Skillpoint Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to providing Central Texans with the necessary skills to join the Skilled Trades and Healthcare industries. Since 1994, Skillpoint Alliance has been committed to serving the Austin community and building a more qualified workforce. Through Skillpoint's rapid-training model, eligible applicants are able to earn first year Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC apprentice licensing & certifications in as little as 4-8 weeks.
The Train Local, Hire Local (TLHL) campaign will run from October 1, 2018 through April 1, 2019 to celebrate Skillpoint's impact in Texas through employer testimony and student success stories, and hopes to increase awareness of individuals entering middle-skilled jobs through non-traditional educational pathways. Funds raised through TLHL will support future student costs like tool sets, OSHA training and class materials such as conduit.
