Tommy's Leukemia Fight

Donation protected
Being told your son has leukemia is something no parent can ever be prepared for.
Tommy Gill, 5 year old Glen Innes local has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, his type is considered fast and aggressive
After an early morning blood test Sam (Tommy's Mum) recieved a phone call to head straight to the hospital, local doctor informed her that Tommy may have Leukemia and they were being flown to John Hunter hospital that afternoon.
A bone marrow aspiration was performed that night and doctors confimed suspicions. Within 24 hours Tommy had a blood platelet transfusion, blood transfusion, lumber puncture, a port put in and his first round of chemotherapy injected straight into his spine, 7 days later he had another lumber puncture and another lot of chemotherapy into his spine
This first block of chemotherpy lasts 29 days and gets reassessed after that depending on the results, Currently Tommy has oral chemotherapy morning and night, IV chemotherapy weekly and oral steriods daily.
The lead oncologist on Tommys case thinks he maybe high risk as his cancer count is not dropping as quickly as they would have expected. Next week he has another bone marrow aspiration, lumber puncture and chemotherapy into his spine and the results from this will determine what happens next
Sam & Lincoln (tommy's parents) and his litte brother Jack aged 3 and little sister Charlotte 7 months old know they are in for long road with Tommy's treatment plan being 3 years.
Lincoln is staying local for work but travelling down each weekend to be with his family, Sam and the 3 kids are staying in a Ronald Mcdonald unit on the hospital grounds. Sam is relying on online grocery shopping from woolworths and games and movies to keep the kids entertained as the risk of infection at this stage is far to great to be out and about.
Please help this young family with the huge medical cost associated with Tommy's ongoing treatment, living away from home and travel expenses
3 years is a long time with many ups and downs to come
