Kitten panleuk (parvo) expenses
Animal rescuers are a special breed. It takes a big heart to take on small animals, in various states of broken, love them, and then send them to new homes. In some situations, the worst case scenario happens. Those animals die in your care. Tricia lost her six bottle baby kittens to panleukopenia (kitten parvo). It's a brutal disease, that picks off tiny, unvaccinated kittens one by one.
Tricia, and fosters like her fight day in and day out to save these tiny, precious lives. These babies were with her from the time they were 10 days old. As far as they were concerned, Tricia was mommy. She fed them, made sure they were clean, entertained, them, and was in the process of teaching them how to cat. Nikki, Fitzgerald, Lizzy, Lydia, Snow, Frost, and Flurry had their time cut short. Their momma fought so very hard to give them every chance. That fight ended today.
To give these guys a fighting chance, Tricia elected to pay out of pocket for more advanced treatment options and support that her rescue was unable to provide. She's at $800 in vet costs, with final settlement and cremation for little Nikki still being calculated. We estimate roughly $950 in final costs. It's been a tought year for Tricia, with an awful lot of animal loss before this.
As a teacher and a rescuer, money is tight. There's nothing worse that being faced with a large bill and no kittens at the end. If you work in rescue, you know someone who's lost a kitten to panleuk. We've all been there. Any amount to help bridge the gap is deeply appreciated.
Much love to Tricia and the family. You are loved.
