<div>Evelyn's Medical Journey:
</div>
<div>Our beloved Evelyn has been through an unimaginable ordeal, and it's far from over. What began in late January 2025 as a routine run to the hospital turned out to be a very serious painful bowel obstruction.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Evelyn's initial hospitalization led to extensive surgery – a laparotomy, hernia repairs, and even a re-sectioning of her small bowel. Any one of those procedures is a major undertaking, but the combination has put an immense strain on her body.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Instead of the hoped-for recovery, Evelyn's body has been besieged by a relentless abdominal wound infection. Imagine the agony of that – constant pain, the fear of complications, and the sheer exhaustion of fighting such a stubborn illness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The infection has been so severe that Evelyn has required repeated hospitalizations, continuous IV antibiotics, and even a PEG tube inserted for feeding because her body couldn't process food normally. Think of how disruptive and dehumanizing that must feel, the constant medical interventions, the inability to enjoy a simple meal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And now, the medical team is preparing Evelyn for yet another procedure next week, her fourth one in as many months, a clear sign that her body is still in crisis. The toll this takes, not just on her body but on her spirit, is hard to fathom.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Beyond the immediate crisis, Evelyn is also battling ongoing health conditions – the onset of diabetes, hypothyroidism, and chronic anemia. Each of these requires its own careful management, and they only complicate her ability to heal from these surgeries and infection.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Evelyn's strength and resilience are truly remarkable. But the reality is that she is facing a long and arduous journey. The medical bills are mounting, the uncertainty is overwhelming, and the emotional and physical strain is immense. We need your support – not just your sympathy, but tangible help to ease the burden and allow Evelyn to focus on the fight for her health.

Support Evelyn's Battle: Surgeries & Healing

<div>We are heartbroken to share that on September 13, 2021, we unexpectedly lost our beloved Maria Duran due to a heart condition (Aortic dissection). She was 36 years old and taken too soon. Those that knew Maria, loved her. She loved fiercely and lived fully. To have known her was a privilege and to be loved by her was an absolute gift.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>She was a selfless woman that never hesitated to help others. Her radiant energy had a way of making people feel joyful, proud, and filled with hope.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Anytime she saw an airplane her face would light up. Airplanes were fascinating and one of her greatest passions. She was proud to be a United employee and greatly adored her work family and the many friendships she made there.
</div>

<div><br />This fund has been started by Maria’s sisters to assist with the unprecedented financial costs for the funeral and burial.

<div>We are moved by all the stories and memories of Maria. Please continue to share those memories with us by posting on her Facebook page or dropping a note below.
