<div>Hi. My name is Misha. I am raising funds for my best friend Debbie Moebs. Debbie has Stage 4 cancer. Debbie has shared with you all the details of her cancer so I won’t go into it all here. A lot has happened in her path to addressing her illness in such a short time. I will be honest, this is the last thing I thought I would would be doing this Thanksgiving. About 7 months ago we found out she has cancer. It changed her life, the life of her fantastic fiancé Mike and everyone who loves Debbie. She did all the right things to take care of herself through this illness with the support of so many. But there is more treatments to come as she moves to palliative care.

<div>I knew she was strong, but the courage she has displayed and continues to display during her treatment has been remarkable. While cancer takes a toll on you body, it has not diminished her spirit, her attitude and her outlook on life. As she navigates her future, there are financial issues to deal with like medical expenses, medical devices, medications and end of life plans. It weighs heavy on her mind as she hasn’t been able to work since her diagnosis.

<div>Throughout her illness, Like many of you, I have been frustrated not knowing what I can do to help. I know the friendship and support we have all shared with Debbie and Mike has helped in immeasurable ways, but current and future financial burdens are mounting. This is peace of mind for Debbie.

If you can help me ease her mind and pave the way for a peaceful journey through this next part of her life, it would be appreciated.

Debbie’s Stage 4 Cancer Fundraiser

The CAAAN group is sponsoring a charitable initiative to help the homeless community with essential items this holiday season.  We have chosen to partner with the Detroit Rescue Mission to assist in these efforts.  The Detroit Rescue Mission (DRMM) is an emergency shelter that has been servicing Detroit and its surrounding metropolitan communities for over 100 years.  We want to put together care packages to help this community’s population with essential toiletries and things. This is where your help/giving efforts are needed. <br /><br />A typical care package can include items like hats, gloves, thermal socks, hygiene items, etc. Ultimately, a package like this will range between $20-25, so please take that into consideration when making your donation. The last day donations will be accepted is Friday, November 20.<br /><br />Our goal is to help at least 300 people this season.  Carat will be making a substantial donation to get us started, but we are asking for your help to ultimately hit our goal.  Please see link below for our Go Fund Me account to give your donations.  Our CAAAN Team will then do the shopping, assembly, and deliver the Care packages to DRMM.

Care Packages for the Homeless

<strong>Licks 4 Liam!</strong> Because he is getting a Service Dog!<br />Liam's journey has been brave, daunting, complex and overwhelming. We have exhausted so many emotional and medical resources, attempting to provide the very best quality of life for Liam. His autism spectrum disorder, early onset bipolar disorder, frontal lobe deficits and a seizure disorder have simultaneously tried to kick his butt. He has  collectively spent well over <strong>30 weeks</strong> in the <strong>hospital</strong> in the past 6 years, but he is a<strong> fighter</strong>! <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/29464224_15248471440_r.jpeg" alt="29464224_15248471440_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> He defies the odds over and over, leaving us no option but to up the ante and continue searching for solutions to a challenge we won't let win! Liam often needs 24 hour support and his disorders have left him horribly anxious and scared. He hates to be alone and even showering can be daunting. Simple things like going to the store or falling asleep at night is challenging, BUT there is a new solution!!! <strong>Liam is getting a Service Dog</strong> to help support his deficits and empower him to lead a more functional life! However we need help!<br />I am not great at asking for help, but I guess loving my child has pushed me out of my comfort zone!  Liam has always found comfort in animals; in particular his guinea pig, Jedi and our cat, Phineas. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/29464224_15248472390_r.jpeg" alt="29464224_15248472390_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />So when desperately searching for solutions after Liam's terrifying, most recent hospitalization, I vowed to think outside the box! I can't put into words what it's like to contemplate the concept of losing your child. The desperation and complete &amp; utter despair have changed something inside me that I know will never be the same. I am a different version of myself and a very wise woman told me that I am "settling into the yuck". I believe her experience and wisdom is correct but this yuck is what is propelling the fighter inside me; because Liam continues to fight, so must we!<img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/29464224_15248472890_r.jpeg" alt="29464224_15248472890_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />We are working with a fantastic team, <strong>Lori &amp; Jack Grigg</strong>, owners of <strong>Paradise Dog Training</strong>, who can specifically train a Service Dog to accommodate Liam's high level of diverse needs. This amazing service dog will function as both an <strong>Autism Service Dog and a Psychiatric Service Dog, while simultaneously lending support during Liam's potential seizures</strong>. As I'm sure you can imagine, this type of complex service dog is very expensive to obtain! Liam is over the moon about this new angel companion being trained and we begin the process in early May. It is a long endeavor; taking at least a year. However, we are realistic in knowing Liam's struggles aren't short term, so this is a long term solution! Please help us raise monies and awareness! They have been committed to Cleo, and our family, over the last 9 months, helping her become super-pup extraordinaire!  On April 3rd they successfully passed the Therapy Dog International Certification! This could have never happened if it weren't for the dedication of Lauri and Bill! Licks 4 Liam- Service Dogs Help!

In the early morning hours one our best friends and college roommate along with her family had a devastating house fire. Thankfully the family was able to get out but they have lost everyting. I am asking that if you can to please donate to provide them with some emergency funds to just get by. They have no belongings and need our help.
