Kathy's Kidney Disease Journey

Donation protected
Kathy has End Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. She has been on dialysis for 7 1/2 years now.  It’s exhausting but it keeps her alive.

She and her husband Jimmie moved to Washington 5 years ago and Kathy went through the process of getting on a transplant list through Spokane Kidney Transplant Center in 2014, which consisted of x-rays, mammogram, cardiogram, stress echo tests, pap smears, etc. and found out that she needed to have her ovaries removed due to cysts and possible cancerous cells. The transplant team said it must done in order to be placed on the transplant list.

On July 23, 2014, she was scheduled to have her ovaries removed robotically (left side was robotically removed; however, the right side was inaccessible so the doctor had to go in and remove it by hand).  She was in the hospital for 3 days; she came home but wasn't feeling well and was feverish. She ended up back in ER on July 31st and was hospitalized and required several surgeries due to sepsis, intestine tear, internal bleeding and mild heart attack and was in the hospital for 2 months. She had to go to a long-term rehabilitation center to recuperate, re-learn how to walk, climb up stairs/curbs and talk. She had lost her voice due to being placed on a ventilator 2-3 times and it messed up her vocal cords, she was unable to swallow foods/liquids well. She found out that those cysts weren't cancerous at all.

Update 9/22/17

Spokane Kidney Transplant team denied Kathy the kidney transplant due to severe coronary heart disease. Kathy was disappointed and decided to try GO BIG and talk to her cardiologist and see if her heart can be fixed and change her lifestyle, etc and try again with bigger high risk hospital in Seattle but right now she's gonna continue to go dialysis and take time before trying again for kidney transplant in near future.

Your donation (large or small) will make a great difference in Kathy’s life forever. Thanks so much for your donations, it also covers Kathy's medicines too

Kathy, as known by her “pspin” friends as Kat4evr (Paint Shop Pro user) for 12 years, is a strong willed lady who's been through a lot over the years with health issues and would love to get a new kidney and not be on dialysis anymore.

No family can single handily cover the costs of medical/transplant and aftercare; therefore, we are reaching out to you. Thank you for taking the time to donate to Kathy aka Kat4evr's cause.  Every little bit counts. Thank you!
