Both Mr. Mbanefo and his 18 year old son, Matthan, are currently in the hospital. Mr. Mbanefo underwent surgery for a fractured leg when he tried to jump out of the window. Matthan suffered severe second degree burns on his back and legs. Matthan is a Freshman in college and a beloved community member. He was the president of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) in high school and is a scholar of The GodSquad’s Flatbush Leadership Academy.

<div>Matthan is a stellar example of what it means to be his “Brother’s Keeper”. Although he lost everything - including his adored sneaker collection - he is grateful to be alive. Mrs. Mbanefo was at work at the time of the fire outbreak and her other two sons were in school. The Red Cross provided a three-day hotel accommodation for the boys and their mother, which was later extended to 1 week.

<div>The family is now homeless and needs immediate support. The Mbanefo Family are members of Hosanna City of Refuge Church, located in Rosedale Queens. They have contributed financially and physically to various community outreach programs held by the church, such as feeding the homeless, veteran assistance, and more. Now, they are in need. So far, The Hosanna City of Refuge Church raised funds to buy immediate items like food, clothes, transportation, etc.

<div>My son Kade Ashton Tyler Lewin, is an intelligent and loving boy who lost his life due to senseless gun violence just weeks short of his 13th birthday. On Thursday March 31st, I found my son gunned down in East Flatbush at the corner of East 56th Street and Linden BLVD. My grand-daughter and my niece were also in the car. My 20 year old niece Jenna, is still in the hospital and my 8 year old grand-daughter Kylie Thompson, though alive by God's mercy, will have to deal with a lot of trauma. Kylie will need extensive support to deal with the trauma she is experiencing.

<div>I'm Pastor Gil Monrose, native of the US Virgin Islands and senior pastor of the Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day and founder of this Hurricane Relief Fund. Since Hurricane Irma and Maria devastated our islands in 2017, I've started raising funds to help rebuild a stronger USVI. We supported the Virgin Islands Clergy Peace Coalition, Community Action Now, Bahamas, St. Martin and Dominica Medical Missions - to assist with distributing hurricane relief supplies and other support.
