Karin's Cancer Care

Karin Robertson (of Naturally Nerida Farm) has been a vendor at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market for several years selling lamb and eggs. She has been diagnosed with Stage 3 C Serius Ovarian Cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments after having a radical hysterectomy. Karin will be receiving chemo for the next six months.
Karin is a self-employed farmer with dogs, donkeys, and sheep. Knowing that she would not be able to care for these animals herself she placed her donkeys, sheep, and many of her dogs in foster care for the winter. She has had overwhelming support and help from friends and the community to make this happen. Karin is incredibly grateful and feels blessed in knowing that her animals are being loved and cared for while she focuses on her health and kindly thanks everyone.
Karin will be unable to work while in treatment and while recovering over the next 8 to 12 months. She doesn't have insurance or a second income in the household. The next 8 to 12 months will be very difficult for her both in terms of coping with cancer an chemotherapy treatments and financially. We are hoping her friends and community can help support Karin with some of these expenses, including medical expenses, travel to Halifax 4 times every 3 weeks, care for her dogs while she is having treatment, and monthly bills : Morgtage, oil, power, phone, gas, food.
She has a very positive strong attitude and is determined to beat cancer and return to farming and caring for animals. She would also like to give back to others who find themselves in a similar situation. She has been a wonderful part of our community for over 35 years as a farmer , an employment counselor, a friend and neighbor. Let's pull together and help Karin during this very difficult time.
