Pay a Book Forward & Transmit Joy!
As the contributions come in, the books and audio books will go out! We're going to donate copies of books and audio books like The Zombie Cat, Transmit Joy! The Bed Time Story Book , Kings, Wolves, Princess and Lions and Cinderella Spinderella to young people.
So far, this campaign has raised and donated more than 100 books to inner city youngsters!
To be able to give copies of new books and audio books like these to young readers is truly wonderful.
Here's how it works: At each event, author and storyteller Mark Binder reads or performs from his work, and then he signs copies of the books for the youngsters. It's an awesome time!

EVERY contribution you make will help put a book into a young child's hand. We don't have to wait until we reach the overall goal. We'll start donating the books right away!
Thanks to all who funded this round.
And… If you'd like to kick in some more, it will help to cover some of the costs of this giveaway, and start the next…
We're still going to give away books, but the $/book amount is going away. Realistically, each book costs between$3 and $4, so I'm going to apply any funds we've collected directly to book costs.
When the giveaway date comes, I'm still going to make sure every young person gets a book--even if the fundraising isn't there.
I'd still like to give away more books, and I'd love your help, so I still appreciate any and all contributions.
And if there are $ left over, I'll either donate that to Books Are Wings or donate more books.
Pay a Book Forward & Transmit Joy! has reached 51% of its goal. Thanks to Susan, Diane, Elaine, Sam and Marilynn. Don't forget good old "Anonymous!"
We've just scheduled a book and story reading program for August 16 at the Billy Taylor Playground in Providence.
Every year, I now invite friends, neighbors, fans and random folk to contribute a book to give away to young people who rarely have the opportunity to get a new book for themselves. So far, you've helped to give away more than 100 books.
When I started as a storyteller, I toured with the Read Boston program, but now we're collaborating with Books Are Wings and the Under the Trees Storytelling project.
Whenever possible, I like to give young people a chance to pick the book that's appropriate for them, and I've often found that older readers are neglected at these events. Which is why I'm pleased that I'll have advanced copies of my new book, "The Zombie Cat" available. (We'll also have "Cinderella Spinderella" and "The Bed Time Story Book" for younger and early readers.)
Our goal for this year is to hit the $2,500 mark and give away another 130 or more books.
Please take a moment to contribute to the Transmit Joy Book Giveaway Program.
Every $10 gets a brand new book into a child's hand.
Please make a contribution today, and when you do, please repost it on Facebook, Twitter or wherever you "hang out" online.
- Thanks so much.
