Together We Walk - Helping Animals

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

I'm making a documentary called Together We Walk. The purpose of the film is to raise awareness about the animal overpopulation crisis in America. Currently 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year. We ask hard question to get a full scope of the animal overpopulation crisis facing the U.S.

The documentary follows me and my dog Sadie hiking the Appalachian Trail. We stop into towns along the way to engage communities, and speak with shelter professionals.

Sadie and I met last September when I adopted her from a shelter in Minnesota. Sadie was running out of time, so without much thought I flew from Maine to rescue her. My only problem, I only had enough money for a one way ticket.  After rescuing her I had efficiently depleted my funds so I decided to take ride shares and couch surf 1,500 miles back home to Maine. I made it all the way to Grand Rapids, Michigan. And then this happened.

Before I rescued Sadie I didn’t fully understand the extent of euthanasia in America. Through this experience I was inspired to continue to learn about issues shelters are facing.

 Why the Appalachian trail?

We love to hike and be outdoors. After Sadie's rescue many people from all over the world reached out.  I realized we had an opportunity to talk about something important. So I combined these two ideas of adventure and animal awareness to make a educational film people would enjoy.

Budget Plan

To hike the trail and produce this film it cost's $1,500 a month. This covers cost of travel, car insurance, phone bill, pet insurance, food - and of course dog treats. We plan to be hiking the trail until mid September. After our hike we will have more shooting and interviews along the east coast that will take an additional two months. $30,000 is our dream goal to produce this film. That would allow us to complete the film. Until then we have a micro goal if $1500 to help us keep going until the next month.

Your contribution makes all the difference in making our film a reality. Join us in our fight to advocate for shelter animals. Thank you!
