<div>A dear friend to so many, Nicole Ditrolio Standley, left this world on October 2, 2024. “Nic” was a formidable creative force who carved a beautiful path forward into areas uncharted. From her JetSetFamily brand adventures to her work with Oprah, The O Magazine, Nicole was amongst the most talented and committed to her work. In all her endeavors, Nic was true to her unique voice, a rare trait in today’s modern world. Nicole worked tirelessly as the VP of the Troy Swim team and loved her time working with the kids.

<div>She found so much joy in making sure they had a memorable experience. She loved children and she wanted to see them all succeed in every level.

<div>She spoke fluent rock n roll the way a Parisian speaks French. She had both the charisma of a celebrity and the depth of compassion of the humblest of souls. Under her tenacity to create a world she wanted for her daughter, Nic resonated kindness. With a dark sense of humor, an infectious laugh, a signature cackle, and a deep faith in things unseen, she illuminated joy into our lives.

<div>Part of what made her so unique was her interest in others. She wanted to know the details, all of them, and she cared so authentically about those in the world around her. An advocate for the underdog, Nicole championed what was right and offered her generosity of time to those she loved. She was a tried and true, loyal friend to so many, dedicating so much time in making other peoples lives better, always celebrating other people’s successes.

<div>Her story was always <em>go big or go home</em> and she was always aimed in the direction of new adventures - how fortunate we were to be along for the scenic ride. With content as unique as she was, Nic offered us a glimpse into her world - a unique West Coast menagerie of mosh pits, grace, pearls, Doc Martins, family, and redemption.

<div>Dear, friends, fellow Dairy Goat breeders, farm supporters, our community and beyond! The unthinkable has happened to Drake Family Farms, located in Ontario, California. On Monday Night, 4/15/2024 their fence was cut by the perpetrator and 12 of the farms beloved Dairy goats were stolen. The breeds stolen were Saanens, Alpines &amp; Nubians. Their collars are chain, red or blue. Please see the pictures for their tattoo numbers &amp; breeds of the stolen goats

<div>- 1 goat that had given birth 1-2 hours before they stole her &amp; left her 2 babies cold &amp; hungry. (They have been bottle feeding them and they are doing well)

<div>-1 goat that had delivered in the past 24 hours that had toxemia (Dr Dan Drake, the owner &amp; veternarian was currently treating her) she needed her Dextrose that morning &amp; they fear that she is probably dead now

<div>The perpetrator stayed out of view, of the farm's security cameras. As well as avoided cameras at local major, intersections. A detective from the local police department, has been assigned to the case and is working closely with the Drake family to bring home their beloved dairy goats. A tip line has also been set up. Several media outlets have been amazing in getting the communities attention as well as broadcasting the story nationwide, in hopes that they will get some leads on the whereabouts of the dairy goats. The farm has offered a $3500 reward for anyone that can find their goats &amp; leads to the conviction of these horrible people.

<div>The Drake Family Farm is one of our local beloved family run and owned artesian, cheese farms. They have a large herd of just over 500 hundred registered, beautiful and loved Dairy goats. Each one has a given name. They have been a family-owned business since the 1800’s, between their California and Utah Farms. We are so disheartened by this act of theft and cruelty.

<div>This GoFundMe is being set up by SCDGA (Southern California Dairy Goat Association) and the local dairy goat community to help support Drake Family Farms. The funds will be used to increase the current reward up to $5000 or possibly more. If no reward is given, the money raised will be allocated towards helping the farm recoup the losses the farm has faced from the stolen animals, modestly valued at $12,000. It will also be used for future expenses and losses due to the theft. Any additional funds raised will be put towards enhancing the current security system, as well as future fencing and housing for their dairy goat herd. Any amount is appreciated. <div>Hello, I am Julie King, a business partner and long-time friend of James Wanless. With great sadness, I report that James was randomly assaulted on the street outside his apartment in Los Angeles on Aug 13, 2022. He has severe head trauma, which caused some bleeding on the brain and two cracked vertebrae in his neck. On Aug 15, James had successful neck surgery and is still on a ventilator. He is battling pneumonia and has started to respond with his eyes. The doctors say he has a long recovery ahead of him.

<div>It will be some time before James can work; hence the need to raise funds for his living and medical expenses. As you know, his zest for life is profound! He has been excited about his work in Japan, new courses, art projects, and the Sustain/Nature deck publication in spring 2023. James Wanless Recovery  and Life with Traumatic Brain Injury

When a family who has done so much for our community finds themselves in a time of need, the community rises to the occasion and supports them with the same love and support they have so generously shared with all of us. It is with unfortunate news that I share that on the early morning of Saturday, March 21, Shelley, Butch, and Devereaux lost their home to a devastating house fire. The family is ok and in strong spirits given the circumstances. It is with great sadness though that they find themselves without any personal belongings at a scary time when families are asked to be sheltered in place. <br /><br />With this situation having presented itself, we are asking the Tustin Community Preschool family, The Indian Princess program tribe mates, the Girl Scout Troop friends, and all of the many supportive community neighbors and friends to reach out and surround this family with love and support in their time of need.<br /><br />If you are local and can help out in other ways, we are also collecting gift cards and all other donation items on their behalf. Christina Mauser was a passenger on that fateful flight. She leaves behind her husband Matt and their 3 children-2 elementary school aged and 1 toddler. She was a loving mother and wife, the girl’s basketball coach at Harbor Day School, and worked with Kobe for the Mamba's. </span>

