<div>On September 12th, just four days after I lost my mom, my world turned upside down again when my husband, Blake, suffered a stroke (he's only 40!). Blake is my rock — a loving husband, a devoted son, and someone who has always been there for others. He has a generous heart, a quiet strength, and a way of making people feel cared for without ever asking for anything in return.

<div>This stroke has changed our lives in ways we never imagined. Blake now faces a long road of recovery, and while he is determined and strong, the journey ahead is filled with challenges — physically, emotionally, and financially.

<div>Blake has always carried his share and more — helping to support our household by paying half of everything from the mortgage to the electricity, and stepping in to help his mom after his dad passed away. He took on the financing for her car so she wouldn’t lose reliable transportation.

<div>Now, with 26 weeks of unpaid leave from work, Blake can’t contribute the way he always has. On top of that, we’ll be paying for his insurance completely out-of-pocket, along with medical bills, therapy, and daily living costs. Each month, Blake normally covers his share of the mortgage, our family’s phone plan, lawn care (since I’m allergic), and two car payments — his own and his mom’s. Without his income, keeping up with these commitments feels overwhelming.

<div><strong>This fundraiser is to help keep our home safe and stable — to make sure the lights stay on, the mortgage is paid, and his mom doesn’t lose her car — while Blake focuses on what matters most: healing and recovery.</strong>

Support Blake’s Stroke Recovery Journey

<div>Useless, loser, worthless, pathetic, these are the words my depressed brain uses about me. I have had depressive episodes in the past and came through. But this time it’s different. This time, there is the added burden of financial disaster. My depressed brain has no interest in doing anything productive, even knowing that financial ruin is looming. I know that sounds ridiculous. I get it. It sounds ridiculous to me, and yet, I have not been able to do much in terms of productivity. I am close to losing my house, my car was repoed last week. I have zero income at the moment.

<div>I am embarrassed and ashamed of my life right now. I feel guilty, hopeless, devastated. I can’t believe I’ve turned to crowdfunding, but I’m doing it for two reasons: I obviously need money, and the second reason is to let others who may be feeling the same know that they are not the only ones. Mental health issues are real. Depression is not just “feeling sad” or “blue”. It is overwhelming, crushing, all-encompassing. It is not logical, but it is very real. I cannot adequately describe how it is right now.

<div>Last week, our amazingly talented and creative friend Amy was hospitalized for several emergency abdominal procedures, and she has been in the ICU since then. If you know Amy, you know she has an endless capacity for energetic love and compassion for everyone around her, from her family to her collection of friends near and far, for whom she is always making and sending gifts and selling her amazing artwork.

<div>Now, Amy is going to need us to bundle her up in love and support. <strong>Amy’s primary source of income is her artwork, but she is currently unable to work and is looking at a lengthy recovery.</strong> This fundraiser is to help Amy pay her medical expenses and supplement her income as she heals.

<div>On Friday, June 26 2020, I received the call that no mother ever wants get. My son, Ephrain was the victim of a targeted shooting, while working in downtown Orlando. Needless to say, our family and friends were shocked. Ephrain is a loving caring son, brother and friend with a heart of gold. Why would anyone want to hurt him??

<div>Late Thursday night, group of people pulled up on electric rental scooters and attempted to force their way in through the exit of Aero assaulting the small, female security worker working that door. Of course Ephrain and several others immediately rushed to assist their co-worker and a tussle ensued. Eventually, the group left, while issuing threats. No one really took them seriously, as people issue empty threats frequently in bars, but approximately an hour later, they returned, specifically targeting Ephrain. They caused a disturbance to distract him and when he went over to talk to them, the shooter came around and shot Ephrain twice in the abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital via ambulance where he underwent emergency surgery. The perpetrators of this act fled the scene in a white vehicle with damage to the right rear door.

<div>Ephrain sustained injuries to his abdomen where 1 bullet entered and exited. The path of the second bullet caused intestinal damage with bullet fragments damaging a vertebrae, causing spinal trauma. He has so far undergone 2 surgeries to remove/repair a portion of his intestine and colon and doctors say they will have to perform at least one more surgery to stabilize his spine. At this time, he is unable to move his legs, although he does have some sensation.

<div>Ephrain will likely have to go through months, if not years of rehabilitation, in addition to living with the psychological trauma of being shot. 
</div>

<div>Obviously, Ephrain will not be able to return to his job in security any time soon. But in addition to working in security, Ephrain is deeply involved in the tightly knit Orlando area Martial Arts community, where he has dedicated over a decade to teaching both children and adults. Patient and soft spoken, he has always been excellent with children, even when he, himself, was a child. Needless to say, without being able to work, the medical bills will start to pile up, as well as other living expenses, placing undue stress on Ephrain which will in turn, hinder his recovery efforts.

<div>Ask anyone and they'll tell you that Ephrain is one of the nicest, most generous and caring people that you'll ever meet. He's always willing to step up when needed. Now, during his time of need, we would love for our community to return some of the love and kindness that he has freely given over the years. Any little donation will help so that he can focus on his long road to recovery and rehabilitation.
