<div>We have been displaced over a dozen times. We never know when we will be displaced again, as the heavy bombing continues in many areas. We are now squeezing into a single tent in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis. The weather is very, very hot and we have few means of relief from it. We also have no protection from biting insects and other pests which can lead to skin infections. Disease spreads quickly due to overcrowding and poor sanitation, with few toilets and showers available for hundreds and even thousands of people.

<div>This difficulty is compounded when suffering from diarrhea, which is widespread across Gaza and has affected our family too. To make things worse, there is also a shortage of medical care. Both of my parents have high blood pressure, and my mother has heart disease, while my father has diabetes and a herniated disc that makes it difficult for him to walk. They are searching for medical treatment, but it is difficult to find – and too expensive.

<div>Our daily life is searching for food and clean water to drink, due to shortages of both; high prices mean we never have enough money to provide for our needs. (It is hard to imagine, but food costs at least 10 times what it used to – sometimes 100 times.) We also constantly search for firewood, because there is a lack of electricity. It takes a lot of effort to gain access to power to charge up our cellphones and connect to the internet.

I Wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything happens to my closest family members and the people who make me feel rooted.

<div>My initial goal for creating this fundraiser is to gather the exorbitant amounts of money demanded by the Egyptian authorities. The fees for crossing Rafah Border starts at $5,000 per person. I adopted Chewie almost 3 years ago and recently around his 3rd birthday I thought he had a UTI so I took him to the vet to get antibiotics and eventually Meloxicam for his pain. As time went by he was still in pain when urinating and defecating.

<div>Last week, I was able to get x-rays done for him at the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue with their visiting veterinarian Dr. Nenn. In the x-ray, you can see that he has a bladder stone that requires surgery to be removed. Deep down I was hoping it would be a small stone he could eventually pass but it's unfortunately not the case.

<div>His veterinarian at Studio City Animal Hospital, unfortunately, cannot perform the surgery. At the moment, as a pet parent, I am researching the best doctor for him so he can be in the best hands possible. I was able to get pet insurance for him through Nationwide, (the only insurance company that will insure guinea pigs) but they will not cover/reimburse me for the cost as this is considered a "pre-existing" condition.

<div>To some, it may seem easier to not do the surgery but Chewie... he is my little spark that has kept me going. Despite him being such a small animal, he holds such a big place in my heart. If you know me and have met Chewie, you know how much love I have for him and I want to give him the best life possible.

<div>Although to some he’s “just a guinea pig, a rodent,” he is truly my baby. I adopted him in 2020 during the pandemic when I mentally and emotionally needed him and we’ve been attached ever since. Small animals like these have so much love to give and are so misunderstood, and as I’ve had the pleasure of being Chewie’s mom he’s shown me his personality and I love him with all my heart.

<div>On Sunday, May 7, many of the biggest names in entertainment are coming together to raise funds for LGBTQIA causes to fight back against the recent false political narrative that drag queens and trans people are dangerous to children and society.

<div>All funds raised will go exclusively to nonprofits focused on LGBTQ activism as well as local charities combating harmful bills against the LGBTQIA+ communities across the nation. A list of nonprofits is ongoing.

Drag Isn't Dangerous

<div>Hey everyone :) my name is Dee, and I am currently going through one of the most intense health scares of my life. There’s a team of 7+ doctors helping me get to the bottom of this flare-up; during these past few weeks I’ve been to the ER 3 times and eventually got admitted due to my symptoms not improving enough for me to go home. While being hospitalized I’ve reached out to specialists who are more aware of the intricacies of my conditions, (they suspect HAE, MCAS, EDS, and POTS are in a hectic hell-storm wreaking havoc on my body all at once), and the biggest underlying issue includes mold toxicity (CIRS).

<div>Because my body is so overloaded with mycotoxins, even the most mundane of things are making my body react with anaphylaxis. Even on the right diet, protocols, supplements and medicines, I will continue to relapse and get more sick unless I change my living situation. 
</div>

<div>As you all can probably imagine, it’s not easy to find a mold-free living situation, let alone is it easy to do it in such a short period of time with such urgency. On top of urgently finding new housing that’s CIRS approved, I also will need to be working with specialist doctors outside of my insurance network, as my regular doctors simply aren’t well-versed in these conditions. Some of the diagnostic tests run upwards $300-$500 each, plus the medical expenses of this hospital stay, plus ongoing costs of special medicine, supplements, and out-of-network doctors’ appointment expenses…this will put me out thousands of dollars easily.

<div>During this time I have had to postpone my retreat (a source of income), as well as put off any launches due to my fragile health state. I am barely able to eat more than 5 foods, lost 15lbs during this 3 week period, need to be hooked onto IV’s constantly to stay hydrated, and don’t have enough strength to walk further than the bathroom. On top of all of these changes, I need to make sure I’m under as little stress as possible, since stress can trigger reactions that put me right back to square one.

