<div>For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Julian Zeff. I, along with his partner, Linh and some friends are putting together this GoFundMe for our longtime friend, Jim Miner. We’ve been friends for nearly 20 years. Jim is a great tattoo artist and an incredible musician. He was a mentor to me when I was a young tattooer navigating my own tattoo journey. He taught me how to make ink, helped me with my drawings, showed me the importance of having good references by encouraging me to have a strong library of books, and gave me priceless information that was very difficult to come by in those days. He's so selfless with all his knowledge of art and tattoo culture. And he never hesitates to show unconditional encouragement and support for the people he loves.

<div>In Dec 2025, Jim was admitted to the emergency room with a life-threatening condition and was suffering from severe abdominal pain that required emergency intervention and has been diagnosed with a life altering condition.

<div>Unfortunately, as a result of this, it has left him unable to work for an undetermined amount of time and he is in immediate need of support from the community he’s helped shape through music, art, tattooing,  and friendship. Jim is one of the most unwaveringly loyal humans to so many of us and I can never repay him for all that he has done for me, which is why I’m asking everyone for help and support. In this uncertain time, we're raising money to support current and future medical bills and to ease any financial burden while Jim continues to focus on his health journey.

<div>It’s been a long time since my last update. Honestly, there hasn’t been much to say since first finding a lump—treatment was ongoing, and I was just trying to get through it day by day. I waited to share again because I wanted there to be good news. Unfortunately there just hasn't been much.

<div>Thanks to everyone who helped me last year—you made a huge difference, and I’m so grateful for your support. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn, and my health has gotten worse. I’m facing some very serious challenges. I’ve lost my home, and the costs of treatment and medication have become overwhelming.

<div>I hate having to ask again, but right now I truly cannot handle this alone. Any support— even if it's simply sharing this page—makes a real difference and means more than I can put into words.

Support Sean McCann's Battle with ALS

<div>Hello, my name is Conrad Loebl and I’m asking for your help today to help my best friend and mother, Primrose, from displacement, who is also currently battling Stage 3 Lung Cancer. She has now been displaced by the fires in Lahaina, as the family who owns the space she is residing, needs to move in after losing their home to the fires. My mother moved back to Maui 8 years ago to finish out her days back home where she, as well as my brothers and I, were born and raised. The money we raise will help with moving costs, as well as securing a residency for a time so she can focus on her health. As you can imagine, space is very limited on the island as thousands of people have lost their homes, and rent is not cheap. My mother had a previously unique situation that allowed for her stay where shes been since moving in from Portland. My mother and many family members have endured a large amount of stress, grief and trauma, and this would help alleviate some of the stress my mother already has to deal with battling for her health. <div>Hi there, I’m Danie, Andrew’s wife and partner, and I’m fundraising on his behalf. (And since he is Andy to me, I’ll probably just default to that, but I think he prefers Andrew. Sorry boo.)

<div>Um, okay. So. I’ve had insomnia since this situation ramped up on Monday so please bear with me as my brain is a bit bonky. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The gist of it—which you may already know as I posted quite candidly about it already—is that Andy (of Broken Press, our screen print studio, and SFI Records, his small press record label), my dear sweet Andy, beloved Andy, Andy of my whole life and whole fucking heart has to have emergency surgery next Wednesday July 26th to replace his aortic-valve. What will be done is something called the Ross procedure, where they slice him open and steal his own pulmonary artery and put that in the aortic position and then replace his then-absent pulmonary artery with tissue from a cadaver. It is maximally invasive surgery that is far riskier than a standard mechanical valve replacement, but his surgeon—Dr. Burke at UW Medical Center—is seriously one of the best in the nation so we are grateful for that.

