Hi everyone and welcome to the go fund for I've started to help make Tristin's Dream, to run again, a reality.

Tristin was a normal 14 year old boy who had his life completly turned upside down in March of this year when he was diagnosed with an extremly rare form of cancer known as synovial sarcoma.

This type of cancer is extremly rare effecting just 1 in 3 million people. What makes Tristin's case more unsual is his age, as this cancer is mostly discovered in the elderly.

In June this year Tristin underwent a revolutionary operation known as a rotationplasty. His leg was amputated from above his knee and his foot was then rotated 180 degrees and reattached for the ankle joint to act as a new knee.

Five months on and things are looking up. Tristin is currently able to walk for a few minutes at a time with his current prothstetic but it is very heavy, rigid, uncomfortable and often leaves him in alot of discomfort.

After consultation with medical professionals they have advised us that a custom made prosthtetic would be the best option to allow Tristin to break free from the confinement to a wheelchair and give him back his mobility and freedom.

We have been in contact with a specialist company based in England that have access to state of the art technology. They believe they can custom make a leg for Tristin that will allow him to fulfil his dream to run again.

We as a family are hoping to raise money for Tristin so that he can have the best prosthetic possible. At the moment, Tristin is still growing so we will not expecting to seek a custom made prosthetic until he turns 18. We are hoping in this time to have raised funds to purchase a custom leg privately, but also to cover consultations and travel expenses to and from the clinic.

Throughout the entire ordeal the courage and bravery Tristin has shown is an inspiration and he truely is my hero which is why i hope to see is dream fulfilled.

Thanks for taking the time to read about Tristin. And thanks to everyone who has shown their support for his cause.

After only 6 months of fundraising, we are already over 1 third of the way to our target and to making Tristin's dream a reality, and for that, we as a family would like to express our thanks to everyone who has helped out during the various events held for Tristin, and to everyone who has donated. Everyone's generosity has been so overwhelming, and as fundraising continues, we are constantly reminded of all the good that is in the world. Thank you to everyone.

It's been just over a year since Tristin first received the news that he had cancer, which threw his world, and his family's world, completely upside down. He has never complained, and throughout the whole process of diagnosis, the ongoing tests, his revolutionary surgery and learning to walk again, he has proven to be a fighter and a true inspiration to the local community.

Tristin and his family have been researching the options available to him, and have come across a few new and revolutionary prosthetics. At first we believed that it would be best to wait until Tristin turned 18 / stopped growing, so that we could get him a prosthetic that he wouldn't outgrow and would last for life. However, he has come across a number of options that would allow him to adjust as he grows, so we are now hoping to raise the funds needed as quickly as possible so that Tristin doesn't miss out too much on his teenage years. The costs vary, depending on where in the world the prosthetics are made, etc. We are also considering the costs of any travel that may be required, as well as consultations with professionals when the time comes to have the prosthetic made and fitted. We have had no definite quotes, but most range from $30,000 -35,000.

All Tristin wants to do is to run. Something a lot of us would have taken for granted at the age of 15. We are confident that he will soon once again have that freedom.

Once again, a massive thanks to all who have been involved in fundraising efforts. To everyone who has donated, to the local business, big and small, who have given to Tristin's cause, to everyone who has given their time. There are far too many to name. We truly cannot thank everyone enough for all your help, as there is no way we could have achieved this on our own.
