Help Support Katrina Guinan in Her Time of Need!

 Hi, I’m Katrina, and I’m reaching out to you today because I have recently been diagnosed with severe liver disease and will need a full liver transplant as soon as I am matched. For the past 6 months, I have been living a life I never imagined would be mine. In mid September I went to Urgent Care for abdominal pain that had been going on for about a week. The pain was accompanied by bloating and constipation. So, I thought I might have a bowel obstruction. After a very short time at Urgent Care, they sent me to the Emergency Department (ED) at my local hospital. The ED ran labs which led them to ordering a sonogram of my liver, here they found severe scarring and ran additional blood work to obtain my MELD score (Model for Endstage Liver Disease). At this point I was admitted to the hospital and they began aggressive oral treatment. The next morning, I was told that my life expectancy is 3 months. I am taking 9 medications a day and have labs done every two weeks in conjunction with visits to my GI doc. Luckily the medications have kept me stable but they are not working to bring my liver to a “compensated” state, which was the hope. After many doctor visits and procedures (paracentesis, endoscopy, colonoscopy) at my local hospital, I have been referred to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. This is one of the best transplant centers in the country! Unfortunately, every visit comes with the cost of travel, hotel stay, and of course the medical bills. This has been incredibly tough for not only me, but for my children as well and we are doing everything we can to navigate this difficult time.

 We are seeking support to help cover the cost of the transplant, lifelong medication, and travel/hotel costs to Boston for appointments. Here’s a breakdown of what your contributions will help with:

<div>Hi, my name is Christina Morris and I opened a Rooted Yoga in November 2021. We have an amazing yoga and reiki community that we have grown with over the last year and a half that we have been open. Callie, Christine and myself have poured our hearts into this space and have deep roots in our community, which has also been left so completely in need right now too. 
</div>
<div>As many as you know, the recent flooding that has devastated so much of Central Vermont has also devastated our studio and reiki space. We are still assessing our losses and trying to figure out what it will cost to rebuild the studio. The flooring needs to come out and be replaced as well as the walls. We do not yet know how much water is being held by the granite blocks that are behind the walls that flood waters came in through during the recent flooding. Currently, we have blowers and dehumidifiers drying the space out, but it is hard to say how we are going to move forward right now.

<div>All funds raised will go towards rebuilding efforts.

<div>We are just living in the moment and seeing how we can best navigate this. 
</div>
<div>Currently, as of yesterday, we are operating out of a temporary space that is about a quarter of the size of our studio, and we are so grateful to have that space to be in, but we also cannot bring as much revenue in due to size restrictions. So in addition to rebuilding the studio, we will need a place to land for the month of August so we can continue doing what we love and holding space for our community that desperately needs their bodies, minds and spirits tended to more so now than ever. Help us rebuild Rooted Yoga!

<div>Drew was in a gnarly accident on January 28, 2023 doing what he loves most - riding his dirtbike. He was taken to the local hospital and soon transferred to UAB Ortho Trauma where he would undergo his first of multiple surgeries. Drew suffered a catastrophic injury to his right ankle including a shattered calcaneus (heel bone) and multiple ligament tears which caused his foot to separate from the lower part of his leg. He also fractured his T4/T5 and has several broken ribs. At this time, he is in good spirits and is awaiting a second surgery on his ankle. We will use this page to post updates on his road to recovery.

<div>If you've been around the track, you know that Drew is always smiling and encouraging kiddos as he waves that finish line flag! He is a true light to the Alabama motocross community and is always one of the first to lend a helping hand. Drew will be unable to drive and out of work for some time while he heals. We put this page together in hopes of raising money to help cover hospital expenses and lower the financial burden during his recovery. Any amount is greatly appreciated - We just want our friend back on his feet ASAP without the stress and worry about finances along the way!

<div>Our beloved Bill Lignos (William M Lignos) suddenly entered the Lord's Kingdom on October 4, 2022, in West Seneca, leaving behind the love of his life Mary Jean Lignos (nee Buchwald) and their two young and beautiful kids, Theo and Ophelia. He passed far too young and was only 37 years old. We are raising funds to support Mary Jean, Theo and Ophelia to cover any unforeseen expenses and provide them with some financial support for the future. Nobody should worry about money when dealing with such a devastating loss. Bill was a devoted husband and father whose whole world revolved around his family. He also made a big impact on the community and had loyal customers at his barber shop. Our hearts and prayers go out to all who knew and loved Bill.

<div>Today my entire family was devastated with the total loss of my parents, siblings (4 of them), and childhood home. They lost everything in the house, including our beloved family pets, 3 dogs, 2 cats, a bunny, and a bird. They are only left with the clothes on their backs. My parents run Yipes, a family operated business, and are the first to reach out and support anyone that needs it. They donate their time, work, and effort to anybody in the community who needs support, and never expecting anything in return. They’ve done countless jobs and fundraisers without hesitation. <div>Hi, my name is Ashley. I'm starting this fundraiser to help my dad lessen some of his stress from the unexpected and recent events.

<div>For 20 years, he's had Atrial Fibrillation (aka afib), which makes your heart beat abnormally and causes you to have arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats). On 6/17/22, he had surgery on his heart called Cardiac Ablation. This procedure scars parts of your heart that help correct arrhythmias in heart-related conditions such as afib. The surgery went well, and he came home that night. The following day, he had stroke-like symptoms, prolonged speech, and trouble concentrating on his words. Luckily, my brother was with him when it happened and could help get him into the car and to the hospital. He was admitted for observation and had an MRI the following day. He had a Transient Ischemic Attack (AKA TIA or a mini-stroke) a few days before his Cardiac Ablation surgery. He never showed any stroke symptoms until days later. Thankfully the MRI told us about his TIA, and we can do what is needed to help him get better. Unfortunately, he won't be able to work as a mechanic for about a month. It's not easy to focus on yourself and get better when your mind is on how things will be paid and taken care of when you can't work for the money yourself.

<div>You can take the strength out of the man, but you can't take the man from his strength. There's only so much my brother, stepmother, and I can do along with family to help build his spirits. We are asking for some help to develop his spirits and not think so much about other things while he recovers and gets his strength back better than it ever was.
