<div>Hello, family and friends! I am still here! Since June 1st, I have been in a very real fight for my life after being taken to the hospital with what the ER doctor described as having fatally low levels of sodium and hemoglobin which caused damage to my brain. Three blood transfusions, numerous infusions, two code blues, an induced coma, intubation, feeding tube, and two hospitals later, I am making strides toward recovery every day. It's been and will continue to be a long road through medical recovery, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and work with speech pathology. You all know I'm a fighter. However, I need help on this journey. The medical bills alone are insurmountable; as I have obviously not been working, I also need help to cover my regular bills and to help support my three sons, young men just starting their adult lives. <div>Starting ballet at the age of 2 years old, DianaStarr has always shown great promise. Her love for ballet as a young girl grew into an obsession and would only want to be in “serious ballet”. At the age of 6 years old, I enrolled her in Tacoma City Ballet for 1.5 years. She loved it there but wanted to dance more than just once or twice a week. She loved being on stage and showing her skills. She wanted to dance more, so we enrolled her into Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center. She took ballet, West African, liturgical, modern and Pilates. She thrived at Tupac but realized her love was ballet and ballet only.

<div>So, we took a summer off and she said, “ I want to go to Pacific Northwest Ballet”. I was like, “okay, you have to audition, because you will be 8 soon”. So later that summer she auditioned and got in. DianaStarr has been at PNB since 2018 and has thrived and grown so much as a dancer. She has performed in George Balanchine’s, The Nutcracker in 2019 (Angel), 2021 (Clara) and 2022 (Candy Cane). The year Diana was cast as Clara in 2021, she along with another black ballerina, made history, being double cast as the first two black ballerinas in a major ballet company to hold the role at the same time. In 2022, she was cast as a Big Bug, in Midsummer Nights Dream.

<div>DianaStarr was an ambassador for Brown Girls Do Ballet, Blendz Apparel and Bittyrina. She loves to talk about representation in the ballet world. DianaStarr has trained with The School of American Ballet Junior 2022, Cirque Du Soleil 2019, Anthony Burrell Breaking Barriers 2019 and was accepted into American Ballet Theatre in 2023 Junior.

<div>DianaStarr has been accepted into two amazing programs, Alonzo King Lines Ballet in San Francisco and MoBBallet Symposium in Boston. Lines Ballet is a celebrated Contemporary ballet company with world-renowned artists. The junior program is focused on dancers ages 11-14 and teaches them Lines repertoire, philosophy, and supports technical and artistic dancers. The cost for the program for two weeks is $1,100 for tuition, the program does not have housing or food accommodations. The hotel cost for two weeks is $3,986.32 which includes breakfast. Totaling $5,086 for the San Francisco intensive. MoBBallet Symposium is a black-centered ballet intensive by leading black ballet artists at Walnut Hill School located at Boston Ballet. The cost for tuition plus room and board is $1,800. The hotel cost for the week is $1,773.15 which totals around $4,000. For all costs including airfare, transportation, and other miscellaneous costs, we are hoping to raise at least $11,000. Ballet Summer Intensive

<div>Hello my name is Michele Gill and as many of you may know the Chevrier Family is going through a very difficult time.  Sean, their only son, is currently hospitalized and his outcome is uncertain at this time.  Sean plays a critical role in the daily care of his dad.  With Sean in the hospital, his family is needing to spend most of their time with him at his bedside.  This GoFundMe Account is being set up to help offset the additional financial costs that are required in order to allow the family to be as Sean's bedside. <div>On December 14th our Mother Marla German fell and slipped on black ice in the Evergreen State College parking lot, suffering a horrible fall, and breaking her femur. Thank you to everyone who donated to her previous fundraiser while she rwas recovering in a facility. She is currently home rehabbing and needs help covering her medical expenses. Our family is organizing this 2nd fundraiser to help Marla heal at home without worrying about financial burdens. If you can please donate any amount it will also greatly help our family navigate the new challenges we are facing as we adjust to our Mother's new needs.

