Hi, my name is Akeelah K. Hogan and this past June I successfully graduated from Abraham Lincoln high school in San Francisco, CA. I have been accepted and will start my 4 year college journey at Sacramento State University, a top school in Northern California. I will major in health science to become a nurse practitioner and minor in sports medicine! Through scholarships and grants my tuition and book fees were awarded for the next 4 years! Unfortunately the dorm fee and meal plan was not included with the scholarships I was awarded. I come from a first generation college bound household who have sacrificed everything for me and my siblings. With me being the first girl to graduate being that my mom didn't because she had my oldest brother at such a young age , it is very important to my family as I am the 1st to attend a 4 year University. I come with a humble, and open heart asking for help in any way for my room and board. With the support from my Village, Church Family, Community Mentors, teachers that have guided me since Elementary school I am hopeful that I will be able to raise the $7,000 dollars that is needed for my remaining housing cost for this year! Given the dynamics of my family's financial situation I am afraid this large amount will put a stress on them to ensure I am living my dream and my promise, that I made it to my youngest brother and grandfather who passed away last year that I would attend a 4year College and Graduate. The donations that I will receive will go towards my housing, meal plan as needed. Any amount you can give or even share of my story will be greatly appreciated Thank you
