Trail Club Startup
We are starting a trail club in the Alleghany Highlands area of Virginia. The purpose is to maintain local trails located on lands in The George Washington National Forest, Douthat State Park, and The Nature Conservancy. We will also initiate a program to stop littering and help maintain our beautiful, mountainous environment. This will help the Town of Clifton Forge Virgina, as it transitions into an ecotourism type economy.
In order to raise initial funds, I will participate in a 270 mile mountain bike event spanning the rough, backcountry trails and dirt roads between Harrisonburg and Roanoke, Virginia, on my single speed mountain bike. The fun begins Saturday, April 7th at 7:00am. I hope to finish the route in three days or else I will have angry bosses!
I’m asking for sponsorships between 10 cents and 1 dollar per mile to give me the motivation to dig deep and complete this monster ride. You may also choose a donation amount of your own. All donations will go to the Trail Club start up. The club will rely on the funds raised in order to purchase equipment, supplies for volunteer crews (both local and out of town), storage unit, replacement parts, fuel and more.
