Together We Can Conquer Cancer for James Johns

Three things in life-
Your Health,
Your Mission,
and the People you love.
That’s it.

Crisis comes in many forms, most often when we least expect it, and sometimes it takes a collective effort to achieve the cure.  Small Cell Cancer has been the toughest challenge our family has ever faced.  The bottom line is we are reaching out to you, our community, to support us in curing James Johns from this rare and aggressive form of cancer. We invite you to be a part of this fundraising campaign, as we, the Johns Family team (sons Gabriel and Ezra, and wife/mother Karen) are committed to doing everything in our power to save the life of James Johns.  To win his battle with Small Cell Cancer, we need help from at least 600 people to donate a minimum of $60 to his life-saving cause as we need approximately $35,000 in order to cover James' advanced immunotherapy treatments...

Since our Tennessee oncologist informed us that ALL traditional western therapy has been exhausted, and through his encouragement, James Johns is seeking additional help through another facility that provides a minimum of 8 advanced immunotherapies.  Fortunately, we located a facility in Mexico with administration ops in San Diego, California, and they have taken his case for treatment.  This hospital facility is C.H.I.P.S.A. www.chipsahospital.org and it has been at the forefront of groundbreaking, advanced integrative cancer treatments and immunological therapy for 38 years.   Regrettably however, James' health insurance doesn't recognize the full range of treatment available for him to successfully defeat this rare, aggressive cancer, and will not furnish funding for his treatment in Mexico.

For the last 30+ years our Dad has been a happy, healthy, strong person in love with our mother and us, always putting his family ahead of himself, and we love him beyond words.  He’s maintained healthy exercise, nutrition, and moderation has been key in his life.  He is a joyful man who not only loves his family, but also his friends, his neighbors, his employees and co-workers, his clients, his fellow musicians, and the stranger in need.

Here is our father’s story of Small Cell Cancer in his own words:

“In June of 2018, I began experiencing lower back pain, numbing in my legs, and soon thereafter, I began having difficulty passing urine normally.  By September, the symptoms increased to the point that I had to use a catheter, and quickly thereafter, I was diagnosed with Small Cell Prostate Cancer.  This is one of the rarest and most aggressive cancers that effects less than 1% of men with a recovery rate of less than 12%.  Receiving all of this information was overwhelming and horrifying for me and my family, and with an average of three to six months to live, my oncologist urged me to move quickly.  My family rallied along side me as I began a radiation and chemotherapy program from mid-October 2018 to mid-January 2019.  It was intense and hard on all of us.”

“In early February they released me with clear scans and my family and friends were elated!  Though my scans were clear, I never felt quite right but I figured that many weeks of radiation in that area of the body would just take a good while to heal.  Nonetheless, I was slowly moving into my normal life again.  Then in mid-March, the pain in my lower back and numbing in my legs returned.  To make matters worse, I began having a serious problem in an area of my scrotum.  Unbelievable!  I thought, ‘What now?’… Well, we were soon shocked to discover that my cancer remission was short lived.”

"Through urological scans, surgery, and another biopsy, I was diagnosed with Small Cell Testicular cancer.  Most recently, scans have revealed another tumor in my lower back, my right hip, some in my abdomen, and signs of tumor progression into my lungs.  I’ve undergone radiation in the lower back and hip, and to ‘buy more time’ I have been advanced into a short Op-Divo trial, but that is pretty much all that can be done for me here as I am out of oncology program options in my own country.”

“The love I have for my family is overwhelming, and I want to do everything possible to overcome all of this calamity for the sake of their future.   Through this experience, I have realized that when I successfully beat this cancer, I intend to dedicate my life to working for this cause because it is so much bigger than we are.”

Our mother Karen stands with us and our father James, as we are reaching out to you, our community, for financial support with your gracious contribution to save our Dad’s life.  Including his inability to work since the summer of 2018, and other medical expenses that our father’s insurance would not cover throughout his treatments, our parents’ savings took a huge hit.  But regardless of these adversities and each grim prognosis we received, we refuse to give up and surrender to this cancer.  Most importantly, we believe in miracles.   Those miracles are happening at C.H.I.P.S.A. Hospital as they treat and CURE all forms of cancer for people that come to them from all over the world.
