Trip To PHATS-SPHEM CONFERENCE

Donation protected
My name is Dave Dunkleberger and I am currently working in my 3rd season as the equipment manager of the Johnstown Tomahawks.

I am currently raising money to attend the annual phats-sphem conference which takes place this year in Phoenix, Arizona June 12-17.
I've been told each year by many equipment managers who work higher levels that this conference is important to attend if you want to advance your career. This conference holds many benefits to advancing my career (networking with other equipment managers of all levels, vendors from countless companies, and even exhibits on expanding my knowledge in the field.

However, there are many costs that come with this trip, including airfare, hotel, transportation once I arrive, and the fee of the conference. At my age, I am still working hard to pay off my student debt while still only making the income of a low-level equipment manager.

Those who know me know hockey is my life. I've wanted to be an equipment manager since I was 16 years old. I put my heart and soul into my job and making sure the players I'm working with get whatever they need to perform at the best of their abilities. From the Johnstown Tomahawks to Youth hockey of any team or age in the area, I spend countless hours making sure anyone at anytime's hockey equipment needs are taken care of.

There are times when I get tired and worn out and think of getting an easier job that may make more money. At these times, I realize what hockey really means to me. My grandfather and I had an extremely tight bond because of hockey. We were both hockey nuts! He was my go to guy when I wanted to talk. Unfortunately when he passed away, I needed someone to talk to, and this led to my parents having to listen to countless stories!!! I can't thank them enough for putting up with me.!

Working in hockey has lost me many things from enjoying a college life full of fun times or a 4.0 GPA, trips with friends, and even an eleven year long relationship. But during that time, working in hockey has hopefully earned me a bright future, and a career that my family will be proud of.

My mom always told me growing up, I need to find something other than hockey. I'm still working hard to prove you wrong mom! :)

After reading this, it would mean the world to me if you would make a donation of any amount! No donation is too small. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping me in another step to achieving my life-long dream.
