Abseil Forth Rail Bridge Challenge

Donation protected
Oh hi!

If you've made it this far you probably already know who I am. Bryan and I moved back to UK  about 18 months ago, settling just north of the border in the beautiful Scottish Borders and we have fallen in love with living here. I'm glad to be able to help with this campaign as the best part about living here is the people.

This campaign is quite personal for me. With multiple instances of heart disease and stroke within my family I'm really happy to have the opportunity to help improve the lives of those dealing with the debilitating circumstances. I like to think my Grandpa would be proud.

Coronary heart disease is one of our biggest killers. Stroke is the main cause of disability in the community. Chest illnesses of various kinds are the biggest single reason people use the health service.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) has a mission to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information and support in the community. See below for more details on how awesome CHSS is.

I'll be participating in the Forth Rail Bridge Abseil Challenge for CHSS on June 12th (for those west of the Atlantic abseiling is rappelling). The Forth Rail Bridge is a cantilever rail bridge across the Firth of Forth just a short distance from Edinburgh. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Built between 1882 - 1890, it stands 361ft tall, I will be abseiling, freefall style (like the SAS! hopefully I get my own theme music...) from 165ft.  Click here for a video of what I'll be doing.

Here's what you'll get for supporting me in this campaign:
Donate between £1 - $5 you'll receive a lovely, warm, fuzzy feeling in the cockles of your heart and my everlasting gratitude*
Donate £5 or more and I'll share a video with you of the experience (I'll be wearing a GoPro)
Donate £15 or more and not only will you get to watch the video but I'll also make you a super cute, needle felted animal of your choice**. Here's a pic of a snail I made recently...he's totally adorable

*gratitude may actually be limited to my lifetime
**if you choose something too complicated you'll receive an Ameoba instead

Thank you so much for reading and for considering donating. You're awesome!

More detail on CHSS:
Every minute of every day 100,000 people in Scotland struggle to breathe as a result of chronic chest illness. CHSS cares about those left isolated, worried and frightened as their condition worsens – as yet, there is no cure.

Every 45 minutes someone in Scotland will have a heart attack. CHSS cares about the survivors who are anxious and frustrated about what lies ahead & those left behind following the 9,000 premature deaths from Heart Disease in Scotland every year.

Every 45 minutes someone in Scotland will have their first stroke. CHSS cares about the recovery of survivors in their upward struggle back to independence and the young people left coping with the loss of a parent to stroke.

And they care about the thousands of people across Scotland who are looking after loved ones with chest, heart and stroke conditions right now.
