<div> We were able to get the maximum amount that insurance allowed so that was a great thing. They even allowed for the value of the meat that we had and the freezers. It didn’t cover the full amount but we were happy with that. We purchased an enclosed trailer to house our freezers and further our deliveries and mobile setups once we get products back in stock. The GoFundMe and other donations were vital in purchasing the trailer. Currently we are looking at metal buildings to rebuild a new farm shop to better serve our community and offer other products from local small businesses. We will have pork, chicken, and beef back in stock within the next few weeks.

All of these have helped us get through this time better, knowing that we had a supportive community on our side. We are eager to get back to normal and be able to serve our customers like we would like to. <div>The Feast Down East Food Hub is reaching out on behalf of Acorn Acres Farmstead, a family farm located in Mt. Olive owned and operated by Josh and Kim Stroud. Acorn Acres focuses on regenerative practices to provide their community with pasture-raised chicken, pork and turkey, as well as health-boosting value-added products with Elderberry. They also provide outdoor and agriculture-based learning opportunities for both children and adults through field trips and summer camp programs.

<div>In the early morning hours of Tuesday Oct. 7th their farm shop building caught on fire, most likely from an electrical source. Local fire departments responded quickly, but everything in the building was destroyed, despite their efforts. Thankfully everyone- including all of the animals- were left unharmed and safe.

<div>This building contained all of their hard work over the past year and a half since they moved to their new farm . All of their freezers full of products were destroyed, as well as all of their processing and packaging materials that they used for their retail products. This building also contained the majority of their farm tools and maintenance items that they used daily around the farm to keep their operation going.

<div>Plans are already in the works to rebuild and come back better to provide their community with clean, healthy food. They are very thankful for all of the kind words, prayers, offers to help, and support of any kind that they have received since this unfortunate event took place.

<div>Currently, their biggest hurdle is getting another farm shop/ storage building set up and replacing their freezers so that they are able to get inventory back in stock and start earning income as soon as possible.

Help Acorn Acres Farmstead Rebuild After Electrical Fire

<div>   My grandson Jacob Worriax is a 16-year-old who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on 12/31/2021. He is the son of James and Jessica Locklear Worriax. Our goal as grandparents, family, friends and loved ones is to help them pay some of their out-of-pocket expenses.

<div>   He is a 10th grader at Ashley High School in Wilmington, NC who loves to play soccer. He was on his high school soccer team, and wrestles as well. He attends The Sanctuary of Wilmington Church where he is a very active member.  Jacob was admitted to the hospital at Chapel Hill on 12/30/2021 and stayed until 01/08/2022. Jacob travels back and forth from Wilmington to Chapel Hill with his parents at least once a week, and sometimes twice a week. Since Jacob was admitted to the hospital so late into 2021, his parents are faced with paying a 2021 deductible and a 2022 deductible, along with other out of pocket expenses. Our desire is to show them the love of Jesus Christ as they have shown so many others.

Raising Hope For Jacob ♡<br /><br />On August 5th 2015, the Moore family began a life altering journey.<br /><br />Jacob Moore, age 2, son of JD & Kim Moore was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma.  Jacob will be receiving treatments at the Duke Children's Hospital in Durham, NC.  His current protocol of treatment is scheduled to last until mid 2016 (approx July). His treatment plan includes chemo, radiation and stem cell replacement surgery.<br /><br />Jacob and the entire Moore family have a long road ahead of them. This next year of treatment for Jacob is crucial and we ask that you continue to keep the entire Moore family in your prayers, especially sweet Jacob. <br /><br />This site has been formed to help one of our own. Many of us have worked with JD Moore throughout our own careers JD is currently employed at Shearon Harris with Duke Energy. Though he doesn't travel with us anymore, he is still part of our construction family.<br /><br />All donations will go directly to the Moore family to help with whatever needs they may have throughout the duration of Jacobs treatments.  With majority of us traveling to make a living it was brought to our attention that having this site would be easiest for us all to come together.<br /><br />It is our hope to ease some of the stress the Moore family will be under and continue this site throughout Jacobs journey. Raise Hope For Jacob ♡

Hi, my name is Jodie and I am trying to raise money for a pair of technologically advanced glasses that will enable my daughter, Jordan, to see things that she has never been able to see before.  Jordan is seven years old and has been legally blind since birth, with nothing but light perception in her left eye and only minimal vision (20/400) in her right, with glasses on.  She can only see things that are a few feet in front of her and can only see details  if they are inches in front of her.  <br /><br />We have been waiting and praying for the  day when there would be something out there to help her.  Then one day, it seemed like our prayers were being answered.  We came across a video online from "The Doctors" show about how E-Sight glasses were helping people who were severely visually impaired see.  We could not believe there could be such an amazing thing... until we were fortunate enough to have my daughter try them for herself. <br /><br />E-Sight Eyewear is a Canadian company and they came to Charlotte, NC, of all places, for demonstrations.  My daughter called it "the best day ever".  With the help of these glasses, she was able to see things that we never thought were possible.  This included a stop sign that was over 100 feet away, our facial expressions at 20 feet away and flower petals instead of a colorful blob. She even saw a cartoon show through the glasses when they were plugged into the computer.  <br /><br />We are so very excited about these glasses and hope that we can raise $16,000 to purchase them.   These glasses will be so advantageous to my daughters learning and her ability to see the world like most of us do.  We are hoping to raise the money as quickly as possible.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Please check out our video to get to know us a litte better.<br /><br />God Bless You<br /><br />"the Lord gives sight to the blind,<br /> the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,<br />     the Lord loves the righteous."<br /> Psalms 146:8