<p><strong>TRANS PEOPLE ARE SACRED<br /></strong><strong>NATIONAL BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN</strong><br /><br />In recent months, the Transgender community has been faced with numerous calculated attacks from the current administration. Intentionally regressive policy reform has led to increased systematic discrimination against Trans people. This has led to the loss of vital protections in healthcare, housing, homelessness resources, and the cruel and sudden exclusion of Trans people from military service. These are fundamental human rights, all of which are necessary for our survival.<br /><br />The violent murders of Black Trans Women and Trans Women of Color remain at epidemic levels. In 2020 we have already seen too many brilliant individuals taken from this world by force. The public should be a safe place for Trans and gender non-conforming people to exist freely.<br /><br />It is our goal to reclaim public space for the Trans community.<br /><br />Our bodies are holy ground, our magic is potent and true, and our existence makes the world a more loving and equitable place for all. We have always been here and always will be. We demand safety for our community. We demand the right to exist without being targeted. We demand understanding. We will continue to work tirelessly until these demands are met.<br /><br /><strong>Now is the time to bring our light into the world like never before.</strong><br /><br />In July of 2019, Transgender artist and activist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/jonahwelch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jonah Welch</a>  launched a billboard in Detroit, Michigan, in collaboration with <a href="http://www.saveartspace.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Save Art Space</a>  and <a href="http://www.ellenrutt.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ellen Rutt</a> . The billboard proclaimed "Trans People Are Sacred,” a phrase that was first shared with Jonah by <a href="https://www.dakotacamacho.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dakota Camacho</a>  years earlier while they were residents of the Audre Lorde Cooperative in Madison, Wisconsin.<br /><br />The billboard was intended to strengthen representation and inspire hope for Trans individuals in Detroit, but the piece spread like wildfire. The billboard reached a global audience. The words, Trans People Are Sacred, took root, and catalyzed profound healing for individuals and communities the world over. After the success of the initial billboard, Save Art Space reached out to Jonah Welch to create a national-level project for this work. <br /><br /><strong>Now we have the opportunity to spread this message even farther.</strong><br /><br /><br /><strong>WE NEED YOUR HELP</strong><br /><br />It is our goal to place these billboards in one hundred cities across the United States, with a distinct focus on conservative areas in the south and southwest. The billboards will go up between mid-September and mid-October, just weeks before the election, so that our voices can be heard. Because of its inherent accessibility and visibility, it is our belief that public art holds the potential to shift culture. Each $1000 we raise will allow us to place a billboard in another city. The additional $52k will be used to pay 52 Trans &amp; Non-Binary BIPOC artists $1000 each for their work (50 visual artists and two curators). And while our initial goal is $152k, we hope to exceed this amount and cover the country with this beacon of hope. <br /><br />

<p><strong>CALL FOR BIPOC ARTISTS</strong><br /><br />We are dedicating the majority of billboard space to the work of Trans &amp; Non-Binary BIPOC artists. All art must include the phrase "Trans People are Sacred" or a culturally-rooted variation on this phrase specific to the artist. (ex: "Black Trans People are Sacred"). We encourage artists to interpret this phrase through the lens of their ancestral language and culture. Each selected artist will be paid $1000 for their work.<br /><br />The cohort of BIPOC artists will be selected by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/infinitedakota/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dakota Camacho</a>  and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/indigenousvengeance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ryan Young</a> . Trans People Are Sacred - 100 Cities Campaign

This beautiful unicorn is our friend Lynn. At the young age of 34, she is having to make end of life plans, instead of planning for her future. Last October she was diagnosed with stage 4 Melanoma. For years she tried to have her doctor remove a troublesome mole, to no avail. After her diagnosis, she tried whole head radiation, in addition to immunotherapy. Her treatments are no longer slowing the advancement of her cancer and she was disqualified from participating in the clinical trial she was hoping for. <br /><br />She entered in-home hospice last week. She likely only has a few more weeks to enjoy time with her dog Fred and partner Joe. Her biggest fear is being a burden on anyone once she’s gone, mainly due to her inability to cover end of life expenses such as burial costs. <br /><br />Lynn would really like to have a natural burial. There are a number of amazing options that she can choose from that are earth friendly. By raising the money to cover these expenses, I am hoping to alleviate the stress that these final decisions are causing. I want her to know that she will be well taken care of and that her wishes are by no means a burden.<br /><br />She has a huge heart and would do anything, for anyone. Literally giving her jacket to a homeless person and offering a neighbor money to help them pay their rent, even though she didn't have much to spare. Lynn loves nature and always dreamed of having a career that helped people utilize solar energy. She has lived the best life she could, in far too short a time.<br /><br />Despite life throwing her many challenges, she has been an amazingly strong woman. In these final weeks, I hope she can find peace in knowing that others want to help her, as much as she has helped so many other people. <br /><br />We are up against a very short window of time to collect these funds and I think it would be really special if we could provide her peace of mind while she is still aware of her surroundings.