<div>Anyway, the prospect of open heart surgery is beyond fucking stressful and while we have known about it, have had it looming on our horizon for some time, its immediate necessity snuck up on us after the results of a follow-up echo that came back worse than expected. The test was last Thursday and the news that the surgery was reclassified as an emergency was delivered the day after Andy’s 40th birthday. We had originally scheduled the procedure for September 21 so this is a radical pivot for us. Which is to say, big lessons in powerlessness, in surrender, etc. I’ll say, man is it wild to see how much control we tried to exert over the situation. Tried to fit it in our own timelines, according to our own financial and emotional needs, and uh, as it turns out life has other plans.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are currently still finishing up jobs but after Monday we will be closed for about three months. Maybe two, but most likely three as Andy will not be able to push/pull/lift/hold/carry anything over 5lbs, and damn if our job isn’t just a bunch of pushing, pulling, lifting, holding, carrying, etc. Since we work for ourselves there is no medical leave, no PTO, none of the usual support systems, which means we are looking at no income until he is healed as Andy is the main man on the press. Another byproduct of being self-employed is that we are heathcare novices. Luckily he bought an insurance plan on the marketplace after the first scary zoomcare appointment but it is apparently not great. So, in addition to the seriousness of the health situation and the upcoming lack of income there will also be an-as-of-yet-unknown amount of medical debt to grapple with as well. 
</div>

</div>
<div>This has been, um, heavy to say the least. Dealing with the entwined existential crises of Andy’s potential death and the terrifying necessity of blowing up our only stream of income in order to save his life has been the vibe of the past 9 months. If that sounds freaky and absurd, absolutely fucking surreal to you, yes. Yes it is. Unfortunately that is reality of the situation though. 
</div>

</div>
<div>To the outward eye it seems like he is normal and that’s great. The human body is miraculous and can adapt itself to all kinds of situations, make almost anything work, but also, at present he is trapped in a vicious loop. He works a lot. Like 12 hours a day, every day, every week. Nights, weekends, holidays, birthdays. Nothing is sacred. And he’s worked this much essentially every year for the past 15. The truth of it is that we kind of have no life, no friends, just each other and our cats and work. Which maybe sounds a little sad when you write it out like that, lol, but I don’t know. It’s just kind of what life is, what’s been necessary to build the business into the steady, reliable thing it is. Also though, both of our tendencies toward people-pleasing and insane-person standards and being control freaks in general (about similar but different things) have meant that often, in so many ways, more work than is physically possible has been loaded on his plate. One tiny error will appear in a job that may not be visible to anyone but us but we’ll be so insistent on maintaining our standards that we will trash the job, start over, cram more work into less time to meet our myriad overlapping deadlines. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You might know or might not but screen-printing is incredibly labor-intensive work. Physically and mentally demanding work, active and exhausting. I have to assume that people don’t always know what all goes into receiving a finished job that looks like their file, but it’s not a computer printer zipping something off. So, while the success we’ve had in this industry is 100% attributable to Andy’s insane work-ethic, the ceaseless pace of work has also undoubtedly contributed to his heart condition. That said, it also appears that his constant activity has kept him alive in some ways too, because apparently the physicality of his everyday life is what has been pumping his blood all this time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Which, yes, I realize I haven’t even said that he was born with a bicuspid valve and apparently sometime along the way something happened such that now, with every attempted heartbeat, 50% of the blood splashes back and does not make it out of the heart (or maybe now 60% of every heartbeat splashes back as per the new echo). In other words, he runs on half-blood power, half the amount of oxygen needed to keep a person alive, but somehow he’s relatively normal despite this. A miracle man. A freak in the best of ways. I’ll take it, right? Life can be beautiful and mysterious and wow wow wow, thank you for that. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And while I love the miracle that is his apparent symptomlessness, it also might be a plain and practical thing, which is that is that his body has adapted to the circumstances given to it, adapted to his lifestyle. The body knows there’s no rest and works around it. The lungs pump the blood, the diaphragm pumps the blood, the movement of the limbs pump the blood. Being up and at’em and in motion all day has been pumping his blood, and all that has been keeping him alive. But the short term success of keeping him alive has caused his heart to increase in size. While the other systems are helping, the heart still tries, is what I gather. Apparently we are at a tipping point. To compensate for the inefficiencies of each unsuccessful heartbeat it’s grown considerably. Without immediate intervention what comes next is that it will become too weak to pump the blood, which means heart failure. Death. Hence the necessity for surgery now.
</div>

