Hello Everyone! We are Eduardo Hernández, Francisco Borger, Jeinny Pérez, Luis Vásquez, María Días and Simón Rincón, and we are the team that, for the second time in history, will represent Venezuela in the 10th International Physicist's Tournament [3] between April 1 to April 8 of 2018 in Moscow, Russia. We study at Simón Bolívar University, Caracas and we need your help to travel to Moscow and stand out for our university, the scientific community, and
more important, our nation.
As a preparation for the tournament, we must solve 17 open problems in physics from all the approaches that we can: theoretical, experimental and/or computational. These problems will be discussed and debated with the other teams in Moscow, Russia, and the results will be evaluated by a jury formed by professors and researchers from diferent places of the world. The team had to pass a preselection process in order to classify to the tournament, which consisted on submitting a report about one of the problems we have been studying, and we are glad to announce that we classified! By second time, Venezuela has the opportunity of participating in this international tournament, together with the other seventeen teams that also classified.
During our formation, we've done everything that is within our reach to get the most out of our professors and courses, and this tournament will be the perfect challenge to demonstrate our aptitudes before the international scientific community for the first time, and we are really excited about it, working untiringly to make it possible, but now, more than ever, we need your help to achieve this dream. To formalize our participation, we must pay a registration fee of €1100 this month (february). In addition, we need help to buy the airplane tickets and to cover additional expenses associated to our stay in Russia.
Obtaining this amount of money represents a great dificulty to us because, as it is already known, our country is going through a hard economic crisis and in fact, it is one of the worst crisis in our history. In January of 2018, the equivalent cost of 1 dollar in BsF is about
BsF 263803 VEN and with an inflation of about 2588.49% [1].In November of 2017, the minimum income for month to sustain a family of four was about BsF 3.822.128,50 VEN and the purchasing power was about only 4.6%[2].
The fast economical drop together with the shortage of foods and medicines have brought to several protests and discontents among the population. In the same way, the public Universities have been affected with budget cuts, lack of updated equipment together with a massive emigration of professors and all kinds of professionals. However, despite all the hard times, we cannot afford to stop! The academy must survive and we all must help to keep the education from dying.
For these reasons, we ask for your appreciated help. Donate! No contribution is too small! And please share this campaign with your family and friends. Allow us to put the name of our University and country at the top. Our team is a multidisciplinary (theorists and experimentalists) group formed by the best physics students from the fourth and fifth year at the University, who embrace the physics and, in general, the science, not only as a personal passion which make our hearts beat, but also as a compromise with humanity and as our purpose in life.
Note: María Dias is the one in charge of withdrawing the funds to her portuguese account, buying the airplane tickets and the management of the team's expenses, once in Russia.

Hola a todos, somos Eduardo Hernández, Francisco Borges, Jeinny Pérez, Luis Vásquez, María Días y Simón Rincón, y somos el equipo que, por segunda vez en la historia, representará a Venezuela en el décimo Torneo Internacional de Física (IPT) [3], que se llevará a cabo en el Instituto de Física y Tecnología de Moscú entre el 1 al 8 de Abril de 2018. Estudiamos en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, en Sartenejas, Miranda, y necesitamos su ayuda para viajar a Moscú y representar con orgullo a nuestra universidad, nuestra comunidad científica, y más importante, a nuestra nación.
Como preparación para el torneo debemos resolver 17 problemas abiertos de física desde todos los enfoques que podamos: teórico, experimental y/o computacional. Estos problemas serán discutidos y debatidos con los demás equipos participantes en Moscú, y los resultados serán evaluados por un jurado conformado por profesores e investigadores de distintos lugares del mundo. Nuestro equipo tuvo que pasar un proceso de pre-selección para clasificar al torneo, que consistía en enviar un reporte acerca de uno de los problemas que hemos estado estudiando, y estamos honrados en anunciar que ¡hemos clasificado! Por segunda vez, Venezuela tiene la oportunidad de participar en este torneo internacional, junto con los otros 17 equipos que también clasificaron.
Durante nuestra formación, hemos hecho todo lo que está a nuestro alcance para sacar el mayor provecho a nuestros profesores y materias. Este torneo será el reto perfecto para demostrar nuestras aptitudes ante la comunidad científica internacional por primera vez. Estamos realmente entusiasmados, por ello, hemos estado trabajando incansablemente para que se haga posible. Pero ahora, más que nunca, necesitamos de su apoyo para poder realizar este sueño. Formalizar nuestra inscripción en el torneo requiere pagar una cuota de €1100 este mes de febrero. Además necesitamos dinero para comprar los pasajes de avión y gastos adicionales asociados a la estadía en Rusia.
Obtener esta suma de dinero representa una gran dificultad pues, como es de conocimiento público, la situación económica en nuestro país es bastante difícil. Venezuela está atravesando una de las peores crisis económicas de la historia. En enero del 2018, el equivalente a un dólar en BsF es de aproximadamente BsF 263803 VEN [1] y existe una inflación del 2588.49% aproximadamente. La canasta básica, en noviembre de 2017, llegó a ser de BsF 3.822.128,50 VEN y el poder adquisitivo del salario mínimo fue apenas del 4.6% aproximadamente [2], la situación ha empeorado desde entonces.
El rápido declive económico, acompañado de escasez de comida y productos básicos han hecho estragos en la población. Sin poder escapar de esta realidad, la educación universitaria pública también se ha visto enormemente afectada, con abismales recortes de presupuesto, falta de equipos actualizados junto con una emigración masiva de profesionales y profesores de la nación. Sin embargo, a pesar de las serias dificultades ¡No podemos permitirnos parar! La academia debe sobrevivir y todos nosotros debemos contribuir a salvarla.
Por estas razones les pedimos su muy apreciada ayuda, ¡Donen! ¡Ninguna contribución es demasiado pequeña! ¡Por favor, compartan esta campaña con sus amigos y familiares!
¡Permítannos poner el nombre de nuestra universidad y nuestro país en alto! Nuestro equipo, es un grupo multidisciplinario (teóricos, computacionales y experimentalistas) conformado por los mejores estudiantes de física de cuarto y quinto año en la universidad, que abrazan a la física, y ciencia en general, no sólo como una pasión personal que mantiene sus corazones latiendo, sino también como un compromiso con la humanidad y un propósito de vida.
