WHO: Molly Quinn Ellenbecker, Emily Jaegar, K. Reese Sigman, Gina Dean (chaperone)
WHAT: The 2017 National Thespian Festival
WHEN: June 19-24, 2017
WHERE: Lincoln, Nebraska (don't be jealous)
HOW IT CAME ABOUT:
Several hundreds of students from many different high schools participated in a regional thespian competition at Olympia High School earlier this year. During this competition, all students were judged (adjudicated) as they performed various monologues, solos or duets. These three dedicated students from Tumwater High School were overjoyed and honored to receive the news that they qualified to participate in the upcoming National Thespian Festival - "NATIONALS!"
WHAT IS THE THESPIAN FESTIVAL?
Every summer, thousands of high school Thespians bring their love of all things theatre to the Thespian Festival, a celebration of student achievement in the arts. Organized by the Educational Theatre Association and hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, the Festival is a one-of-a-kind, weeklong immersion experience in singing, dancing, acting, designing, directing, creating, writing, and memory-making. The Thespian Festival features workshops presented by theatre professionals, individual and group performances, programs for technical theatre students, and opportunities to audition for college admission and scholarship. Endless opportunities, adventures, and memories that will last a lifetime are awaiting them at the Thespian Festival.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Molly, Emily and Reese would SO GREATLY appreciate your support! They are working very hard at fundraising now (fundraiser showcases, many car washes, etc), but if you are unable to help by attending these types of fundraiser activities (or even if you want to do it all!) please consider donating now on this site, to these truly amazing young thespian ladies! They feel so blessed to have this opportunity and, as cliche as it sounds, every dollar really does matter!
Your assistance will help fund all travel expenses for our students and chaperone which includes airfare, housing at UNL, three meals a day, and admittance to all the shows, workshops, and evening activities.
