My son Sean Thayne, age 30, gave his life trying to rescue 4 year old London DeDios and her mother Brenda DeDios who fell into the Provo River in Utah on May 29, 2017.
A year has almost passed now, and our families have mourned greatly and will continue to do so, but from the beginning I have felt a responsibility to make a difference so that my son Sean will not have died in vain. As a Retired USAF Medic and a strong willed man as my son was, I have worked for this past year to do what I can to prevent future drownings along the Provo River.
Now I’d like to create a memorial plaque for Sean, Brenda and little London.  Sean couldn't save them that day, but the memorial plaque will have information that could very well save the lives of others who may not understand the strength of a river.

Sean did not hesitate one second to jump into harms way. His instinct to protect those in need kicked into overdrive in the blink of an eye. He wasn’t alone. Others jumped into the river to try to save the mother and child, but were able to make it to safety.
Provo River has claimed enough lives over the years. All that is left is change. If you have ideas to make the river safer please contact me so we can try to make a difference.
Our family has been so, so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and friends and family since day one. You just have no idea what your kind comments and deeds have done for us.

Now we are asking for help in creating a lasting memorial that will remind people how swiftly our loved ones can be lost. There have always been and always will be brave people like Sean who will run to save those in danger, and we want to minimize the need for heroes in Provo Canyon.

Thank you--
Troy Thayne

I have purchased a 3D printer and working on Lithophane Design.

3D printing is not as simple as printing paper. I'm spending hours learning how to create a 3D lithophane Memorial Plaque. I will persivear for the sake of creating not only a memorial but a warning Sign to prevent other needless drownings.

I myself know that a picture of people with a story makes a difference rather than just a warning sign.

Thank you all for your support in this endever.

Troy Thayne and Family.

Thank you Jed Boal for listening to my request and being of public service by announcing.
