I had a brain tumor. Thanks to all of you, and all of the work I did to fight the insurance company's denial, I can pay for all of it. That's right... ALL OF IT. I even have about $500 left over to pay for my upcoming follow-up appointments.

What a relief! Thank you!!!

I have a brain tumor.

Now it looks like my insurance won't be paying for the surgery I need to remove it. I'll keep fighting, and if they do come through, I'll use the funds to pay for travel and hotel costs, hospital stay, and other expenses.

I don't know how much it will actually be, but I'll be updating you all and I'll be as transparent as possible. Please ask me questions! Right now, I don't even know what questions to ask.

All I know is that I need your help.

You can read my blog posts about it here: www.squinnbloggen.com. I'll be talking more about the problems I'm having with my insurance company there and on my Facebook page:   https://www.facebook.com/squinn.squidandcrow

Hey all! I do have a few more hospital bills trickling in, but we can handle them. I spoke too soon when I said they were all taken care of. I'll keep you all updated via the spreadsheet, as always: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oxgsnzOO50Cz6mrMg8uI5BR9F_8QdlcrxnxGdaQ0W10/edit?usp=sharing

I'm home!

Recovery will be a slow process, but I swear just being home makes it 10x smoother.

Sorry it's been so long since an update...and this one will be short. I had to go back to the ICU (sodium levels were dangerously low). I'm doing okay now, and it looks like they'll try letting me go again tomorrow or the next day. I'll do a better update when I can! <3

Praying for your success, Sara. I find it encouraging that they admit the doctor is approved for some services. The letter states that they were turning down payment for office visits. It might turn out he's approved for surgeries but not for office visits. If you can find out which codes he's approved for (hopefully surgery), you can use that as an appeal for why they should go ahead and cover the office visits too. That "If you think a coding error may have caused this claim to be denied" line at the very bottom could be your foot in the door.

Thanks so much for the video update, it's so wonderful to see you sitting up, and knowing that the tumor is out. And please don't worry anymore about updates (although it certainly is lovely to find out how you are) - your job is to relax and sleep and get better - and hopefully lots of binge TV also! There's so much good TV out there right now, take advantage of your time to watch it!

Well that's a great start, well done getting so far! I'm sure you have lots of expenses to deal with even with the insurance, so fingers crossed that the surgery will be covered. Thanks so much for the update.

My heart is full of joy at the latest news! I know the struggle isn't over yet, but at least this burden has been lifted. I'll keep praying for you, and I'm looking forward to seeing you and Brendan again next year.

Hooray! I'm sure that Dr. Ferreira will declare the procedure medically-necessary and it's definitely LEAT (least-expensive available treatment) given what you've shared thus far. Congrats!
