

They value family and seek to build strong families themselves, and they are inspired to positively impact the community.

<div>Hello everyone! We are the Berkeley Police Association and we are back asking you for your support and donations for our annual "<strong>Turkey Basket</strong>" event for the Thanksgiving holiday.

<div>If you're unfamiliar with the event, the BPA and an army of volunteers provide a<em> complete </em>Thanksgiving meal for families in need throughout Berkeley. These families are identified by various organizations that assist the underserved and needing members of our community.
</div>

<div>These meals include a whole turkey, sides, bread rolls, and a dessert. They are assembled by numerous volunteers the day before Thanksgiving. Once assembled, these baskets are delivered to the organizations for distribution. Last year was an exciting turnout of volunteers! On top of our usual BPA leaders, families, and friends, we also received assistance from Berkeley Mayor Adena Ishii, City Manager Paul Buddenhagen, Berkeley Police Chief Jen Louis, along with City Council Members Bartlett and Tregub!

<div>We are reaching out on behalf of our beloved friend, Amanda Montgomery, who is currently facing the most difficult battle of her life—a diagnosis of glioblastoma, an aggressive and relentless brain tumor. <div>This news has been devastating, but Amanda (and Kitt, Adi &amp; Robyn) have shown incredible courage, strength, and grace in the face of such a daunting challenge. As Amanda continues treatment— surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, and countless doctor visits—the emotional and physical toll is enormous. Unfortunately, so is the financial burden.

MAC Dance Class of 2023 Alumni Ingela Alvarado is one of the most genuine, caring, and overall wonderful people that I have had the pleasure of teaching. Her creativity and passion for dance are infectious, and she is always bringing light and inspiration to others through her choreography and her dancing. Ingela was currently pursuing her dreams at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City when something didn't feel right and she went to the hospital to get checked out. Fast forward to today: Ingela is still in the hospital after the doctors found a mass in her chest so large it is compressing her heart and lungs. Doctors are getting her ready to start chemotherapy treatment soon and although it's going to be a tough battle, we know Ingela's going to fight so hard this cancer will wish it hadn't messed with her in the first place!</span>

<div>Since Ingela will be incurring many medical expenses and mom won't be able to work as usual during this time or for the foreseeable future, that's where she could really use your support! Ingela's Battle Against Cancer

<div>UPDATE<br /><br />Alexis' beautiful spirit is free, soaring into the next realm where there is only infinite love and freedom. Alexis transitioned the evening of Sunday, October 10th at Kaiser Oakland.<br /><br />The GoFundMe is still very much needed to pay for burial costs and a plot at Piedmont Cemetery, so Tina, Derek and all who love Alexis can have a beautiful place to go and be with her. The fund will also be used to honor Alexis' wishes that her two horses are boarded together, which is very expensive. Any excess funds will be divided between the StepOne School Scholarship Fund and horseback riding scholarship for underprivileged children.<br /><br />--<br />Anyone who has ever met Alexis knows that she is one of the bravest people you will ever meet. She has had cancer for the past three years and, tragically, in the last few weeks the treatment has stopped working. Very recently her symptoms increased and she was told that the cancer spread to her brain and spine, among other areas.

<div>Many of you know her as “Teacher Alexis” at Step One School, where she is cherished and adored, forever etched into the hearts of hundreds of children and families she has guided, loved and supported. Others know her as a gifted horse trainer and animal lover, mother to her three beloved animals – Cooper (horse), Lady Bug (horse) and Dozer (dog) who she ran around with daily at Hossmoor ranch. At 39, Alexis is witty, wise and such a good friend.

<div>Alexis is scheduled to come home this week to receive end-of-life care. The one thing we know is that the medical expenses for her end-of-life care will soon be insurmountable for her family. This page is being set up with the hope that, as her community we can help alleviate some of the financial burden to Alexis’ family as well as assist for care for her adored animals.

Remembering Alexis Walters

<strong>About Nate Torra, Massage Therapist</strong><br /><br /><p>Nate Torra is a California Massage Therapist who graduated from the National Holistic Institute in 2011. He was the only person in his class to graduate from the 720 hour program with a 4.0 GPA. <br />
<br />
He primarily specializes in deep tissue, MFT, swedish and shiatsu modalities. Nate currently works out of the Ice Chamber Athletic Performance Training Center in Richmond in addition to his own private practice. <br />
<br />
Nate's massages are therapeutically based.  His intent is to assist people with chronic pain, decreased range of motion and other physical ailments that can be remedied through his therapeutic bodywork. He's worked with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds including working professionals and elite athletes.</p><p>Born and raised in Massachusetts, Nate is a licensed massage therapist in the State of California and a graduate of National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, the first nationally-accredited school for massage therapy.<br />

With over 700 hours of massage experience, Nate specializes in a wide variety of modalities, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu and Myofascial Therapy (MFT).<br />
<br />
At the National Holistic Institute, he was the only student in his class to graduate with honors (4.0 GPA). Nate also received a Letter of Excellence during the Western Segment.<br />
