
TRA 2nd Court Renovations
TRA is a registered non profit society operating out of Terrace, BC Canada. Our mandate is to provide squash playing facilities and promote the sport of squash in the Terrace and surrounding areas.
In March of 2017 the club lost access to the public courts that were located at the local college but were unfortunately disassembled to accommodate new building construction. With that, our little club had to get creative in order to acquire playing facilities locally. The nearest operational squash courts are located 65 km away in the town of Kitimat, BC.
We were very fortunate to be provided the opportunity to rent and upgrade two aged racquetball courts located in Terrace at the Summit Square Apartment complex. The Summit Square Strata have generously offered these courts to our club as a home base.
In January of 2018 we embarked on a project to upgrade one of the courts to an acceptable level so that folks can play squash again. This project was successfully completed in February of 2018. Court #1 was up and running!
Our club is now in the planning stages of developing Court #2. This court requires a higher level of corrections in order to be playable. Additionally Court #1 is in need of some long overdue repairs that could not be completed by February 2018. With that the TRA is embarking on a fund raising campaign to raise dollars required to complete Court #2 and repair Court #1
Our current membership demographic ranges in ages 8 all the way up to 70. With the expansion of our facilities we will be able to provide junior training programs, player and referee clinics, tournaments and other squash related events that otherwise are not possible with only one court. The ultimate goal is to increase our membership, encourage fitness and team camaraderie and provide our community with another healthy fitness option of activity over the long Northern BC winters. The break down of funds we hope to raise by March 15th, 2019 are as follows:
