Trainer Tips in Japan
$18,935 of $1,200 goal
Hey trainers, Nick from Trainer Tips here.
As you know, Niantic recently announced a Lapras event in the Tohoku Region of Japan. This is the area affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami - one of the costliest natural disasters in human history. Besides the fact that I still need a Lapras, I'm fascinated by the idea that Niantic can impact an area's economy with Pokémon GO.
I've decided for my first international trip, I'm going to Japan to investigate this Lapras phenomenon and the effect it might have on tourism in the region.
Every time I talk about international travel on the channel, I get a lot of offers from people willing to donate money to help me realize that goal. This is your chance.
I'm starting this gofundme campaign to help offset the cost of traveling to Japan. I'm hoping to raise $1200 in total. $750 will go to the cost of the flight, while the remaining $450 will pay for accomodation and transportation for a 5 day stay. Any funds raised beyond the initial $1200 goal will go directly into the local economy of the tsunami-torn region - I'll use it to support local businesses in the still recovering area.
To secure the cheapest flight, I need to leave on Wednesday, November 16th, which doesn't leave much time to raise this money. Regardless of the success of this campaign, I'm making the trip, but if you'd like to help offset the costs, please consider donating.
It means so much to me to have such a supportive community willing to help me make this trip happen. I've never been one to ask for money - I feel the revenue I earn by creating videos on YouTube is more than enough. But for those of you willing to support my creativity beyond just watching ads, this is your chance. I am immensely grateful.
This is way more than I ever imagined, and I am eternally grateful to everyone who has donated. I appreciate all the contributions, and I'm excited to put this money towards rebuilding the economy of the areas affected by the tsunami.
If you didn't get a chance to donate, don't worry. I'll be starting a Patreon page soon which you can use to help support the continued creation of content for Trainer Tips.
Thank you again for all your support. It means the world to me.
Nick, you're so genuine and humble. I hope this shows you how much we all love you, Cassie, Chance and all the time and effort you put into creating daily informative, entertaining videos! Please use this money to bring Cassie with you, cover the cost of a new phone, laptop and the obvious data costs in Japan. Oh and incubators and Pokéballs!! Please use money from these donations on things you need to safely and efficiently continue creating. Please do so without guilt, this is what we, your fans want! I also suggest staying in better, safer hotels which will still mean injecting cash in the local economy. Be safe, have fun and bring me back a perfect IV Lapras for when trading starts Peace and love, Kat & Martand from London
Thank you for all of the amazing videos you put out each day. I always look forward to the newest video and my tradition is that I always dance to the title intro song. My girlfriend laughs at me but I can't help it. Once that song hits I know it's time for another great episode! Have fun in Japan and catch as many Pokémon as you can! I look forward to all of the videos! Thank you Nick (Trainer Tips)
This has totally surpassed your goals which just goes to show how many lives you've touched with your vids. I'm sure no one would begrudge you spending some of these funds on a new phone and laptop. If it keeps you making more content no one's gonna complain about that! Looking forward to your adventures in Japan!
Congratz on the goal Nick, being a nice person whose interest is going out to other people paid out. You have my admiration for the way you are putting the video's online. Actually caring about the watching community and playing the way you did I hope to be able to invite you to play with me in the netherlands once. Enjoy Japan!
you deserve everything that's come to you! bring cassie with the extra money. upgrade some of your tech. plan a few more trips. don't fee like you have to spend all this money on the japan trip. you're so genuine and it's appreciated in a time when fake youtubers are everywhere. this should prove to you that good things come to good people.
Donating! Have fun in Japan, it's one of my top places I'd like to go. Now I get to help send someone else And Ed Young, ya know, it takes a real downer to come to someone else's (someone you supposedly like) and complain that he's being successful. You like Nick's videos? Then take a step back and realize this isn't JUST about pokemon. This is about him pouring LIFE into his videos EVERYDAY. He built a following. I will GLADLY give him a couple bucks if it means he'll continue doing what he's doing. He's worth more than the few dollars I'm giving, but small donors do big things when people band together. You make it sound like hes done nothing but make a gofundme page. I'm sorry you didn't reach your goal, but your attitude might be why.
I can't wait to see the reaction video. My guess is that Nick will stay true to his word and donate all the excess to the area local businesses and maybe a few charities. Few would begrudge him tech upgrades or taking along the lovely and talented Cassie. It would be mind blowing to raffle off a ride along with a fan. If not for this one than a future trip! Dream big Nick.
Support for the trip for two and enough for new tech to help keep Trainer Tips going strong . Rock on! Don't forget enough universal chargers, battery packs, and network chips. There's tons of wifi, but good network coverage helps for Pokemon GO. Now, GO! ﾟ･✿ヾ╲(◕‿◕｡)╱✿･ﾟ
