<div>My mum Sue (retired nurse of 40+ years), is a well loved nanny, mum and wife and has had a very hard 2023 so far after being diagnosed with Bowel cancer in March and undergoing a long operation to remove a large portion of the cancer. She has since been undergoing Chemotherapy and was due to finish her treatment in October of this year. Sadly they have since found another tumor in her bile duct which is causing issues with her Liver.

<div>Whilst researching treatment options we have found that she is a candidate for targeted dendritic Immunotherapy but sadly it is not covered on the French healthcare system where she moved 4 years ago to be a live in carer for my elderly grandparents. Targeted dendritic Immunotherapy offers a very high success rate of treating her cancer so we as a family are trying all we can to raise the funds needed so she can receive the treatment, however at £30,000 it is not cheap and as you can imagine we are all very stressed over how we can raise such a large amount. Unfortunately the only other potential option for treatment is a further large and complicated surgery which has a high mortality rate and she may never fully recover from.

We are hopeful that with the immunotherapy she can go on to lead a long and pain free life meaning she will be around to see her beloved grandson grow up.

<div>The 54321 Challenge is about multiple Teams of 5 People over 4 DAYS, 3 CYCLES, 2 MOUNTAINS for 1 Cause which is to raise much needed funds for a number of charities.

<div>The Challenge will take place from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st of August 2022 incl in County Kerry, Ireland and will include the following;

<div>Day 1 (Thursday)  – Cycle the Ring of Kerry – 120 miles.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Day 2 (Friday) – Climb Carrantuohill – Highest Mountain in Ireland at 3414’.
</div>

</div>
<div>Day 3 (Saturday) – Cycle from Killarney to Cahirciveen via Ballaghasheen Pass and then climb Cnoc na Tobhar Mountain.
</div>

</div>
<div>Day 4 (Sunday) – Cycle from Cahirciveen around the Skellig Ring – 90 Km.
</div>

<div>We are completing the challenge on behalf of the chosen charities, which are Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, Adapt Kerry, Skellig Stars &amp; Kerry Hospice Foundation.

54321 Challenge - 10 years - Team Murphy

<div>Following the evacuation of Afghanistan in late August of 2021, 55,000 Afghan families were housed on military bases in the US, awaiting housing opportunities. While some individuals and families were successfully resettled in the United States, many of them had to leave family members behind in Afghanistan. Fortunately, right here in the Southern Tier, in Endicott, NY, we are working to reunite a family.

<div>In 2022 we welcomed a family of 6 to the Southern Tier. However, the husband of the eldest daughter was unable to evacuate Afghanistan at that time. Now, through a private Sponsor Circle, we have been able to support reunification of the family. STAR, Southern Tier Afghan Resettlement group, was formed in November of 2021 to provide a home for Afghans evacuated from Kabul and the surrounding towns and villages. We have continued our efforts to support the reunification of the entire family.

Southern Tier Afghan Resettlement Fund

Meet my dear friend Manuela. Manu is 37 years old and lives in a little village in England with her husband Scott, 2 daughters Chrissy and Maisie, a pug named Milo and 2 cats called Rosie and Henry. <br /><br /> Last summer, Manu was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of brain tumour. After surgery in London, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she unfortunately received the very sad news earlier this year, that the tumour has grown back. Manu had a second surgery in February this year and is currently recovering and undergoing further post-operative treatment. <br /><br /> We want to help her getting the best treatment possible to allow her to spend precious time with her family and friends. In particular we want to enable her to receive a therapy called Optune (<a href="https://www.optune.com/" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.optune.com/</a>) here in the UK.  <br /><br />A glioblastoma is a fast growing, aggressive tumour. Optune is a wearable, portable, FDA-approved treatment that creates low-intensity, wave-like electric fields called Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields), which interfere with GBM cell division. This action slows or stops GBM tumor cells from dividing and may destroy them. In a large clinical study, people who added Optune to chemotherapy, had a greater opportunity to live longer than those who used chemotherapy alone. <br /><br /> Even though there are 1300 certified treatment centres in the USA and financed by many health systems in Europe, it is not supported in the UK. Manu’s oncologists here in the UK is supportive of the treatment and highlighted the positives effects of the device. <br /><br /> The treatment costs around GBP 19.000 per month. Please help us to make this treatment happening for Manu to give her a better chance to fight this tumour. <br /><br />Thank YOU!!!

Help Manuela fight brain tumour with Optune

Our dear friend Patryk Kacprowicz, a father of two young children, was critically injured when crossing the road outside his home in Hospital, Co. Limerick on Wednesday evening. <br /><br />Patryk and his fiancee  Katarzyna have been living in Hospital and are actively involved in the community, especially in the tennis club where Patryk was an active member. Instead of  looking forward to Santa Claus coming next week, his two young children Nicholas and Nanett, are now preparing to say a final farewell to their doting father. <br /><br />Please  make any contribution you can to help alleviate the financial pressures that his family will now bear in preparing for his funeral and also in the future. This will give his family one less thing to worry about at this terrible time.<br /><br />Being the giver that he was, <strong>Patryk donated 4 of his organs to save the lives of others</strong> - his legacy now lives on through the lives he's saved. <br /><br />Katarzyna, who has been with Patryk for the last 17 years has asked us all to pray for her family and for Patryks soul and give her strength for her children.<br /><br />Patryk, may you RIP.<br /><br />Elaine  Carroll,Pro of Hospital Tennis Club, will  be  in  charge  of  final expenses.

Karen has not been seen since.<br /><br />This page has been set up by Karen's University of Limerick Nursing Classmates in the hope of raising funds to help Karen's family in any way possible during this difficult time.<br /><br />Please donate anything you can to assist with accomodation expenses, travel expenses and unkeep of their farm in Co.
