Donate to the Sojourner Truth Museum Fund
The Sojourner Truth Museum and Conference Center is raising funds to purchase property to develop and operate our new museum complex. The building will house our new museum to showcase the life and legacy of Sojourner Truth.
Truth, a former slave, abolitionist and suffragette, moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1857. She lived in her newly adoptive hometown until she died on November 26, 1883, where she is buried at Oakhill Cemetery.
What will you do with my donation?
Your charitable and tax-deductible donation will be used to purchase the building, closing costs, attorney fees, insurance and security costs to protect the property and/or structure.
When will the museum open?
If all goes according to schedule, we anticipate a grand opening on Mother’s Day in 2019. Our nonprofit corporation has consulted with architects who have indicated that it will take approximately two (2) years to build a structure from the ground up, or transform an existing building into a museum.
