I understand you might have encountered countless similar links before finding mine, but circumstances have compelled me to take this step out of a profound fear for our lives. While my family home is in Rafah and I have not had to experience true displacement, at the onset of the war, we had to seek refuge away from our home due to the relentless bombardments. I can't begin to explain how watching your life decay while you're alive is such a series of painful epiphanies. You do not get to mourn your life once, every day is welcomed by a new process of mourning. Initially, I grieved over my niece's shattered dreams of attending school, a routine that included picking up her lunchables in the morning. Subsequently, I mourned the destruction of my workplace. Halfway into the war, the profound sorrow extended to mourning the brutal loss of my dearest friend. Since then, I have been mourning friends and loved ones every day.

Despite my extensive experience working for organizations promoting women's empowerment and resilience, I now find myself unexpectedly in a vulnerable position, requiring assistance to support and safeguard the future of my family.

<div><strong>Immediate Risk - Rafah Situation: </strong>

<div>The current situation in Rafah is a ticking time bomb. The city is incredibly overcrowded, so a 5-minute walk can take 1-2 hours. There is ongoing speculation that Rafah is next in line for a ground invasion. After enduring 150 days of war, the prospect of going through this ordeal again is beyond comprehension. It seems as though we are queued up, observing what fate has in store for us following the fate of our friends and loved ones in the North. Contemplating the prospect of my father, mother, and sister experiencing this is frightening, but it's even more distressing to imagine. We are all now living together and we are going through this collective fear together. While it is comforting to have my family in one place, I wish we would be in the same place safely together.

<div>My name is Abdalkarim. I grew up in Palestine, where education was always valued as a pathway to a better life. Fueled by this belief, I pursued my passion for computer science and engineering, graduating from university in 2018. The prospect of furthering my studies with a master's degree in India was a dream come true, a testament to years of hard work and dedication.

<div>However, dreams can quickly turn into nightmares. Shortly after embarking on this exciting journey, my family's home was destroyed by Israeli bombs. At that moment, my priorities shifted. As their son, I couldn't bear to leave my family behind in the midst of such devastation. So, I made the difficult decision to return to Palestine, leaving behind my academic pursuits.

<div>But joy turned to despair as war engulfed our lives once again. Our newly built home was turned into rubble, and the threat of death belongs to our daily life. In the midst of chaos and destruction, Lana gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Selen. Her arrival amidst the horrors of war felt like a miracle—a beacon of hope in our darkest hour.

<div>Yet, our struggles continue. With our home destroyed, basic necessities like food, water, and electricity became luxuries. Every day we fear for our life. Everyday is a battle for survival, a constant fear of the unknown. The future we once dreamed of now feels like another planet, overshadowed by the harsh reality of this genocide.

Help the Hamed Family Survive Onslaught

<div>The war in Gaza destroyed her life, her family's house, and her clinic, which was the biggest achievement in her life and the dream she struggled for years to achieve.

<div>Neveen Clinic, which was destroyed, provided medical services at nominal prices. It was renowned for supporting vulnerable patient groups and assisting in restoring vision, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

I am an aspiring human rights attorney from New York City and am a first generation American descendant of Ashkenazi holocaust survivors. My family has been directly impacted by the violence of antisemitism and the evil that is genocide fueled by racism. <div>Noura Al-Akkad is a 34 year old mother of four young children, Sandi, Basand, Mohammed, &amp; Siraj. She parents them with her loving husband, Sameh. They are currently in their homeland of Gaza, Palestine fighting day in and day out to escape brutal murder while struggling to meet their basic survival needs, and this says nothing of the pain and discomfort they experience constantly.

<div>Before October 7, 2023 Noura and her family lived a beautiful, simple life. The kids went to school, they all enjoyed the comfort of their home, playing with each other and their pet parakeet, Cookie, and eating nourishing meals together as a family. That all changed upon the start of this genocide, when life turned into something straight out of nightmares.

<div>Now, Noura's children will grow up having seen and experienced the unthinkable. Now, Noura and her family move at the whim of the occupation forces, having to leave their already unmanageable living conditions (a makeshift tent surrounded by dirt, rubble, and exposed to the elements) .. to be displaced time and time again as the sounds of bombs and explosives go off in the background, if not directly nearby. Noura, Sameh, and their children are naturally traumatized, as is she, and they can't take it anymore .. but they have no choice.

<div>Some months ago, Noura's children developed an illness of the skin, whereby blisters and rashes formed all across their bodies. The children suffered as they continued to live in uninhabitable conditions without a consistent way to clean their wounds. They continue to struggle to access medical care, as the occupation continues to bomb medical facilities, murder healthcare workers, and blockade necessary equipment. <div>Over a year later and the circumstances have only gotten worse. More and more people continue to be murdered day in and day out right before their eyes, the occupation continues to block aid from entering Gaza, and when it does enter, because of scarcity necessities are unimaginably expensive. They rely entirely on your donations to be able to purchase everything they need to survive. On top of that, they have to pay between 3-10 times what you or I would ever think of paying for things as simple as produce, water, soap, shoes, socks, coats, and plastic materials for repairing their makeshift shelters.

<div>The children need clothes so that they are not filthy after weeks of wearing the same thing. The entire family is constantly rationing food, leaving them malnourished with no real alternative. Their immune and nervous systems are defeated. They all DEPEND on US to help them get their next meal, their next bottled water, medicine, socks, shoes, clothes .. all things that no human should have to beg for, especially a child. As Noura uses your donations, she will update us on their purchases (within reason) and we will share this with you all so that you can see the impact of your donations.

<div>And all of this is to say nothing of the slim possibility of escaping this nightmare. Though the occupation has blocked people from seeking safe passage into Egypt for a while now, when the rare opportunity arises the cost of exiting through the Rafah Gate ranges between $7,000 to $8,000 for adults, and $2,000 to $3,000 for children. This does not include the cost of travel expenses and the cost of basic survival need, which are both extremely expensive.

<div>All money from this fundraiser will be going toward the survival of this family in the hopes that when this horrific chapter ends, they will all be alive and able to begin their journey to healing and trying to piece their lives back together. From my experience, the amount you will see on the fundraiser likely if not definitely will have already been spent by the time you see it. Spent on essentials needed for survival each and every day; the cost of simply staying alive.
