Tim Groller vs. Lung Cancer
To sum up 1 Amazing man with 5 simple words is not an easy feat but I’ll try my best.
Tim Groller, only 34 years old, is the oldest son of Tim and Lenore Groller and the brother of Jason Groller. Tim was born and raised in Easton Pa, he grew up on the wrestling mat and spent many weekends participating in Tournaments in and around Pennsylvania. Tim’s Senior year of high school was spent as member of the Easton High School Wrestling Team. The RED ROVERS rose to Greatness that year, winning the State Wrestling Championship in 2001. He went on to graduate from Bloomsburg University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
With a desire to serve, Tim applied to and was hired at the Carlisle Police Department in July of 2007. Tim’s natural leadership abilities, intelligence and keen sense of justice, allowed him to rise through the ranks within the department quickly. In 2012, he was promoted to Corporal. His desire to lead from the front afforded Tim a coveted position within the elite Cumberland County Special Response Team from 2009-2015. During this time, Tim was also a Trainer for his fellow Brothers and Sisters within the Police Department.
While Tim’s career was taking off, so was his personal life. He met a beautiful woman, Gabrielle, who would soon steal his heart and become the mother of their first child, a beautiful daughter they christened, Ava, in 2010. They married in front of all of their beloved family and friends in August of 2011. In April of 2012 they welcomed their second Baby Girl, Ella, a fiery redhead. Finally, after much deliberation, Tim and Gabrielle decided to have one more baby. On April 10, 2017, Timothy Paul was born and their family was now complete.
This is where Tim’s life takes a dramatic downturn. On April 23, 2017, Tim was taken to the ER for severe pain initially thought to be related to appendicitis or kidney stones. Blood tests led to X-Rays. X-Rays led to Cat-Scans. Cat-Scans revealed tumors. The tumors were found on Tim’s lung, liver, spine, sternum and rib. On April 28, 2017, the final diagnoses was worse than what all who know and love Tim could have ever anticipated, he has Stage 4, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
As anyone who knows Tim can tell you, his Can-Do spirit and Warrior Mentality came roaring to the surface. His treatments will take him to U of Penn in Philadelphia. His treatments, although covered by insurance will still be costly. Travel expenses, food, and unforeseen expenses will add up quickly. On behalf of the Groller Family and his many friends, I am asking for donations to make the expenses anticipated during Tim’s epic battle, be the least of his worries. Thank You All and God Bless.
Such a heartbreaking story. Will be keeping the family in my thoughts. I also wanted to share a possible option that could aid in lodging. The American cancer Society supports various Hope Lodge locations including one in the Philadelphia area. I'm not familiar with how patients achieve lodging there but it is a wonderful no cost service for patients and families undergoing treatment. https://www.cancer.org/treatment/support-programs-and-services/patient-lodging/hope-lodge/philadelphia/about-our-facility.html
Praying for your family. My twin sister has had breast cancer 2 times. My oldest sister 1 time. My brother had prostrate cancer & is in remission from Leukemia. I was just tested yesterday & waiting to see if I'm a match for a bone marrow transplant for him. God bless you & your family.
You and your family are in my prayers. I am not able to help financially as I just lost my wife after a 12 year battle with lung cancer. The only thing I can say is make sure that the treatment options are carefully considered. Some can cure the patient of the cancer and then kill you months later.
Thinking of you and your family Tim, praying for you all- Ray & Del Folweiler (MATT Muretta 's parents)
