Fox's Transitional Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Fox, and I'm a nonbinary boy. How can one be both nonbinary and a boy? I haven't the slightest clue, but it's how I feel; how I've always felt. Growing up, the boys in my neighbourhood would tackle one another and roll around in the mud. I would try to join in, but they'd say, "You're a girl."

That's when I started to cover my dresses in dirt, pick fights with the biggest kids, outrun the fastest ones, and dare my friends to eat worms. I remember coming home one day and asking my mother if I could play baseball-- not softball, mind you, baseball-- and she told me yes. But the team wouldn't let me.

For the longest time, I had no words to describe how it felt to live in this body. I could see, feel, and hear this person, but she didn't look, feel, nor sound like me. I stopped taking care of myself and began to struggle with depression and eating disorders. I was saved nearly three years later, during my freshman year of highschool, when an LGBTQ+ youth outreach program taught me that I wasn't alone.

I went on to become a leader in my community through this program and several others, going to local schools, organizations, conferences and more to give presentations and facillitate discussons on what it meant to be transgender. The skills and knowledge developed during this time helped shape me into a person of understanding, compassion, and entirely unconditional love and acceptance for the people and world around me...and I've discovered that I'm ready to invest those qualities in myself.

It's time to transition.

I'm ready to begin testosterone (hormone replacement therapy), work toward having a wardrobe entirely composed of comfortable masculine clothing, and recieve top surgery. However, the financial toll on each of these items is extreme and devastating. My current job is minimum wage, and a large portion of the money that I earn is put toward helping my physically disabled mother make her ends meet.

I humbly ask for your assistance, whether you can offer it in donations, shares, resources or otherwise. It's more than heartwarming to find that friends, family and even strangers are willing to present their best for my cause. Not only does it give me hope for my own experience, but for the experiences of others like me, and for that, I can't thank any of you enough.

Truly, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