<div>This truth has been hard to reconcile because it just didn’t seem real (it still doesn’t) and because it didn’t/doesn’t match our experiential reality, which, like I said, has been of an everyday Andy with the seemingly same vim and vigor as always. Apparently most people whose internal workings are as whack as his find themselves fatigued, prone to fainting, are easily winded, can’t walk upstairs or around the block without running out of breath, etc. He doesn’t have any of those problems, which…has blunted the gravity of the situation somewhat. For better or worse. Yes, we have cried and gnashed our teeth about this—notably right after doctor’s appointments—but then we go right back to work, tears still drying on our cheeks. We have felt sadness and despair and may have inadvertently imbued some of that into the jobs we printed this year because we were scheduled in a way that there was no time to sit with the grief. 
</div>

<div>But also—and again and again—after the sorrow passed, we would drift into a sort of light-hearted equilibrium. We never forgot what was happening—it has been a weight on our psyches all year—but at times we kind of did. Or we knew but were distant from it, disconnected enough from the raw emotional truth that we joked about it, were really quite glib, blasé in the ways we talked about it, which feels insane as we are now facing it directly and are both scared shitless. 
</div>

</div>
<div>I am writing too much and really need to get to the point here but it is just a lot. I really want to complain about the medical system, about how this was discovered in a routine physical that turned serious really fast, and then how discombobulating it was to receive an urgent referral to see a cardiologist ASAP, see someone within a week because he could drop dead at any moment, and then, you know, try to do that and have it take four months to get an appointment, then several more months to have the necessary tests, etc. There are a lot of et ceteras there, a serious roller coaster of emotions, so much hurrying up to wait. However, despite all of that, I know that these people are going to save Andy’s life. Have saved it already. The people at zoomcare who first caught the distressing symptoms, the cardiologist who expressed a very bleak sense of urgency about the situation (shout out to Dr. Cone), and the surgeons (Dr. Burke and Dr. Aldea) whose expertise will 100% be the reason why he is still in my life for years to come—I have all these people to thank for Andy’s life and I’m beyond grateful for them even if the process these past 9 months has been enough to drive a woman insane.

<div>Anyway. Long story long I guess. I will say, um, I really appreciate the kindness that everyone has shown us or expressed to us since I blurted everything out in the middle of the public square on Monday (on instagram, lol). I am usually a very private person (whether by nature or conditioning) so I don’t know what came over me. I tend to keep my personal cards close to my chest, but it seems that the sudden and acute nature of the news on Monday subverted my normal relational patterns, drove me toward others, prompted me into a bout of otherwise unthinkable honesty and vulnerability. And like, damn if we haven’t been met with more kindness and understanding and support than I ever could have expected, than Andy ever expected. It feels so wild to think about that I’m ugly crying as I type this on the bus. Life is just so terrible and scary but also beautiful and so fucking loving too. If I grew up learning that the world wasn’t a trustworthy place, that you had to shield your true self from others, to obscure what’s really going on from the people around you, I mean fuck man. I’m now learning that the truth of life is the exact opposite of that and I have all of your kindnesses to thank for that lesson.
</div>

<div>Whatever happens, as scared as I am, as we are, I feel like it’s going to be okay. And while I would love it if you donated to the cause of keeping Andy alive, even if you don’t that’s alright too. Your collective kindness and understanding has been so touching, it’s put things into perspective and been like, okay, we can make it through this. Even if we get financially fucked we will survive. 
</div>

<div>That said, your generosity would be appreciated. The way our business works is that our income tracks the touring season, so to be unceremoniously required to shut down—right now—during our busiest time of the year and to be closed right up until the time we generally slow down is a kick in the teeth. Usually we try to take as many jobs as humanly possible during the spring, summer, and autumn months, because come November, December, January, and Feb we are dead and rely on saved summer income to tide us over until touring season begins again. Which is like, yeah. There was a strong current of delusion in us for a while. We thought we could book the surgery in December, work all year to save and have him recoup while we would already be slow. That notion was disabused by his surgeon but the logic behind it is why we had originally scheduled the surgery for September 21. We already had jobs booked through Labor Day and really thought we could do it and that this was the best way to honor commitments to our clients and earn the money we’d need for this situation. But, once again, lol yeah no. Our plans have not worked out. So then it’s like, what? I have no idea but trust that it’s got to be okay. Maybe all of the ways in which Andy has helped other people over the years, printed jobs in a pinch, shared his knowledge, support, kindness, expertise, music, and all of his beautiful fucking work will boomerang back to him and buoy him up now when he needs it most. (Mixed metaphors but you get my drift.)
</div>

