Tuition & Education Support for Aidrik

Sometimes it’s those we love who set the most devastating bombs in our lives, disrupting everything we know and creating chaos where there was once order.
Since my husband was incarcerated a little less than a year ago, my 12-year-old son, Aidrik, and I have been in survival mode. The loss we feel is profound. We lost not just someone we loved in an unfathomable betrayal of trust, but, practically, we also lost our primary income.
I’ve cashed out retirement and sold all our available assets. I’m grateful for a job that was able to promote me and offer me a full-time position immediately. They’ve also offered support in a million tiny ways that have been crucial to our ability to move forward — even when it feels like it’s just one tiny step at a time.
But the hardest part for me has been watching my son try to process the trauma of losing his dad and it’s felt, at times, completely overwhelming. His school, Bethel Christian School, has been a sanctuary and refuge for him. It’s a small-classroom setting where he gets one-one-one counseling every week and is able to benefit from after-school activities. BCS provides stability and security when our world feels just the opposite. It’s an integral part of our lives.
The school has offered us the maximum scholarship — but it is still more than I can afford as a newly single mom — so I’m asking for help.
Keeping him at BCS is a priority for me. I’ve set the goal for this GoFundMe at $5,000 to cover tuition, incidentals, extracurricular activities and general education support for Aidrik.
“Aidrik is an exceptional kid and we love having him at BCS,” says Principal Don Mayer. “He’s been able to thrive here because he knows he has the support of every faculty and staff member. We love him unconditionally and want him to feel safe.”
Aidrik and I are incredibly grateful for any support received. Anything above and beyond will go toward our fixed living expenses as we navigate this unforeseen chapter.