<div>This is a lot, I know. All of these health issues have been compiling over years, and while I’ve been doing my best to manage them on my own, I simply can’t do that anymore. I’m currently in survival mode; my best plan of action is to put everything on pause and get these issues resolved as soon as possible so I can survive and hopefully, be able to thrive once again and get back to doing the things I love. Help Dee Survive a Chronic Health Emergency

<div>Hi, my name is Katie Aaron and I'm fundraising alongside David Moore and Ryan Hostetler for our best friend Zac Owens. Zac was the victim of a devastating hit and run while he was cycling by the Downtown KC airport on Thursday 12/8/2022. Zac is an avid rider and we want to get him healthy and back on his bike as soon as possible.

<div>Zac was hit head-on by the vehicle as it was driving on the wrong side of the road and he suffered numerous injuries to the left side of his body. He had two open compound fractures to his femur and 3 lacerations to his left leg, as well as 4 lacerations to his left hand that resulted in exposed tendons. He went through emergency surgery on Thursday night, followed by an additional surgery on Saturday, and will have more in the future to correct all the damage.

<div>We do not know who hit Zac, but we know that he was struck by a white sedan. The cops are currently investigating in hopes of finding the perpetrator.

<div>Our fierce, immensely talented, and loyal friend Casandra Corrales-Brupbacher has been involved in a very long health journey that has most recently culminated in a cancer diagnosis.

<div>What began as a discovery of uterine fibroids back in the late summer of 2020, evolved into endless delays in receiving the proper medical attention and care she needed. Many negligent doctors dismissed her problems. This led to multiple ER stints, emergency blood transfusions, an exhausting number of failed treatments that caused further detriment to her health and livelihood, and due to becoming highly anemic she has not been able to fully participate in her work and life. She is finally – and thankfully – under the care and support of the right medical team.

<div>After a procedure that removed her uterine fibroid in early August of this year, which doctors believed would rid her of the extremely heavy and constant bleeding and agony, Cas was informed by her doctors that they had found an extremely rare cancer, that goes by the name of STUMP. Smoothe Tumor of Uncertain Malignant Potential. The only real treatment now is a full hysterectomy. Her surgery date is this October 25th which will be followed by another extended period of healing and no work. She will forever have to be monitored by the doctors but hopefully getting this hysterectomy will finally allow our girl to move on from this chapter, Cancer Free!

<div>Throughout all of this, Cas has been and continues to be very private about these issues, sharing only with her closest associates and has been managing a majority of this struggle by herself, all while still finding the strength to support others over the last two years. She has co-founded a dance krewe that supports not only it’s members but also the New Orleans community, caring and nurturing her clientele at the salon, and even going above and beyond to care for her own friends and family during their hard moments. This is the friend who always has your back. Her determination has superseded all of this. With that said, this has greatly impacted her physicality and ability to work consistently for quite a while.

<div>Here’s where we get to step up and be the community for Cas that she has been for so many of us! Cancer absolutely sucks, as does having to tirelessly advocate for yourself in a system that often dismisses women’s health issues. After her procedure in October, she will need several weeks of recovery, this means once again not being able to do her job, and that’s on top of all of the missed work prior to now.

<div>This process has been very taxing on Cas, and also her husband Bailey, both of whom have remained very private about the process to this point, sharing their burden with very few and carrying the load with grace. It took a lot of convincing to convince them to accept this help! Her extremely supportive and loving husband, Bailey, has stepped up in ways that one could only hope, working twice as hard to keep both of them afloat but who is certainly also starting to feel the struggles and stressors as well. As many of us well know that extensive medical bills, regular bills, everyday household expenses, all add up quickly.

After four years, three surgeries, countless hospital stays and multiple specialists, I have officially been diagnosed with Deep Infiltrating Pelvic Endometriosis, Adenomyosis and PCOS. Since the type of endometriosis that I have is so aggressive, it has tethered four of my organs together and has started to infiltrate even more. This has caused numerous other health issues that I have needed to get treated, most recently being a small bowel obstruction where I was admitted in the hospital for five days. I have been working alongside humanitarian aid groups, decorated military veterans, and activists on the ground in Kabul, fighting to save people who otherwise have no chance at survival in the Taliban-occupied Kabul.<br /><br />The individuals in question are high-value targets - Afghan men and women who have worked as human rights lawyers, champions of Women’s and LGBTQ rights, journalists, government liaisons, artists, and interpreters - all of whom are at <strong>imminent risk of being executed by the Taliban,</strong> along with their families. We will be taking full family units.<br /><br />If these people do not get rescued as soon as possible, neither they nor their family will make it through the month. The Taliban have a KILL LIST and are going door to door, searching for these people and reportedly <strong>killing them on sight if found</strong>. Every one of these individuals on the manifest have been vetted.<br /><br />Due to the rapidly deteriorating situation in Kabul, this rescue mission will only be possible if $550,000 is raised to fuel 2 airplanes to fly into Kabul from a foreign country.  <strong>If we raise twice the amount ($1,100,000), we’ll do another run. There are enough people in need to make many round-trips with our two airplanes. We will continue multiplying as goals are met. </strong><br /><br />With help from people on the ground in Kabul, and the newfound security of the airport due to increased US presence — we have arranged for a <strong>safe onboarding process</strong>.
