TWWOA Storm Repairs
Tax deductible
This past September, North Carolina was hit by the devastating storm Hurricane Florence, which wreaked havoc across the state. Unfortunately, many older structures in Western North Carolina suffered due to the immense amount of rain - including our beloved Workshop headquarters. The Writers' Workshop is located at 387 Beaucatcher Rd., Asheville, NC in a century-old farmhouse. Our headquarters suffered extensive damage. The roof lost many shingles and is experiencing significant leakage, from the attic all the way down to our workshop space and office on the ground floor. Unfortunately, the necessary repairs are not covered by our insurance.
We desperately need funds for repairs and renovations so that we may continue our work and hold classes. Since 1985, our award-winning programs - workshops, contests and readings - have helped thousands of adults and children from the tri-state region improve their writing and reading skills.
Thanks to some kind and generous donors we’ve raised $2,300 to date. Also, several kind folks have offered to volunteer their services. But we still need to raise an additional $13,500 to replace the roof ($10,000!) and repair interior damage.
If you can help us in our time of need, we would be so grateful! All contributions are tax-deductible (we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization), and every dollar contributed to our campaign will help fund our storm repairs.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts!
Sincerely, Karen Ackerson, Founder and Executive Director
