On April 4, 2018, while at work, co-workers recognized Tim was acting in a manner not normal to a young man with personality that was active, vibrant and most of the time amusing. At that very moment this 31-year-old man's life would change forever; he was suffering a stroke. He displayed all the classic signs, dropping face, tingling on one side of his body, slurred speech and total confusion. He was taken to the emergency room where the diagnosis confirmed that Tim did suffer from a "mini" stroke. He stayed overnight in the hospital and after further observation he was released the next day with instructions to return for further evaluation. Shortly after his release, while walking his dogs with his girlfriend, Tasmyn, Tim once again was suffering from another stroke, this time his condition was much more severe.

Test after test, Neurologist were baffled and could not pinpoint a definitive diagnosis. After much research the experts saw traits in Tim's condition and tentatively concluded that he may have a disease called Moyamoya. This disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain. This was a first for Neurologist at the Kaiser Permanente of San Diego, so they were perplexed in how to treat it. During that time, Tim had worsened even more. To the point where he could no longer speak, had lost his ability to move his right arm and became very lethargic. Initially, doctors began a regiment of blended medications in hopes it would stabilize him. Unfortunately, the medication was not working so the ultimate and last resort was for the Neurologist to perform an angioplasty to the area of Tim's brain that was not getting enough blood flow.

With the grace of God and the many prayers offered up for Tim, the procedure was successful. The doctors were able to open up the vessel and to get blood flowing back into the affected area of Tim's brain. After spending one week in the Direct Observation Unit and another week in the ICU, Tim was transferred to a Rehabilitation Center where he will have to relearn how to speak, walk and do many of the basic functions of everyday life that he was doing prior to his stroke.

Tim's journey is long, but he is resilient and determined to get back to some type of normality. As you can imagine the cost of his stay in the hospital, the surgery, the treatment plan, the medications and all the other expenses you can think of will be another challenge for him to overcome.

To our friends, family and anyone reading this message, your donation to assist Tim in tackling this debt will be greatly appreciated. We are humbled and words or actions could never repay your kindness and generosity.  However, if you are not able to make a monetary donation, please keep Tim in your thoughts and prayers. We are thankful for your prayers as well. We truly believe that the power of prayer is the ultimate gift you can give to anyone in need. We pray that no family should go through this life changing experience that Tim and our family and friends are going through now. Many blessings to all and may God keep you in his tender care always.
