Hope Artiste is an award-winning mill restoration project and a hub of cultural activity fostering collaboration and innovation among a diverse community of creatives and professionals. Just minutes from downtown Providence, the Village is run by an all-women management team, and hosts a creative mix of art studios, live/work lofts, retail shops, light industrial workshops and professional office suites.

As queer femmes ourselves, we know the challenges that come with seeking welcoming, equitable platforms to showcase our work, especially during a time where local venues are shutting down or raising their rents at an alarming rate. Want to create but not ready to perform or showcase? We love to facilitate educational experiences! We believe that anybody can be an artist, and will offer classes and workshops to support curiosity, new pursuits, and honing one’s craft across various disciplines.

We have a proven track record for supplying our events with harm reduction supplies, organizing socials for vulnerable community members and industry workers, and booking qualified educators for relevant trainings. We strive to use our platform to share mutual aid requests, and will always prioritize booking our marginalized comrades to display, vend or perform at our events. In ways particular to each of us individually, we are also members of the communities we serve. We do our best to listen first and act second.

<div>As frequent collaborators, we’ve made the decision to pool our resources into a central location, allowing for easier workflow and dedicated focus to our independent and joint projects. After months (and let’s be honest– years) of our crafts, paintings, construction and costumes reigning in terror in our personal homes, filling our cars with bags and boxes from constant hauling back and forth to venues, the anxiety of finding and fixing things from the chaos of not having a centralized working space, and the fatigue from digital meetings and WFH isolation, we’ve thrown in the towel and decided to invest in a space that supports the complexity of our professional needs. Recent events have almost always concluded with the four of us sitting in a greenroom after a show saying “hey we really need to get a space. This is a lot.” Well, here we are! Putting that need into action, at last.

<div>We are excited by the potential to streamline our operations and join the Hope Artiste community, knowing that our studio is located in a building that is also home to The MET, has four unique and accessible venues run by Hope Events, along with several other independently-run theaters, production studios, and workshop spaces. The time and energy regained from stressful transportation logistics and finding meeting spaces for consultations will be invaluable, and repurposed to doing what we’re most talented and passionate about.

Help Launch A New Queer Femme Maker Space & Studio!

<div>Since moving back to PVD post covid, it’s been an endless struggle for us to try and keep up with bills. We’ve done our best to avoid evictions as much as possible, but this has been an issue for the last year and has unfortunately reached the point of an actual eviction. We’re looking to relocate to Las Vegas, where we have a wide spectrum of job opportunities and better housing options available to us. A warmer climate is also a welcomed change for Slepting who has AS (ankylosing spondylitis), a condition that causes the fluid between his joints to calcify and limit mobility, which is intensified throughout New England winters. We know money is tight for everyone right now, but every dollar helps in us securing a better home with a brighter future.

<div>Hi everyone, if you didnt know my name is Joe and earlier this year I was diagnosed with PAH(Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension). Recently, the past few months, I have had complications and am now on oxygen therapy and unable to work. I'm always the one who offers my help to anyone, and I rarely ever ask for it in return.

<div>I am raising funds for a Portable Oxygen Concentrator, do better help me with easier mobility and travel. Brand new w/basic accessories go for around $5,000 total. I am looking for one under $2000 and that is all I need. I'll be searching in marketplace and Craigslist.

<div>With the heaviest of hearts, and the utmost consideration for our financial and mental well-being, and the community we have found our home with - the time has come to clean up and close the doors for the last time.

<div>As of the end of March, we will no longer be operating out of the space we have all come together to build - Focal.

<div>Our plan from here on out is not much different than the original. We will assist the DIY and underground in any way that we can. Whether it be our own curation, or assisting you with yours, we ensure that quality will not be lost on the underground experience. In order to go about this, however, we first have to get ourselves back on a sustainable track.

<div>For the last two and a half years, we have spent countless hours building out a versatile, all-inclusive creative space that catered to the fringe underground within the local, regional, national, and even international community. We have dabbled in just about everything art and production oriented. From live stream electronic events during a time when shows seemed like a thing of the past, to the dirtiest grind right up in your face, right here in-house. Video/photo shoots, gallery displays, dancing, charity fundraisers, community discussion, recording sessions, artists markets, the list goes on forever.

<div>Quality sound, lighting, cameras, and internet+ were used to make that happen, among plenty of other factors that require dedication and time put into ensuring the means of production were used to their fullest extent. Unfortunately, most of said equipment cost a hell of a lot of money. Juggling the cost of equipment, utilities, overhead, and other expenses such as liability insurance and maintaining our LLC, became unsustainable and began to gravely affect our personal financial situations.