<div>I know Andy will be antsy to get back to work and that he has promised people that he’ll be back in the saddle at something like two months. If that’s possible, if that happens that will be wonderful. However, I’m hoping to raise enough that if he needs to take three off he will have the financial buffer necessary to do so. I cannot have him pushing himself into an early grave over this. He’s going to need rest and PT and who knows what else in order to heal, and for the love of god, if I have to hold a metaphorical gun at his head to make him rest I will do it. If he overestimates his strength, his physical capacity, and tries to come back too soon he could risk blowing out his sternum, which would require the bone to be rebroken and reset, which would set us back to square one. For obvious reasons I can’t let that happen.

<div>We love him. I love him but I dunno, I think all who know him love him. He is a beautiful tender-hearted man who offers so much to the world and I just can’t bear the thought of life without him, so any support you can offer as he goes through the scariest portal of his life would be appreciated to the fucking moon and back.

Patt Savage - Find a new home!

<div>As many of you already know I shattered my heel about two weeks ago and just got surgery. I have never been one to do a gofundme when other crap things happen… but this time i can’t put my head down and work extra to get back on my feet.

<div>For those that might not know HeyZeus’s story, he has been in and out of vet care from day one with us. He was a mighty 11 lbs. and so sickly. And through the last 9 years we’ve been able to cover expenses without pause. This will be his fifth major surgery to save his life and we know this isn’t looking good and we are not ready to say goodbye. 
</div>

<div>HeyZeus has had urinary  incontinence since he was born. He’s had one surgery when he was 1 to try to fix his ectopic ureter. However, he’s remained in diapers his entire life as the surgery didn’t solve the full issue. In December 2021, Zeus had a lot of bladder stones removed through an emergency vet (roughly 30+ stones) and he was straining to pee for over 24 hrs. We changed his diet to prescription food, adjusted his habits with table scraps and in six months, stones have reformed. On June 23, we called multiple vets and thankfully found an emergency vet in Seattle that has a team that was able to help. Last night/this morning he went in surgery to remove stones once again and save his life. We thought we’d get to bring Zeus home on June 24, however, more stone(s) remain in his bladder and he is undergoing surgery once again this evening at the same emergency vet.

<div>After tonight’s surgery we are hopeful to bring our sweetest lovable boy home. We will be meeting with internists to see what else we can do to prevent the stone formation and help ease the pain. We also have a biopsy out for his bladder wall and another to understand the increased liquid found in his intestines.

<div>We greatly appreciate any funds you can spare to help our sweet boy. Between Zeus’s surgeries and Luci’s recent cancer removals our funds are running short. We will be forever grateful for your support.

<div>Tammy’s baby boy Richard Rambo is currently at the Emergency Veterinarian where he is being treated for kidney toxicity because of poison that he got into and ingested. His condition is severe, and the ER bill accumulates by the day. As of now, he needs to stay for treatment for at least four days, and each day is about 1500 dollars, not including medication, fluids or bloodwork. At that point, he will still need additional treatment for at least three weeks, including bloodwork daily and possible dialysis. The care and medicines are costly, but Richard is family, as a son to Tammy, and she will do anything for him. As she does not like to ask for help, any amount to help Richard receive the treatments and care to come home will be immensely appreciated.

<p>Our dear friend and beloved Seattle musician, Andrea Zollo, needs our help. On Sunday August 22nd she went to the ER with severe pain in her intestinal area, and early in the morning of the 23rd doctors had to perform an emergency surgery on her. They removed some of her colon and intestines as well as repaired a fistula in her stomach. The surgery was successful in saving her life but there will be months of healing ahead. In the foreseeable future she will not be able to return to running her hairstyling business that she has been building over the years.