<p><br />Matt was previously a teacher and coach at Harbor Day, educating our children with his enjoyable classes and friendly teaching style. He started a band- Tijuana Dogs over 20 years ago and is currently an entertainer/songwriter.<br /><br />Their 2 oldest children have played water polo for CMAC-Costa Mesa Aquatics Club, over the last few years.  <br /><br />We are here to support them in these tough times. Matt is faced with raising 3 children on his own. <span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">All,</span><br /><br /> <br /><br />As many of you have read by now, a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020 in Calabasas, CA has claimed the lives of nine people. John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli were among the nine victims. Most devastating to our Red Sox family, John, Keri, and Alyssa were the father, stepmother and younger sister of one of our scouts, J.J. Altobelli.<br /><br /> <br /><br />As J.J. and his sister Lexi cope with the immense sadness stemming from this accident, we want to rally to raise money for them. Ensuring that J.J. and Lexi don’t have to worry about financial insecurity moving forward is the least we can do.<br /><br /> <br /><br />While the Red Sox and its Foundation will be providing financial and emotional support, we understand that opening this up to the public can provide the Altobelli Family with the most security moving forward. These funds will help J.J. and Lexi as they are faced with funeral costs, Lexi’s future education, as well as other general living costs. This is written by Tem's wife, Kate. <br /><br />As some of you know, Tem Tarriktar has thyroid cancer with metastases. We didn’t notice anything until last summer, but apparently the tumor is aggressive and has already gone into some bones. The thyroid oncologist he’s seeing says Tem is very ill and that we need to be aggressive in his treatment. He believes the cancer is being fueled by a rare genetic fusion and is hopeful that a genetically targeted medication he has researched, if it works as expected, could shrink the main tumor, as well as the metastases, from 50 to 75% relatively quickly. This doctor has ordered it and we’re waiting to see if Blue Shield will cover it, as it’s very expensive (about $20K a month). <br /><br /><br />Unfortunately, the drug is not a cure, and the cancer will likely eventually outsmart the drug effects. The oncologist has no idea when that can happen, but we’ve been hearing about people who have lived three years on this drug. The oncologist thinks there are a few other drugs that might be used if the main ones stop working. So, we are trying to find ways to strengthen Tem while he takes this drug and experiences its side effects, which should not be as severe as typical chemo drugs, especially since we have a team of alternative health care people (not covered by insurance) that will help Tem weather the storm.<br /><br /><br />Meanwhile, Tem is suffering with constant mucous formation in his throat from the irritation of the main tumor. It keeps him from sleeping and breathing easily. He may get about four hours a night, with drugs to help him get beyond the distress of the mucous. This process has become more difficult since the emergency intubation and tracheostomy he underwent two weeks ago, because his breathing tube was being pressed on by the growth of the tumor.<br /><br />Tem has had seven surgeries and procedures in the last eight months, including thyroid surgery that  had a limited benefit — the tumor had infiltrated structures in his throat; a procedure to prop up the vocal cord that had already been paralyzed by the tumor; a gastric tube placed in his stomach because he couldn’t eat enough without aspirating into his lungs; and an emergency tracheostomy (which may be reversible if the drug can shrink the tumor). His quality of life, as you can imagine, is very poor. He is underweight and very weak.<br /><br /><br />Our business, The Mountain Astrologer Magazine, is being run by our small group of employees, with a little help from Tem when he’s able. The employees have been amazing in their ability to adapt to Tem’s situation. At this point, the magazine is going to press on time, and the high quality of the publication has been maintained. Tem started this magazine 30 years ago from a little rag costing 50 cents, and it is now an international publication.<br /><br /><br />So far, we’re working to find Tem some skilled nursing assistance and a Transitions group that can oversee symptom management. If insurance doesn’t approve, this will be an added expense. If the drug is not approved and the manufacturer turns us down, we would need to finance the drug ourselves at $20K per month. We’re hoping for the best, and that it will happen soon. Time is of the essence. We must also hire in-home help, since I cannot take care of Tem's needs by myself. An out-of-town friend has been here for a month, and without him, I would have been floundering, as I have my own health issues that take time to address each day.<br /><br /><br />Tem has been a warrior for the last few years, tenaciously caring for me when I was close to death. He tirelessly researched treatments and encouraged me to forge ahead and try new approaches. And all this was done while continuing to maintain the magazine, and care for himself and our home. Many people came forward to support me both financially and donating their time, and we will always be grateful for everyone who helped us. It is now Tem’s turn to need your help. He is a kind, deep, intelligent, even-tempered, and vital man, and he is open emotionally and spiritually. <br /> <br /><br /><br /> <br />We’re having a weekly virtual healing circle on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. PDT, with a focus on this drug being available and actually helping to improve Tem's condition.