<div>Mountains of expenses quickly began to accrue as much as any other new business, with simply nowhere near the revenue stream to stay afloat — a lot of expenses that are still in need of settlement, hanging over our heads for the foreseeable future. We are reaching out to our beloved community, to folks near and far for help with settling our outstanding debts.

<div>We are asking for help on the first 10k of what is owed to eventually continue functioning as Focal in some capacity. While it doesn’t cover everything, it would be a crucial start not only to get things completely settled but also to help maintain our personal livelihoods during this grueling transition process.

My Horrific Nightmare.. the horrors of Toxic ImplantsAs I write this I must tell you I am in enormous pain, mostly the pain of a broken heart  but also a broken body.. my Spirit seems barely alive.  I have a child, her name is Madison Rose.. Madison is my world as anyone could and would attest to.  <img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/3508742_fb_1441741801.9615_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /><br /><br /><br />I have four grown children as well, I love them every bit as much but we are apart now.. this sadly happens to many families that struggle with this "unnamed illness" Sufferers lose friends and even family members due to the chronic and progressive sickness. <br /><br />I have been sick for a long time now and my children have" had enough".  <br /><br />They want me to smarten up and be mom.  I understand but it hurts.<br /><br /> What my children don't understand is thier mom is dying of Toxic Implant Disease, Bio-toxin Ilness, Mercury Poisoning, Lupus.. brought on by Mercury poisoning and as Dr. Susan Kolb, Atlanta put it to me "A Toxic Soup" during our 4 1/2 consultation 2 weeks ago.  <br />I am to start detoxification Supplements and the proper Meds prescribed by Dr. Kolb to start the detoxification process before surgery. <br /><br />The surgery although life saving, is not covered by my Insurance.  Insurance will not pay for this because there is no name for it as of yet. There is an ongoing battle and it's all about greed.  Once this turns to Cancer, they will pay.  Try to imagine that..  <br /><br />Dr. Kolb told me my liver, kidneys and other organ are being compromised daily, making time matter.  I have spoken in this past few weeks with women that have been this sick and recovered nearly 100% in the following year. <br />This brings hope to me, I am blessed to have been able to see Dr. Kolb as she is considered not only a Pioneer in this field but a highly respected Dr. and expert, The "go to" person when nobody else is even able to diagnose this affliction. I will be in great hands.<br /><br />A highly specialized Surgery called "En Bloc Explantation" is what I need, there are only a small group of Doctors that are trained to perform this very delicate Surgery.<br /><br />The "Perfect Storm" happened when my breast Implants began to leak the many toxic chemicals,throw in some black mold, Mercury, Arsenic and lead and you have one incredible .. yes, "toxic stew"..     I have so many symptoms and they are rapidly progressing. I will tell you some of them now..<br /><br />1. Seizures<br />2. Inability to regulate body temperature<br />3. Night sweats, every night<br />4."Brain fog"<br />5. Chronic Staph and Sinus Infections.. I have sores in my nose and ears of this morning<br />6. Tremors.. this is new and terrifying.<br />7. Ringing in my ears<br />8. Hideous sores across my entire chest.<br />9. Severe foot cramps and hand cramps<br />10. Complete exhaustion 5 out of 7 days <br />11. Chronic Kidney issues resulting in near kidney failure, twice<br />12. Dilated left kidney<br />13. Losing my hair<br />14. Nausea 24/7, vomiting<br />15. Joint pain, severe<br />16. Tingling and numbnes<br />17. Stumbling, clumsiness<br />18. Chronic urinary Tract infections 5 in three months recently.<br />19. Jaundice<br />20. Watery eyes<br />21. Static shocks, constantly<br />22.  Burning pain in my right breast, shoulder and across my back.. feels like someone with a torch going on my upper back.<br />23. Vertigo<br />24.Pain in my legs, heaviness<br /><br />There are more things happening as well but it is all so overwhelming.<br /><br /><br /><br />Regarding the  implants..this was sadly an uninformed decision I made in younger years, praying it doesn't cost me my life. IfI do not have these "Toxic bags" removed from within an inch of my lungs soon, it will. My liver is suffering. <br /><br />AFTER my miracle I  face a year of Chelation Therapy/detoxification of mold, yeast and Heavy metals with the  knowing I can be a POWERFUL example for Mads and for anyone that needs someone to hold on to through this horrific , battle that I fight accompanied only by a few Earth Angel friends, and one sister.<br /><br />I lost my Soulmate and Mads her"daddy"nearly 4 years ago.. with a shredded heart and weary soul I got us through with Gods help, three years of skirting homelessness after losing our home, we had to endure 6 moves before we finally found a safe place that was affordable! Please help..
