Tony Wright Rehab/Recover Support
As you are already probably aware our great mate, popular local, and friend to many Tony Wright was struck by a car on Saturday 4th March 2017 whilst riding his push bike along Lake Cathie Straight. Tony has been critically injured sustaining broken bones and lacerations to his whole body.
Tony is a tower of strength as he lives fully for his family and local community. He gives so much of his time and expertise to Surf Life Saving and Ironman triathons in a leadership capacity. Tony's easy going positive great humoured and loveable nature also reaches 100s of children on a daily basis as he dishes out respect to all the children on his school bus runs. He's a Man with a Ute always doing jobs for many in our town.
Tony is an all round top bloke and we would love to be able to ease some of his pain for Tony and his beautiful family - wife Leanne, daughter Tayla and son Joe, during this extremely traumatic time and give them a little bit more room to heal with the best way we know how.
Tony is going to require several operations and a long period of rehabilitiation. To help the family please click on the link and a donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated you will also be able to add a comment if you wish that Tony will be able to read.
Thank you again.
Thank you again to everyone that donated and wrote messages.
I cannot believe Tony is home!!!!!! You rock mate!
Lots of rehab still to be done and lots of home renovations to do to modify his home but coming back to his hometown - you can see the joy in his body language, his laughter and his smile.
I am so happy that we have him in our lives. I want to wish him all the best publicly on the rehab journey ahead.
The Mud Run is happening in early December and I cant wait to see Tone down at the river again laughing as he watches everyone run around Pelican Island.
I know the money you guys raised has been put to great use to help the family and so they do not have to worry about $$ and can concentrate on healing Tony. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are all part of Tony's healing journey. You guys rock!
So much rehab still to do and changes needed to their family home and family lifestyle. But the world's best team are on it!
The visiting hours at Port private hospital are limited and he has lots of rehab to do. So maybe best to call and see what movements are. I strongly suspect that you will see him at Flynns very soon.....maybe with his beloved Patrol 4!!!!!!!
Sorry for limited updates. Just getting my technical skills updated. So lucky Tony hasn't waited for me to catch up on how to update using the phone/technology. He continues to work so hard to get back as much of his mobility as he can. He continues to work so hard to be the best he can be. He continues to love life and love his family and friends. He is a true inspiration.
This is Tony walking.......yes walking.......What a champion! Continuing to push the boundaries. Tony said he did not realise how complicated the walking process is. Learning to walk as an adult is super tough. The amount of movements involved.....so complex. But Tony is winning. I know he feeds off all your energy. He reads social media, he loves visits, he loves the messages. Keep them coming.
The family has really really appreciated the money you all have donated. Their loss of income is significant and it has helped to ensure that family has been able to completely focus on survival, rehabilitation and rejuvenation. It is priceless what you all have given the family. Each donation has been given with love and hope. The family feel all that live and support. So thank you.
This month is massive for me emotionally. This weekend my family will be completing the City2surf. For the last few years our family, Tony and his son Jo have travelled to this event together taking with us a bus load of eager Port Macquarie kids and families and stayed at the Surf Club. It is hard to describe how I feel. I am happy that I can think about Tony and smile as i am racing and remembering all the fun times. But sad Tony and Jo cannot be there this year. One day we will do this event together again Tony and Jo!
And later on I will be participating in Oxfam. A 100km walk. Tony did this a few years back and oh the stories he had last time we spoke. For me, to hear the joy in his voice as he remembered and gave me advice, laughed at the stories he was genuinely happy for me to be while he needs assistance to get out of bed, eat, move. OMG what an amazing super human.
I love Tony and his family to the moon and back and I know he is forever grateful for all your support. All his family want to pass on their thanks. You have all made a massive difference in their lives.
Sit back and smile and watch this video again and again and again. Tony you are a true inspiration. What a legend!