<p>Late spring of 2020 Andrea was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and had been working with her doctors to manage the symptoms. This July her symptoms progressed from moderate to severe and she was set to start chemo therapies on the 23rd. Unfortunately, because of the surgery, she will have to wait until she is healed before she can begin the actual treatment.

<p>For years Andrea has graced us with her loving &amp; positive presence as well as her creative musical contributions in the bands Area 51, Death Wish Kids, The Hookers, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death, and Deep Creep. Her husband, Derek Fudesco, played alongside her in many of these bands. Now it's our time to give back to Andrea for years of musical recordings and performances she has given us.

<p>Many of the people reading this will already know the story of Lou Benavides and how wonderful of a friend he is.  He has probably gotten you or your friends into many a show for free, hooked you up with merch, or just made you laugh. You may also know that he almost just died from the Covid 19 virus. Lou unfortunately WAS NOT one of the lucky ones that had very little to no symptoms... Lou was the one that wound up in the hospital, where he was told that if he had waited one day longer to seek medical attention that he would have not made it. Luckily, he did make it, but now begins a more difficult journey.<br /><br />Lou's medical bills are through the roof due to insurance being what it is, he has months of rehab in front of him. His lungs were hit the hardest during Covid and that’s been his primary focus since he’s been released from the hospital. He’s got an oxygen machine at home and a nurse that comes by regularly. While he’s making very good progress with that, he also has a myriad of other health issues that have also arisen because of Covid. Long story short, he has quite the hill to climb to reach full recovery. His breathing is getting stable, his speech is back, and he’s also regaining strength in his body. These are good things, and Lou is confident he can beat this.  But these things come with a price tag.

<p>As you know, medical care is not cheap. And Lou is definitely not rich. He hasn’t worked in over a year, and now with the music industry slowly starting back up, he can’t return to work. So…….THAT'S WHY WE ARE HERE AND THAT'S WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP! We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial burden that he has to take on. For a comparison, a vacation to Hawaii is cheaper than Lou’s eight day hospital stay. <br /><br />It’s a big goal we’re setting, but it reflects the big burden that Lou has before him and I wouldn't have set it that high if it wasn't needed. If Lou has ever hooked you up with a spot on the guest list, a VIP Pass, or just an awesome night out we would love for you to consider a donation for a person that really needs your help. If every person he ever got into a show gave a few dollars then we would hit this goal so fast. Help Lou fight his battle against Covid

<p dir="ltr">After being intubated twice in December, Nargle has had complications and challenges healing her airway. Genetics already gave her a smooshy face and complicated brachycephalic airway, she really didn't need this extra challenge when it comes to breathing. But this is happening and is very real for Nargle. We greatly appreciate and thank if you are able during these unusual times to help Nargle and I through this financial challenge. Any contribution, even those that are 'just the cost of a coffee', help alleviate the stress and burden associated with a procedure like this. 
</p>

<p dir="ltr">Nargle's current state which has led to this choice we have to make is due to the fact that Nargle can't eat without coughing, wretching and at times regurgitating food. Her airway will close at times and cut off the oxygen to the rest of her systems, which causes her to pass out and loose control of her bodily functions. That's a scary event for her humans and we have to keep an eye on her at all times to make sure we are there when she goes hypoxic. To hold her as she panics and make sure she wakes up from her fainting spell. 
</p>

<p dir="ltr">There is never a good time to reach out and ask for help and well, this is probably the worst timing for a critical surgery, especially when we could all honesty use support in some way. With the encouragement of friends we are reaching out to our extended community. 
</p>

<p dir="ltr">With this surgery we are hoping that Nargle will be able to eat without pain or discomfort and be on her way to chasing her feline roomate around again without gasping for air. Her surgical estimate is between $6,500 and $7,800 to correct her pallet, nostrils and possible larnyx tiebacks which will help her to breath without complications. 
</p>

Nargle Needs A Little Help

Hello all! Gay and I are looking to crowd fund a private party to celebrate you all. Our goal is to raise $1,500 which will help to cover the cost of food, drinks and event space. At the moment we are targeting this event for 3/13 or 3/20 (both Fridays) from 5pm-8pm. <br /><br />I have spoken to many of you directly about this idea and many have expressed interest. <strong>This will NOT be an RRD sponsored event.</strong> This will be a personal party that we are hoping that you all can attend.<br /><br />Here is the initial thought/idea: <br />We are looking at a wine venue in Georgetown. For anyone who contributes $20 (or more) we would give you two drink tickets that would be good for two glasses of wine. We would also be providing food/snacks for the party. There will also be an option to purchase additional wine at the party.<br /><br />The space is limited to 75 people, so at the moment, we are looking to open the party to employees (and freelancers), but if we have space, we would also like the option of opening to employees bringing a +1. This event will be 21+.<br /><br />In order to secure the venue, we first need to determine if we can crowd raise the funds or not. If we are not able to reach our $1,500 goal by 2/18/2020 then we will refund all contributions and probably just do a much more informal happy hour. <br /><br />Some of you have mentioned that you either don't drink or don't drink wine. We still ask that if you would like to attend that you please donate $20 (or whatever you are financially able to) so that we can secure event space and purchase food. <br /><br />Again, I want to reiterate that this is in no way an RRD sponsored event. <br /><br />I'm happy to answer any questions or details I might not have covered.

On January 30th, 2019, my cousin Kayla and her husband, Eric, welcomed their little boy, Jaxson Leo Henderson. He was born two weeks early via an emergency c-section due to complications with his birth. Baby Jaxson was born 4 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 in. long. Shortly after his birth, he was rushed to Radys Children’s Hospital due to his low birth weight and inability to regulate his blood sugar. After weeks of testing, he was diagnosed with Congenital Hyperinsulism, however despite receiving treatment, doctors discovered new medical concerns relating to inflammation of his liver and complications with his intestines. Jaxson will undergo surgery this week, however the path forward is still unclear.<br /><br />Kayla, who was still recovering from her c-section, and Eric, followed their son to San Diego and have not left his side since he was born. His father, Eric, will have to return back to work this week after exhausting State Paid Family Leave and Kayla has quit her jobs in order to remain with Jaxson in San Diego. Our family is starting this campaign on behalf of my cousin and her family, in hopes of assisting them financially to get through this very difficult time and allow them to focus on their sweet baby boy. <br /><br />Please consider donating to this sweet baby boy and his loving family.

On March 15, 2018, Jude Pipp Federline was welcomed into the world! Over the following months, the time meant to bond with her new baby, Brittany was in and out of the Emergency room 5 times with horrible nausea and stomach pain, caused by gallstones. <br /><br />She was finally admitted to the hospital and had a procedure called ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) on May 22nd. With this procedure there is a 3-5% risk of developing pancreatitis - she fell into this low percentile and developed necrotizing pancreatitis. So while her pancreas was inflamed it was also dying. <br />Brittany was incredibly sick and immediately put on IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication. She was readmitted to the hospital twice in June due to complications. <br /><br />Towards the end of June she developed two life threatening blood clots in her lungs. That is when she left St Agnes Hospital and was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she began seeing a specialist. She was there for 3 weeks and home for 4 days before she became very sick with another infection on Michael’s Birthday (7/19).  Brittany spent nearly a month admitted at Hopkins to treat 3 infected abbesses that had resulted from the pancreatitis. She had 3 drains placed and at least 8 endoscopic procedures done. She had the feeding tube placed mid July as she had not eaten solid food for a month and could no longer nourish herself. <br />Brittany has lost upwards of nearly 50 pounds. Support for Brittany, Mike, & Jude

Our friend Jody Taylor was suddenly and tragically taken from us yesterday in a workplace accident. <br /><br />We're all grieving in our own way, but for many, one of the first thoughts we had was for his 10 year old daughter Tristen. One only had to scroll for a minute or two through Jody's Facebook or his photo blog to see just how much he loved his daughter, and how strong of a bond they had.<br /><br />Our plan is to raise as much money as we can and then stick it in an RESP or other secure, interest-gathering fund for Tristen to access when she's of age. <br /><br />Jody touched many people, through music, through his work in the Parks Board, and just through being an all-around good guy. The more Tristen benefits from that love, the better. It won't replace what's been taken from her, but maybe it will make things easier in the years to come.
