<div>Ruby’s Story
</div>
<div>Ruby is a mum in our school community who has already been through more than most of us could imagine — beating a rare and aggressive cancer, only to be left with severe lymphedema as a result of her treatment. Lymphedema is a progressive, incurable disease that causes swelling, pain, and serious risk of infection.
</div>
<div>Ruby now needs a highly specialised surgery called a vascularized submental lymph node flap transfer, which is not available here in the UK. The only option is to travel to Taiwan to receive life-changing care that could relieve her pain, prevent life-threatening infections, and help her maintain her mobility and independence.

<div>Our school community has come together to help Ruby get there. Throughout May, we are collectively running the distance from Wirral to Taiwan — 9,894 km — and a group of our staff are running a marathon to help raise funds. Every mile we run is a step closer to giving Ruby the chance to move forward without pain and fear.
