Winter is coming - now is the time to provide the refugees who arrive with weather-beating essentials.  Hypothermia and lack of food are terrible risks for refugees starting their long journey from Greece into Europe.PACKS OF PROMISEprovide essential supplies, each contained in a self contained reusable waterproof bag.

This fundraiser, having successfully raised £2800 to buy camp beds for the refugee reception centre and also pay for some of the revovations, is now re-purposed to provide Packs of Promise - small weatherproof bags containing essentials for the dangerous onward journey and immediate cover from the elements.

We will distribute these directly to those in need.  You can help these families directly.

PACKS OF PROMISE is a new initiative which we are thrilled to be launching in cooperation with the WInchester branch of Kos Kindness who have agreed to organise shipping and share costs by bulk purchasing.

Please LIKE and SHARE and start donating funds for us to make them! As you can see these really are basic items that are desperately needed.

You can get involved by simply donating £9.50 per pack and we will do it all for you.

You can also get your workplace involved by organising a collection/drop off point for Packs of Promise donations at work or for any other group or organisation you belong to or can think of.

That's it! So why are you sitting there? Get started! Every Pack of Promise will make a difference.

Tilos is a tiny island with a population of less than 800 in the Agean sea near Kos.  So far this year the island has seen thousands of refugees arrive, be documented and move onward to Athens.  These refugees have been cared for on Tilos by volunteers who have had little support from outside the island so far, and who work night and day to do their very best for these poor people fleeing war.Winter is coming - now is the time to provide the refugees who arrive with warm clothes and shelter from the rain.

Each pack includes:
Waterproof drawstring bag
Durable high quality rain poncho
Emergency foil blanket
Hat
Gloves
Tube socks
Head torch and battery
Handwarmers (shake activated)
2 Cereal bars

If you have clothing or want to make up packs and send them yourself - you can contact the volunteers on the island direct on the Support Tilos Refugees Facebook page:   www.facebook.com/groups/536340446517671/

Thank You!

Over £2500! Wonderful people - this has been a huge boost to the work of the few volunteers who run the operation on the ground in Tilos. The UK charities are organising quickly and have come up with cheap fast shipping options for the beds. As a result they will be a week quicker arriving on the island! Meantime the volunteers have been building and tiling sinks and showers with donated materials. A new fundraiser on this page is aimed at gathering funds for a roof/shelter to cover the area where the refugees sleep, and tents are also being donated. Another fundraiser gives you the opportunity to donate and perhaps win a beautiful original painting! Any surplus funds from this fundraiser will be sent to Tilos to aid with the care of the refugees. www.facebook.com/groups/536340446517671 continues to be the focus of all efforts to aid the people working in Tilos on the ground. Thank you, volunteers - you are doing an amazing job!

Hi - you have got all of us here amazed - exceeding the target in 8 days! Well - the beds are ordered - now for the wait whilst they are delivered. However the work goes on. In a brief respite between refugee groups, work on the roofs of the refugee centre goes on apace. Any surplus funds will go to things like this. Some examples: in one of the pictures below you will see little refugee girls using paper plates, well, as the plumbing installation moves forward that will cease to be necessary when plates can be washed! I await feedback from the authorities on the ground, but everything from toiletries to food can be supported on an ongoing basis, along with assisting the myriad other projects needed to make the old army base more welcoming to visitors. Judging by the second picture, a few more chairs would be welcome, but we await instructions from the volunteers on the ground. Meantime I am in contact with other support groups in the UK to pool our expertise and get efficient logistics together to help ship aid to the islands as fast as possible. From all of us - thank you for your continued support!

It's been a busy day fundraising and preparing for refugees on Tilos. £350 in 24 hours brings our running total to £1561! Thank you all so much - your generosity is overwhelming and so needed. A 24 hour break between a group leaving and another arriving has allowed some of the essential building work to take place in the old army camp creating showers and other sanitary facilities. The Greek volunteers have worked like the wind, all too aware that at any moment the next refugees arrive, and also aware that soon the weather will break and they will not only need more shelter, but the crossing will be filled with even more danger. Here's a few pictures of work in progress, work that you help expedite by taking up the task of providing beds. Thank you so much!
