<div>Those words only begin to summarize the thoughts, feelings, and questions entering our minds as news of the Kuehl/Witte tragedy has reached each of us. As many know, Steve and his family were vacationing with Charis' side of the family this past week when a fire broke out in their rental home. In God's infinite wisdom, he used this tragedy to bring Charis and their five year-old daughter Stella home to Him in heaven. (Four other members of Charis' extended family were also called to heaven in this tragedy. Her dad, Pastor Steve Witte; sister, Lydia Witte; niece, Lena Henselin; niece, Merci Henselin.) Steve (Kuehl) said that again and again on the phone when we talked. Already, his faith in this is something for each of us to mimic.

<div>While Steve, Norah, Vera, and all of us cling to Jesus' words, <strong><em>"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die,"</em></strong> many challenges and changes sit ahead for Steve and the girls.

<div><strong>They had so many new plans ahead. Steve has just accepted a call to teach at Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School in New Ulm, MN. They had just bought a house in New Ulm. The girls will be attending a new grade school. They still need to pack and move from Powell, OH to New Ulm, MN.</strong> The list of endings and beginnings goes on and on. Now they do this without Charis and Stella.

<div><strong>To help them during this time and with future needs, the Go Fund Me will be split fifty/fifty. Half will go towards immediate needs and family outings. The other half will establish a school fund for Norah and Vera for their LES, high school, and college educations.</strong>

Support Steve, Norah, and Vera Kuehl

<div>I’m starting this fundraiser for my nephew, Jacob Kolb, and his family.  He is the son of Eric and Liz Kolb who live in Holmen. Jacob was a 1st grader last year at St. Paul’s in Onalaska.  This past Friday (June 24th) Jacob was involved in an accident at his home where he was hit by an ATV. He was rushed to Gundersen Hospital in Lacrosse and required emergency brain surgery. Afterwards, he was airlifted to Rochester’s PICU unit.  On Saturday (June 25th) he had another surgery to relieve pressure in his brain, and that night they successfully got him into a coma so that the brain could heal.  Today, (June 27th) they are going to slowly try to bring him out of that coma.  Jacob is a baptized child of God and is well taken care of spiritually because of all his Savior Jesus has done for him.  But he desperately needs prayers for physical healing. So please take time to pray for him and his family.

Jacob's Journey

Many of you know of my friend Xingwei (oryou may know him as Gideon). He has been trying to return to China since the end of May, but COVID has made this difficult. If any of you are able to, your help through prayer, financial help or sharing his story is appreciated. Here is his story.<br /><br />Dear friends, <br /><br />My name is Xingwei. I am an international student at Martin Luther College and am a friend of Friends of China (FOC). I also taught at Rising Eagles School - the Lutheran elementary school - in Beijing from 2015 to 2019. I came to the United States in December of 2019 to finish my final capstone project for my master’s program in education. I completed my internship at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in New Ulm during the spring semester of 2020 and graduated from MLC in May with a Masters of Science in Education. Continuing my religious education, I am currently taking classes from MLC for ministry certification. <br /><br />Originally, I was supposed to go back to China over the summer, but because of COVID, my flight was cancelled six times. After finally securing a flight, I had to cancel my flight just 6 hours before its departure because of a new restriction requiring an IgM-antibody test. There are not locations nearby that could perform the test so we were not able to find a place to do this last minute. <br /><br />Starting from 00:00, January 7, 2021 Pacific Standard Time, the Chinese Embassy will only accept the nucleic acid ri-PCR and IgM serum antibody test report from one laboratory, Ayass Bioscience, which is located in Dallas. However, the Chinese Embassy once again strongly recommends travelers avoid all nonessential and non-urgent travels to China. The issuance of health code is contingent on multiple factors and is not guaranteed even if test reports are provided by the listed laboratory. <br />Because my student visa already expired and the changing of my visa status is still pending, it seems that going back to China as soon as possible is the best option right now. Based on my situation, I would consider my travel to be urgent and essential. However, the ticket is way more expensive than usual and with the additional COVID-related expenses that I would have, I am not able to afford the cost.

Xingwei's Additional Travel Expenses Due to COVID

A group of amazing women, who have all been touched by loss, have teamed up and are on a mission to create a beautiful memorial that will be dedicated to Infertility, Pregnancy and Infant loss. <br /><br />Following the loss of Cassie, the baby of Dena and Travis, the Iverson's became dedicated to spreading awareness and support for other families who have experienced such loss.  Dena created CC Designs to raise money to support those families.  She has joined with women who all share in loss to create an incredible space for all families who mourn.<br /><br />This Angel Baby Memorial Space will be dedicated to all women who have experienced such loss.  This space will include the hand-carved monument (pictured), 2 benches, paver stones and beautiful landscaping will serve as a peaceful and reflective place for anyone to find comfort and reflect on their journey.   We plan to have paver stones available for families to engrave a loved ones name in memory of.  This monument will be created by New Ulm Monument and placed at the New Ulm City Cemetery for anyone to visit.  <br /><br />It pains us to share that 1 in 8 women suffer from infertility, miscarriage or infant loss. Millions of women who have experienced such tragedy are connected in their grief, but we hope to also share in the strength that comes from such loss.<br /><br />Join us as we work together to raise funds for this space.  We do this for the babies we pray for, the babies we've lost, the women who have gone through this before us and the women who will suffer through this in the future.  <br /><br />Our goal is to raise $20,000 by September 2020.<br />This will cover the monument ($11,000), benches ($2,000), paver stones ($2000), landscaping ($4,000) and other plot expenses (up to $1,000).<br />We cannot do this alone and greatly appreciate your monetary support towards this cause.<br /><br />Thank you,<br />Dena Iverson (CC Designs) * Trisha Homan * Paige Hawkins<br />Rachel Lang * Melanie Chalhoub * Samantha Domeier * Ann Vote
